Ron Simmons Shoots on Undertaker Triple H Bret Shawn Feud and More! Here Ron Simmons from the APA goes all in on his feelings about undertaker, shawn michaels, HHH, and the feud shawn had with Brett hart. Enjoy!
IF I WAS ABLE TO PITCH AN IDEA FOR A FACTION I WOULD TELL THEM OK I WANT RON SIMMONS TO NARRATE THE VINGETTES AND WE START WITH A TAG TEAM. YOU COULD BUILD SO MUCH OFF OF JUST THAT LIKE OH WE GOT RON DOING THE VINGETTES?!
@@matthewjenkins7488 yeah and mick foley wrote in his book that a younger ron simmons benched 500 for warm ups Im sure he can do more than 315 at 40 but at age 40 why go so hard in the gym
I think Ron Simmons is that person no one did stupid stuff in front of, so to him everyone is cool... (example)"Oh shoot, Ron is coming, cool-out, cool-out!!"
Ron a real one u can tell always figured he would be he a real tough guy they could make a movie about his life from being one the best NCAA football player to first black WCW champ and then the Carter he had in WWF dude a legend
No! Why would you push one of the biggest failures of all time? He wrecked WCW's business as Champion in such a way, that he remained the worst drawing Champion of the promotion even though 2000 happened! After that it was obvious to even the biggest morons, that he was never more than just a midcarder/tag wrestler you keep away from all your primary belts and the main event.
@@shadowangel5054 the business was down as a whole during that time. Same thing happened with Bret. Fact is, both Bret and Ron were believable Champions, and it wasn't their fault the business was in a down period.
One of the legit BMF in wrestling in an out of the ring. Vader can NEVER be spoken about enough nor NWA/WCW for making Ron a Heavyweight champion so long ago. Amazing. Ron Simmons was amazing as a solo, back in Doom, and the FAR AHEAD of its time Nation of Domination
I was at a Days of the Dead Con back around 2015 or so, where there was quite a few wrestlers, the most well known being Roddy Piper before he died. As I’m walkin around I see Ron sittin at the table and he just looks at me and says, “What’s up brother?”. I started talking to him, and man this guy was awesome. It’s like I was just talking to someone I’ve known for years. That’s just how he was. I appreciated his courtesy so I gladly bought one of his signed pictures and took a photo with him. And boy, when he stood up, he was a big dude. We did a fist pump and his hand was like twice the size as mine. This guy is a class act, so it doesn’t surprise me that he has so much respect for Taker.
@Make Me Believe Token means something that was just given due to color and not ability. Ron had talent and was entertaining, and deserved his success because of that.
FSU Legend. Every time Stone Cold brings up Ron Simmons and Fic Flair also, they always bring up about how he was a beast in College Football 2 time All American and played in the Back to Back Orange Bowls the latter Bowl Game FSU was ranked #2 and had a close game defeat by 1 point against the Barry Switzer led Oklahoma Sooners. 18-17 was the final score. I would say the Defense did their job in that game holding a powerhouse offense to 18 points ( OK Sooners also had a great defense) , the FSU offense only scored 17 but regardless that one is a great game.
I met Ron twice at the same gas station in Marietta, Ga (Powder Springs Rd and EW Conn/Barrett Pkwy) and he was so "DAMN" cool. I called him "Sir" and "Mr" and he was like "Naw Man.....just Ron!" I had him say "DAMN!" and everyone in the store fell out. Ron is a straight up Dude. Nothing but Respect!
Almost at a 100% rate, the Undertaker is the most respected man in the history of professional wrestling...just shows the type of man he is...And Ron Simmons is spoke well by most everyone as well...He was a guy not to be messed with, but respected all the same.
Ron Simmons was always a guy that got respected in the profession. Even though he wasn't a big name to the fans all the other wrestlers knew he was a class act.
Ron Simmons has always been one of my favorite wrestlers. The man has brains and brawn, and he knows how to carry himself. He’s a good ol boy from one of the best eras of professional wrestling.
Respect to a grown ass man Ron Simmons, gets his point across without dumping on other wrestlers. It's amazing to this day how many people still think Triple H married Stephanie to inherit a kingdom and didn't have to work hard to get over like everyone else.
@@Kyle-gu3ge I think that's the argument the Rock made in HHH'S documentary. Undertaker said he already proved himself and if he could live with the fact that he was going to have his success judged for it, proceed with the relationship. Rock had your stance and said it amped up the pressure on him.
My first experience of Ron Simmons was in APA, and he always was cool. Seeing him dressed as a centurion was abhorrent to me. Wwf in 1994-7 was straight trash but they let farooq shine in 98-2001.
I love how there's a revisionist history of the Montreal screwjob. People act as if red heart was being stubborn. The guy literally offered to lose the belt to just about anyone and the only reason he wouldn't lose it to Sean Michaels was because Sean Michaels was a piece of shit. he was originally going to lose it to Shawn Michaels until Sean said thank you for doing that because I would never do it for you. After that was said Bret Hart said fuck you I'm not doing it for you then. Especially considering he already did and he was supposed to win the rematch and as everyone knows Sean loves to pull out of matches due to injuries. Red heart even said he would lose it the Stone cold. That's for doing what the man says, the man told Bret Hart that he would win by disqualification and give the title up the next day. They changed it without him knowing. Also people act like that was Bret Hart's last night of his contract. It wasn't. He could have lost it at a house show or he could have lost the next night on Raw. He was willing to, but not to Shawn Michaels because of how Sean Michael's treated him. Shit John Michaels even said he had an affair on his wife on National tv. Now who the fuck would want to help that guy?
Everyone refuses to do business at one point. Heck, even Austin refused to do business and just walked out on the company. I am not saying that they were all a hundred percent right, but Bret not wanting to do the job for Shawn Michaels (He initially agreed to do it but Shawn retorted with a "I wouldn't do the same for you") is something most could and should empathize with, even back then. Shawn was a great performer but he was a massive asshole and a pill popping junky who had been nothing but a loose cannon. He had to be coerced into making the right business decision and dropping the title to Austin in WM 14 but that barely gets mentioned.
Shawn never had a problem with Steve at all or dropping the title to Steve at WM 14. Shawn had a broken back so that made the decision even easier for him to drop the title to Steve.
He was spot on about triple h. Everybody always saying he only achieved success bc he married Stephanie we’re simply jealous and hating bc they were jealous it wasn’t them that married her. He was successful before Stephanie came into the picture
He was always going to be successful, marrying Stephanie might've given him MORE power/pull with Vince but his wrestling-side was always going to be successful
@@richspeck8932 Exactly. Ron comes across as a straight shooter. I think to his own recollection...Triple H didn't know about it. Of course in hindsight we all know that he did. Shows Ron doesn't give a shit about what drama others have going on. He stays to himself and out of the mix.
Dirt sheet marks have no business being interviewers. Quit trying to get a certain answer out of a guy, and just ask an open-ended question. Let the man tell you what HE knows.
@Make Me Believe He sounded pretty coherent to me. And if you re-listen, you can tell the exact topics the "interviewer" was looking to dig up. Again. If you interview Ron Simmons, then be prepared to interview Ron Simmons. You want dirt, interview Honky Tonk Man.
One of greatest ever, I will never forget how good APA was. 1990s was such a great era for true tag teams, DX, APA, Dudlies, Hardies, Rock n Sock, Brood, 2 cool
I really like listening to Ron. He is cool. Fact his gimmick was angry black seperatist,he liked drinking beer and listening to country music with JBL,yet he sounds and talks like Shaft lol.Ahmed Johnson ass saying he act like a white boy (in a derogatory way). Simmons would whip his ass twice on Sundays
As big a deal as everyone's makes about the Shawn Michael's Brett Hart thing it wasn't actually anything new. Throughout the history of pro wrestling any time you had a young kid coming up and looked like they were about to take the spot of the current top guy there's always heat, doesn't matter who it is.
I agree with above comment and also add it was also about trust or lack of trust on Vincent’s part because of past embarrassing incidents. However to be honest Bret was Bret and I would have trusted him. He was the most reliable trust worthy wrestler Vince had why not do him the small favour to not lose in Montréal. Just my take.
Huge Ron Simmons fan and always have been. I can never find a shoot interview with him so this was a treat. Is there anymore or can someone do me a solid and post the link to this interview. I would really like to see this whole interview. Thanks in advance fellow wrestling fans
Here's the thing, Bret never thought he was bigger than Vince...but in his contract states the last 30 days of his contract Bret has creative control. So if Shawn acting like a bitch like he knows how, then Bret had every right to not put him over, especially when Bret walked up to Shawn and told him that he would have no problem putting him over and Shawn being the irrigate prick he is tells Bret that he appreciates that but wouldn't do the same for Bret, so it was personal between Bret and Shawn....nothing to do with Bret's star power.
One faves hand down not because he is a Blackman thats a bonus, but just a wonderful human being. The explosive nature of his abilities was just fun to watch.
I am a Big Fan of Ron Simmons and he IMO was almost as good as Bret Hart as far as what he was doing in the ring. And he had a true gift on how to make you really believe the man was one tough means SOB! He is one I would like to meet in person for real one day just to shake his hand and let him know his work was awesome! He should have gotten a real push for WWE Champion.
Ron Simmons is well respected, and he knows that he's a bad ass!!! He doesn't need to be overly aggressive and assertive to gain respect from others....
I was a ball boy for the Bandits in the USFL in '84 and Ron Simmons played LB for the Bandits. He was a beast. I will love him until the day I die. It's a shame they never let him win the big belt.
Always have liked Ron he's from the same area I'm from run across him after he had won the world title he come in a little convince store I was leaving I never had been scared of anything until I walked past him and saw how big he is but he was Nice enough to say hi when I said what's up Ron
talking about how a lot of the boys tried Steph and struck out..... there are others who believe didn't exactly strike out.....oooohhhhhh yaaahhhhhhhhhh
This is exactly the attitude a man has when precious few people ever dared cross him. Not because he was violent, but because he was the man he was and that was enough for most.
Saw Ron in Riverdale, GA out in public. At the time I think he lived in Fayetteville. He was very approachable, maybe because he recognized my brother and the other person we were with. We had a good talk. He dropped words of wisdom. Only thing that stuck out to me was he wasn't as tall as I thought he would be. I was just reaching 6ft in height. He looked about 6'2" or 6'3". But he was wide bodied and side profile thick. From his looks, body fat was nonexistent. And his voice was commanding and rich. Not the kind of voice you want to interrupt.
