2:18 now we need our boy Jdwag to embrace that. However DRI are one of my favorite bands, I’d never expected you to do an episode on them. I wonder if you’ll ever do an episode on the Chris Refiert side projects.

I can totally see how the vocals on their first and second album really influenced those on the first Death Angel album (that one is a nowadays underrated banger). One of my favourite Thrash albums of all time has to be the first Sadus album, that stuff is flawless.

I know there are even earlier blast beats but Emerson Lake and Palmer did a couple towards the end of The Barbarian all the way back in 1970. Another great episode; DRI are a band who never disappointed. I've never seen them live but it's swell to hear they're still great in 2023. I would love an episode for Cryptic Slaughter as well.

Dank episode au. Cool you gave Cryptic Slaughter a shout. They are highly important and influential band, too. Once I had a conversation with Fenriz (when he still was fb active) and he got me into them. I clearly can see where did Second Wave bm drummers get an inspiration from with their extreme blast beats.

Cryptic Slaughter's fantastic! I got into them pretty early on because I had this paper Relapse catalog that advertised the reissues of their first two albums. Fenriz has always been a big advocate for them and Crumbsuckers.

They actually got their name from Kurt's dad, who is also the titular Mad Man in their song "Mad Man." They were rehearsing once when he got home from work, and he couldn't stand the noise and called them a bunch of dirty rotten imbeciles.

@@radiofreeinnsmouth1337 you know I’m just being silly, but for real though…. I can’t believe you only have 3k+ subs…. To me you’re quintessential band/sound talk. I still believe that your channel is going to blow up. You’re consistent and relatable. What more can a viewer ask for. Are you into some of the more “comedic crossover” bands like ludichrist, MOD, Spazztic Blurr, Scatterbrain? Would be sick to see your opinion on those bands
@radiofreeinnsmouth1337
@radiofreeinnsmouth1337 Год назад
I actually like all of those! I'm not as familiar with M.O.D. as I am with S.O.D., but I listen to Ludichrist/Scatterbrain a whole lot. Spazztic Blurr's fun too, I'll probably cover them on the inevitable Wehrmacht episode. I know I used a clip from that song "Mexicalli" at some point, but I can't remember which episode. I'm also big into Dead Horse for that kind of goofiness.

I almost forgot, I had something to say besides the trivial, obligatory like. One can find another example of the "compositional storytelling" in No Sense in Vektor's Hunger for Violence. I'm too fucking lazy to explain it. Just read the lyrics and use your imagination as you listen. Once you understand it basically follows a narrative structure, the composition which serves it from beginning to end is even more satisfying.
@radiofreeinnsmouth1337
@radiofreeinnsmouth1337 Год назад
Vektor's so great, they kinda did that with Fast Paced Society too
@billyfoss1977
@billyfoss1977 Год назад
@@radiofreeinnsmouth1337 I don't know how to articulate it, but the overall cyclical structure that the best metal tends to follow is on display too as it returns to the older riff and the last few verses drive home that Mad Max robot lord has just played his part in the cycle of violence. Vektor does a great job of this in many other songs too, Hunger for Violence is just my favorite because it's where I first discovered it. My theory is that death metal, by it's own nature, struggles with this due to it's obsession with extremity. So you get this music which is ripe with feeling, but the lyrical content doesn't necessarily always match or express itself in time with the instruments. It's the type of thing that King Diamond's concept albums constantly strive to maintain. Yet bands like Autopsy are fucking swimming in it, it's just not always utilized perfectly. But that's ok! In the Grip of Winter is the classic example, but there are so many more. There is a reason they still play so many tracks from Severed Survival and Mental Funeral live.

One of my first metal tapes that wasn't Metallica and megadeth was DRI Four Of A Kind. I was a lil guy and caught more shit from family for liking them. Nuclear Assault got the most resistance tho. Man my mom hated that band.

The all time greatest crossover band next to the Crumbsuckers, Cryptic Slaughter and the Cro-Mags. And then you realize punk/hardcore/metal created this problem we have today with the entitled socialist/communist 38 gender people. And the left wing terrorist organizations. Either way good episode.
@radiofreeinnsmouth1337

@@radiofreeinnsmouth1337 I’ll agree with that. But look at DRI for example Capitalist Suck, Money Stinks etc they definitely preached that give me free shit because I don’t want to work and you owe me. And I definitely know punk had to do with it like Dead Kennedys, MDC. But you are correct.

I like your style, but you are really not focusing enough on posers, the poser question, false metal, untrue black metal, american hating pink pantie wearing pinko comies, canoes, the scourge of political correctness in metal and exuding an extreme sense of ultra masculinity. Also, what's the deal with all the Chinese women?
