Great review showcasing the different ways you can use this pack. The RIBZ folks are great and located right here in San Diego as well. Thanks for sharing.
These would make an excellent basic comms carry, to wear standalone, or with a larger medium pack or day assault pack. - Dual band radio - battery bank - headset - folding panel - mobile phone - gps ... Thanks for sharing!
I had one that I used for years. For convenience and also to balance my backpack and bring some weight to the front, as I have a bad back. Just recently gave it to my nephew. I was never comfortable wearing it without a jacket cos I'm a female with a heavy chest and the straps used to really announce that so I was very conscious and uncomfortable with that. Otherwise, it fit all the gear I'd need convenient access to around camp or when we went for a walk or hunt, and also reduced weight on my back. Very practical front pack.
Thanks for the great vid. Such a great idea for lightweight load carrying. The way it hugs the body looks really comfortable. And everything immediately to hand.
The uses are really endless. Been thinking of grabbing one for a while now, I think it's time to pull that trigger. Thank you for taking the time to share. Be safe.
Just found your channel tonight. You're killing me. Watched a couple vids so far trying to catch up and already have been adding to my lists of stuff I want to check out and/or buy. Had to subscribe.
That along with the hard use principle/testing. Regardless of what manufacturers think from their comfy office I buy my gear to survive with and that includes thinking about worse case scenarios such as incidents that cause me to lose gear out in the middle of nowhere as well as natural disasters. While gear such as a knife may not be designed in the best case scenario to pry at wood in a worse case scenario I will be using it to pry it if means that I can get insects out of a log if it's the difference between starving and living.
GrizzlyBear Warrior I agree with you. Most manufactures won't warranty a knife and specifically say do not pry. There are many reasons to pry though so I look for a good tip. Obviously it's good to know the breaking point of any piece of gear.
Great review. I know lots of people who have been talking about getting one of these packs. Seems like a good place to keep all your camera equipment when your on the trail and want to grab something quick.
Not a bad idea for folks who are out for a quick hike, however the only issue I see is it's $70.00 give or take. Not horrible but......also I see no place to mount a hydration pouch, even a small one or a water bottle. I don't want to sound negative but if that front zipper fails then you have no means of securing it in place. Just my own observations based on what I've seen.
I have the large and really like it because it balances the load and is easy access. The only constant problem I have is that the straps are always getting tangled up somehow when I'm not wearing it. So it takes a while to arrange to put on. It's a lot easier if you have someone to help you straighten the straps on the back. It would be easier if it was like a mesh vest on the back, but I suspect that would affect adjustability too much.
I can see that being an issue but doesn't take too long to sort it considering once it's on you really keep it on. I wore it all day yesterday just because it was so comfortable LOL. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Love this pack idea. Will purchase for duck hunting to carry my shells, calls, gloves and lunch and put my decoy bag on my back. Great review. Thank you!
I was thinking I could use one for duck hunting also. Kinda funny but we have a modified pedal boat for duck hunting on rivers, so sitting in the boat you can't have a bag on your back so this would be perfect!
Nice review. Looking at this as an alternative to my Stowaway back pack. It is not shown or mentioned, but does the large bag have an area to carry a water bottle? Thanks
The Ribz would work perfectly with my ILBE B.O.B. as it has smaller, organized & easily accessible pockets compared to the cavernous main pack. Thanks for the review!
I love my medium ribz, always use it to access small items when hiking. Got a karge size fir my neohew for xmas. The Ribz website usyally has a sale around xmas time,
Ever since I saw the first video on the Ribz, and have been reading the various video blogs from each person evaluating the Ribz, there is something that they haven't touched on. With your critical items kept now in the front, the only good thing for the main backpack is to now carry your tent, sleeping bag, cooker/food, tarp or Hammock, change of clothing, and other things that are not as critical to your survival. If you carry a small Esbit fuel tablet stove in the Ribz, and a single dehydrated pouch of food, along with some water, you could probably ditch your main pack. You may be cold and uncomfortable; but at least you would have a meal and something to digest....
Shelter is very critical, depending on where you live you can freeze to death in as little as 3 hours with no shelter. So consider that before you say it's not critical! Just a friendly piece of advice! Be Ready!
Great concept. I owned the smaller one. And I agree with all you say, everything is at hand, and it never interfered with my backpack, when I wore them together. But I gave mine away, it was just too hot to wear. And I live in Alaska.
Great idea and great job on the video. I actually use a tactical vest so i have front access pockets, but the ribz would be a great option. Thanks to the pretty co host for helping you. Your pretty ben , but she is easier on the eyes.......
Much better redesign from the original... I use my old one for my fishing/bushcraft survival kit - Is almost too small... Ribz sent me a coupon code lol i better find it cause I need the large one..:)
