That main riff from metal church by metal church from metal church is a contender for the GOAT. Hits so fucking hard. This shit is like a perfect foil for hall of the mountain king era Savatage, such great stuff and both bands wrote great ballads

@radiofreeinnsmouth1337 Год назад
Yeah, Sirens and Hall of the Mountain King are a couple of my favorites for that style. I also really like the second, third, and fourth Fates Warning albums as far as that kind of stuff goes.

There is no more honorable description of MC entire legacy than everything you’ve covered. What a wonderful tribute to a criminally forgotten metal band of epic musicians. I hope they make a comeback and you have to make a PartII to complete your fine accolades to one of metal’s most ferociously talented bands. Bless you for everything you do for all of us. Respect!!!

The combination of 'Beyond The Black' followed by 'Metal Church' is one of the greatest metal one-two punches to ever start an album.

Such an underrated band. They’re called “Metal Church” for a reason.

Many, many years ago on a distant shore... For me early Running Wild had a similar role as the one that Metal Church had for you. Also, early Armoured Saint freaking rule. I refuse to admit that John Bush ever became the vocalist of *that* mid/low tier Thrash Metal band.

I got really into Metal Church in my mid 30's. To set the scene, I was in a hostel bed at an underground festival trying to recover from the previous night and Batallions starts blasting from the adjacent room. I will admit that I was in a vulnerable state, but god damn it, that was like being injected with pure power.

I believe it, there's a real hard-to-describe emotional component to their sound that resonates pretty hard.

Metal Church rules! Got into them pretty early on after seeing the video for Watch the Children Pray. The song writing was just so good. W.A.S.P. episode sometime?

If I was a RU-vidr and made a video about Metal Church. It would've been exactly the same, word for word. Expect it were bootleg copies of their first three albums for me. Ps method to your madness is amazing and it was the moment I fell in love with the band.

I've heard a few people say that over the years, EVENTUALLY I'll have to give it a listen when I'm in the mood. I've gotten a surprising amount of enjoyment out of stuff like the fifth Rods album within recent memory, so maybe I'll like that too.
@jedisonichog8705
@jedisonichog8705 Год назад
@@radiofreeinnsmouth1337 I've never listened to The Rods, but that Lizzy Borden album is pretty much a highly melodic speed/power album. From memory it does have a couple of meh tracks though.

The end of Gods of Wrath always gives me a shiver down my spine... My adventure with metal (the time when I experimented with nu etc. at the beginning of my adventures with music, I do not count and I prefer not to remember) started with bands like Omen, Metal Church, Angel Witch, Rainbow and Jag Panzer, not with Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden or Megadeth. Well, that's the charm of entering the genre all by yourself, through some niche internet forums. For me, this broadly defined USPM and epic heavy/doom are a pure and condensed form of metal and its aesthetics. And just as I really like a lot of interesting things from black metal, from various proto-metal psychedelics, nwobhm, thrash and various experiments on traditional sound like BMSS (respect for being one of the few channels that seriously discuss them), so in my heart I always will be a Conan, Tolkien and other Princes of Amber fixated fanatic of bands like Warlord, Iron Griffin, Dark Quarterer, Scald, Metal Church or another Lordian Guard... Great video, Hail from Poland!

Awesome video! The first two Metal Church albums are some of the best heavy metal albums of the 80's in my opinion. Have you ever considered doing an episode on Necrophagia? I understand they're a bit of an acquired taste, but they have such a rich and unique sound. It's the kind of thing I would really enjoy to see someone dissect and and take a deep dive into. Good work as always!

@radiofreeinnsmouth1337 Год назад
Niden Div 187 I went over way back on the Dawn episode, I think. They're definitely one of my favorites. Sammath and Zyklon-B are awesome too, but I tend to prefer early Sammath to the newer stuff.

I think all the ones by me closed. I used to get some metal stuff at Best Buy when I was really young and there weren't a lot of options. Got a Severe Torture album there once! No idea how that got in there.
