Excelent as usual. I couldn't find yet any rhino content with this kind of technical level. Very nice and clear explanations. Thank you so much for your work.

As someone new to all this i would so love to see this with detailed step by steps, but either way thanks for the vid!

I am finding your series most instructive. Thank you. I would be most interested to hear your opinion on Rhino 7's SubD capability.

You're welcome, glad you find it helpful! I haven't played around with it too much simply because I don't have much use for a sub-d workflow these days, but on the surface it looks like a totally decent and usable implementation. The fact that it's a McNeel product and not 3rd party plugin is most excellent, since it means it won't vanish from future versions. I'd say give it a go!

Excellent job professor, how did the edges arise

Are you asking how I made my versions of the primary surfaces?

There are really only two surfaces that need to be made - the curved front surface that I called out as being too small, and the "tube" that it intersects. There's lots of ways to do it, here's one - Use ExtendSrf with the option set to "Smooth" to extend the front face so it fully intersects. Then use Intersect to create a curve from that intersection, and rebuild it (in this case degree 3 w/ 4 points is fine). Use the other surface edges as the basis for using EdgeSrf to make a brand new surface. For the "tube" shape - duplicate the edge of the surface you just made with EdgeSrf, and extrude it back. Use SetPt if you want to make it stop at the back planar surface.

Just really wanted to say thanks a million! I really feel like in your first couple videos that I watched you were speaking directly to me. LOL I am 'that guy' whom was doing everything with surface curve Network and patch.... I am completely self-taught so I don't have too much shame :-) But I have definitely known that there were lots of shortcomings in my surfaces. I basically equated to a junior mechanic that has walked up to a giant toolbox but everything I know how to use fits into one drawer. Most of my work is done in wood and I've gotten very used to sanding. Within the next week or two I will be undertaking the redrawing of most of my products- I HAVE TO. For my cam software I use vcarve. I do not know if you are familiar with it, but it does a reasonably good job of providing g code from a very less than perfect set of surfaces. As long as there isn't a gap big enough for the diameter of tool that I am using, to fall through the gaps it provides a part that is close enough for sanding. I was certain that I knew enough to be dangerous and that if I could just figure out a different workflow I could provide a satisfactory set of surfaces- I will 100% be adopting the workflow that you have presented. I found your videos at about 8:00 last night and watched one after another, just finished up watching the last one a minute ago. I look forward to seeing more of your videos when you have time. I can only imagine with your skill set you are a busy busy man- so absolutely THANK YOU!

@@user-jv4vf4qo8z Awesome! You truly made my day. I started the same place you did, so just realize that it's an ongoing, even lifelong process of learning. And also realize that if what you're making (and how you're making it) works for you, it works! Really this series is designed to steer people towards a more useful workflow when they no longer have the option of fixing flaws by hand, or simply want to get a better understanding of surfacing.
