@@joshuahendershott4247 well it was good while it lasted, I wouldn't say it didn't work out it was pretty good. I don't think he wanted to commit to doing it though
@@chadhampton2176 Butch was tough, for sure, but let the Stieners get to him, ..they would not fuck with Ron, that's saying something.. think Arn said he was "country strong" no roids, no artificial shit ( you can tell by how good he still looks today, no pimples, still has his size).. Those fuckers with that genetic gift, ( and the proper bone structure to support his frame), are the most dangerous.. not prone to injury, inhumane athleticism. never worked out, and when they did, epic.. Ron was very under estimated, and probably well feared.. I think Vince probably paid him what Ron said he wanted, even if he didn't get the biggest push.. lol seems like a guy that worked on his own terms, but a total pro that cared about the business to..
@@planegaper The Andersons we're tough sons of bitches, as were the Steiners and the Von Ericks, but none of them wanted to deal with Butch Reed or Ron Simmons. Dick Murdock and Dick Slater both had Ric Flair's number.
Orndoff didn't actually beat up Tony Atlas. Tony wrestled him to the ground and had him locked into a cradle at which point Paul Orndoff bit into his ear. Tony kept the lock in and Paul calmed down at which point Tony realised his ear was bleeding and ended up going to the hospital later that evening to get it checked out.
Ron Simmons is the man. Former all American from FSU wwe hall of Famer and one of the most respected wrestlers and one of the baddest men in the sport nothing but love for Mr. Ron Simmons.
LMFAO Brian Pillman calling Steve Austin on the phone - " Hey kid ! u should of seen it! Orndorf beat the shit out of Van Vader in sandals, if he would of had high tops on he would of killed him ! " .... Steve Austin - " instead of putting the boots to him he put the flips flops to him " 😂😂😂
I like the fact that there is a photo of Ron Simmons when discussing legit tough guys, because based on what I've seen in the ring from Ron and the way he violently attacked people from the beginning of his career--I KNOW he has a killer instinct. No wonder Bill Watts liked him so much, he's the kind of guy Mid South was made for, if only he had started there instead of Florida
Back in 2009 I actually got to hangout with Flair for an entire evening. A company that my buddy worked for at the time actually rented Flair out for an evening lol My buddy was able to bring me, there was about 10-12 of us. I actually got to have dinner with him and had good 1hr conversation about wrestling with him! One of the coolest moments of my life. Then we all went to this club and got bottle service for the night. Got drunk with Flair and had such a good time. His manager was there with him so he kind of kept Flair in check that night. I'll never forget walking into the club and Flair goes right up to these 3 smoking ladies in line. Grabs all 3 and says "Ladies!.....you're comin with me....woooo" hahaha what a night!
The toughest, not the best fighter, but the one who can take the most pain without quitting would be, without a doubt, Mick Foley, (Mankind, Cactus Jack, Dude Love or whatever persona he was working as)
Yeah as a entertainer yes I agree mick foley is the jackie chan of wrestling will do very dangerous stunts for the fans but mick is no tough guy or a fighter or anything farooq aka ron simmons is a legit bad ass bad man tough guy u can put anybody against him I would say ron will fuck them up
People tend to give Ric Flair shit about pretty much everything but he's one of the nicest guys in wrestling. And by far, one of the most accomplished!
Ric Flair is a nice guy. There's very few people in the wrestling business he doesn't like, has kind words to say about most everybody he worked with in his career. Sometimes he even talks them up at his own expense, very different from his cocky in-ring persona as being better than everyone else
Video would've been much better if you would have transitioned images with the conversation. I know it takes time but 10-20 stills would have been easier to watch and therefore garner more views. Like say, a few standard stills and at least ten pics of the most discussed wrestlers. I love me some Ron Simmons, just saying as a part time video editor, it would go over better with more than one still of one wrestler when discussing others. All love, just giving a polite opinion. Thanks
Not strong? Dude, Arn Anderson said Ron would only hit the gym four times a month, and would regularly bench 600 pounds. Ron Simmons was as strong as anyone in wrestling. Better read up on him.
@@4EyedAnimation Ive heard his side of the story, but when you hear multiple people tell it the same way, and hear him tell it another way, it comes off as someone who got a much deserved ass kicking, trying to make it sound like he "got a few shots in" to keep from appearing like he didnt almost get his head kicked off by a man wearing shower shoes.
Even Kurt said he was a beast and took chairs off the head like nothing, basically a 300 lb box.. Seen a few Samoan guys on the rugby field built like that.. Thick as they are tall, and athletic as shit..
It's funny because Bruce Prichard was the first one I ever heard see it, Dan Spivey is apparently right up there with Haku as far as being toughest guys in the business. I've heard a couple other guys since then say yeah nobody messed with Dan Spivey
Stories I've heard about all the wrestling talent that came out of Minnesota, Hawk, Animal, Henning, Norton, was that Rick Rude was the baddest of the bunch. Nobody wanted to tangle with that dude.
When the APA beat up public enemy for being shitty backstage and Ron slammed one of them it looked like a guy wringing out a towel. Except it was 300 lb man.
tough guys in real life haku, andre the giant, brock lesnar, ken shammrock who did wwe and ufc, booker T was a real life tough guy, and of course their was others including scot steiner that guy was a nut in real life as well as in wcw....
haku was just crazy and beat up guys in bars....if thats your barometer for tough then sure but lesnar, blackman, shamrock are actual fighters and would be tougher
Scott was pussy lmao he thinks hes tough but he really wasnt he was pussy theres a story he tried to bully simmons and simmons embarrassed him and nobody was scared or afraid of Steiner again he just had the intimidation factor cause of his arms but that dude ain't tough
He did shoot on Andre and Andre almost drowned him in the lake. Andre beat the crap out of him and dragged him to the lake and held his head under until he dang near drown.
@@gregorykrug8034 Mulligan was in on it too however I am almost absolutely certain the second one was Dick Slater. It was two people according to Ric Flair in an interview.
Vader is the only one who disputed the story. Everyone who was actually there said that Paul won that fight. There's no one that vouches for Vader winning except for Vader himself. The most consistent trait is that Paul won while wearing slippers and that's from people who were there. The others that arrived during the aftermath saw Vader on the floor and saw Paul walk out - including Ric Flair. Vader lost that day.
If you're 230 plus pounds and you know how to punch then you can drop anyone. Orndorff was listed at 6'0 250. Probably exaggerated but still. If he was 5'10, 230 and knew how to fight then you'd never fuck with that dude unless you knew how to handle yourself.
The weights these wrestlers were listed at--that's one thing about the business I always knew was fake! I remember seeing scrawny little Ricky Morton listed at 220-HAHAHAHA! No way in the world he couldn't have been a french fry over 170 at his heaviest!
@@impalaman9707 Come on dude. I'm 5'11 and about 180. And I'm just a regular looking guy. If anything I'm a bit of a rail. No way was Orndorff 170. Take a look at the guy standing next to Hulk Hogan who was an absolute monster of a man when they were feuding. and if you cant get a sense of scale for Hogan then watch him on any talk show in the 80's being interviewed by a regular guy.
Wake up Stonecold, Dirty Dick Slater was a huge star in the NWA, WCW, Mid South, and Japan. He was an NWA and WCW World Tag. He was also an NWA US and Mid South North American champ and many other titles. He did the NWA World Fake champ angle with Ric. Dick was a big star.
As a kid we thought the heels were all pussies haha, so many of the heels back in the day were some of wrestling's real hardmen, Rude was an animal, Harley Race looked like your old grandad but he'd probably kill someone with a punch. Haku looked tough but chubby...alas we all know what haku was like. I would pick Andre the giant in his prime as unbeatable in a real situation, even in late 80's when he was so slow he still lifted piper by his T_ shirt with one hand and placed him on the table on the piper's pit.
