Very useful the trick for painting the UV directions on the surface's isocurves. It will help me to better understand this weird concept in Rhino's surfaces. I always expected the surfaces to inherit the world's coordinates and I was terribly confused by each surface having different UV directions. For those who want to do the same, the options are in the menu's path: Tools -> Options -> Rhino Options -> View -> Display Modes -> Shaded -> Objects -> Surfaces You should change the field "Isocurve color usage" to "Use specified UV colors" and then specify the color you want for each direction. I did use the color picker to choose the same color as the viewport axes.
I've actually been working on a huge revamp of the channel in terms of content and production, and will DEFINITELY be making a V8 vid. The bottom line - ShrinkWrap alone is worth the cost of the upgrade, along with the refined mesh tools.

You've definitely been one of the best resources available for learning rhino, and just understanding nurbs and 3D geometry in general. I've been running the wip and then the beta for a while now, mostly due to the updates in the gumball tool. Looking forward to your next release! :)
How do you like the edge continuity command? Also could you make a short video maybe on how you’re using it? I see you have the curvature tolerance at 5? Why is that?
EdgeContinuity ONLY works for tangency right now, unfortunately. You're far better off using Zebra analysis for G2 at this point, which is not great but usable.
Totally forgot to directly answer your question - I'm pretty disappointed in EdgeContinuity. It's one of a handful of improvements in V7 that I was excited about, and it's pretty underwhelming. For really serious surfacing (paid customer work) I'll likely keep using V5/VSR.
@@thirtysixverts ah I see what a shame. My thoughts is that If it's possible with a plug in they should've been able to do it in the vanilla version. Hopefully maybe in the future. I see what you do with vsr and I so wish I could have it haha. Well thanks for your reply!
Also worth noting - that option is only available when you are splitting a surface, NOT a polysurface. So if you have surfaces that are joined together, you have to explode them first then you can get that option in Split.
@@flowerflower1154 You're welcome! Since splitting by Isocurve creates a "clean" edge (same degree and point count as the underlying surface), my recommendation is to ALWAYS try to split by Iso first, and then only resort to a regular trim or RefitTrim if you need to.
@@thirtysixverts Just subscribed your channel! How do you enter this command so fast? I would have to type "sp" - enter - "I" - enter to get there. I know you can just right click the rhino "split" button, but just wondering how you initiate this command like with one click? And also curious to know why you prefer split + delete surfacing instead of just trimming them.
It would be better to get strait to the point instead of 20 min just to demonstrate refit trim and tired of hearing DSR especially when you say it is no longer available, lol
