Thanks for the comparison with the HG. I was thinking about kit bashing a RG with the HG Mass Production unit but it looks that won't be possible without considerable work.

the RG AT field looks more accurate imo

Shinji's crippling depression intensifies, also the RG's proportions is like a mix between the TV version and Rebuild version, the latter looks more humanoid.

I think you'll really enjoy the kotobukiya anime version Eva kits. I got unit 01 and she's amazing. Saw unit 02 and 00 recently and they look great too. Really nice color separation for the most part too and great articulation . they're in about the same scale as the rg kits I think.

Can't wait to get this kit. Just got water slides for it too.

Yeah like the RG Sinanju this is one where you're just gonna have to get the waterslides if you like the decal look.

Thanks for the review ZakuAurelius! The comparison to the LMHG line is interesting because there's an older Eva-01 non-rebuild version (no green stomach part), I believe it was re-released along with the other LMHGs and can be found for around 2000yen. If that older version has the same components as the LMHG you reviewed do you think the RG is still better bang for buck?

I've built the HG Evangelion Mark 06 (New Movie HA Ver.) and the Kotobukiya KP437 Evangelion Type 02 TV Ver. both are great kits and have held up. Only issues I have for the mark 6 is the umbilical cable connection being fidgety and the tiny, tinyyyyy stickers for the hands. As for the Kotobukiya Unit 2 the weapons are lacking in color and are very simple (rifle, progressive knife, and a simple spear).

mechanical detail wise, RG probably is the best, but personally, I prefer the RD 2020 version, anime accurate, crazy articulation, and solid AF, but of cause the most expensive compare with the 2

I'm building it, but I had some issues with the moving parts of the chest so I had to glue it in order that they stay in place once the shoulder is moved, do you have the same issue?

Did you ever build the PG Unit 01? I hear only horror stories about it, but not from anyone who's ever built it. Anyway, not a fan of the transport platform, but I do really dig the at field part, so the premium kit wasn't a waste for me. Sadly the RG Unit 02 isn't getting a special equipment version, so it'll be stuck with the standard weaponry and not much else.

Even though you didn't like it much, I wish they would sell the Transport Platform separately so I could use it as a backdrop for the whole line.

what i dont like is the shoulders binders hinders the arms movement forward, thats solved in unit 00. and the upper arms of course, yet, the forearms is soo tight, should be the reverse. the stickers are pretty bad too, i mean, some of them doesnt curve properly even. other than that the kit itself is superb, loved mine. its just those unfortunate oversight otherwise it'll be perfect. wishlist though: eva01 should've come with its swords, this is though, since its not really in the show. for unit 00, the longinus lance? that white beam gun is cool too

The proportions on this kit look more similar to the TV series design, which is a good thing because the rebuild films make the evas way too skinny and weak looking.

put some matt medium to make the stickers blend better

So are they just not going to release a version of these kits with the giant shield Unit 00 uses to block Ramiel's laser attack? The shield would make such a unique accessory, but maybe they thought its bulkiness would be too much for a kit to handle when posing.

Hmm, watching the Rebuild version after a long time of not watching the TV version, the older kits seem more ape-like in comparison. You can animate something to look cool in 2D, but the moment you bring it to 3D some of the form just looks off. Rebuild have the benefit of CG assets to work off, and I kinda appreciate the extra tiny details. Also, it’s not a huge jump in difference, a la cartoon Optimus Prime vs Bayformers Prime

A bit late lol

I really hate the design for that deltoid/upper arm, why they have to separate it from the arm. It only hinders movement and looks ugly. They tried so hard to make an original design but is actually unnecessary. This figure is perfect if not for that ugly deltoid.
