I'm surprised you didn't mention Lee Dorrian being one of the death metal dudes who loved Trouble. I remember him saying something along the lines of how they convinced him that metal's fantasy lyrics could be cool and not lame, and one of the major influences on Cathedral.
@Unleashedraider1985
Trouble is awesome. Period.
@heavymetalsteve
Great episode. Trouble were so heavy and honestly should have been huge.
@WinterInTheForest
Chicago band. RIP Eric Wagner, killer vocalist.
@burzumgamecube4940
Interesting how these guys were a major influence on all sorts of midwestern bands, no doubt a major influence on Chicago DM. I remember seeing Trouble name-dropped on MA in reference to “power/doom” and “technical doom” bands like Confessor and Child Saint - very oxymoronic genre names.
@ContentsMayDiffer
The Misery Shows is the perfect song for all kinds of effort. On the opposite spectrum, you have The Skull. What a band.
@Navarothravenheart2688
An unexpected episode, but pleasantly unexpected.
@WeWillAlwaysHaveVALIS
Fucking legendary band, I think I was at the last gig Wagner ever played with the band, it was a show in London and they were touring the simple mind condition album and the next day the net was going on about how he'd quit.
@jumpfart666
Trouble is crushing
@shannonm.townsend1232
I'd definitely say the big 4 are christian-adjacent, at least. Black Sabbath as well, for that matter.
@jtd_flamingmetalsystem
Christianity is a key component of true doom, I'm glad you touched on that...Reverend Bizarre knew!

Thoughts on jihyo's boyfriend being revealed?

Woohoo 🎉

I’ve hoped for a Trouble episode for quite some time! I must say though, I enjoy the 4th Trouble album thoroughly, as much as you make some good points as to why it’s sub-par. On the topic of bands that took a nosedive, how much Enslaved do you like? I think the stuff they did with Trym Torson is some of the best black metal to come out of Norway, but they got a bit too proggy and larpy for me after he left. Great episode as always!
@theylive23
It was a poor decision in choosing an Anselmo clone for 'The Distortion Field' - Eric Wagner's The Skull were the true heirs of the vintage Trouble sound.
@infernusrex796
Cool story, I went to see Trouble when the self-titled record came out. The club double booked and we got to see Kreator as well....LOL. Strange bill for sure, but a fun night!
@PainVrillerVEK
These guys were always one of those bands that I heard a lot about but never got around to listening to. The first time I heard someone mention them was Justin from Sumerlands and Innumerable Forms when he was asked his influences.
@isaacclark1388
Always enjoy some doomy shid, are there any plans on a Seth Putnam Projects RFI down the line?
@Kampfwageneer
first heard of them off a Norrsken cover of Psalm 9, Norrsken is a great rare band that became a few cool bands after. I love the Assassin great tune and definitely not what I was expecting but that's what's cool about doom is that it can really be all over the place. I always end up listening to Cirith Ungol and Manilla Road along with these guys. Cheers man awesome channel hail the heathen hammer. Dunno if you already covered them but one of my favorite bands Doomsword!
@wingbuster18
