Thanks, John for this explaining video. An alternative way to explain this is by using remission curves . Blue, Green and Red each rectangular blocks in the spectrum. Then combining say green and red leaves a resulting curve that does not have the blue part. Therefor yellow. Etc. Cheers.

Love that you show real filters and how yo uexplain filters. Would be fun to have the exact same red and green filter that you have just blur as you zoom out to show how the colours that block can combine as long as they are next to eachother.

Richard Travis provided me with another cool way to demonstrate the color mixing of a computer monitor. He shows moderately large red and green squares and then places a diffusing membrane (something like waxed paper, only with Rosculux filters) over the screen. I have not tried this in the classroom yet, but I think it is yet another great "seeing is believing" type of demo.
