Dick Powell starred in the Richard Diamond, Private Detective radio series as a light-hearted detective who often ended the episodes singing to his girlfriend, Helen (Virginia Gregg). Other regular cast members included Ed Begley as Rick's friend and former partner on the police force, Lt. Walter Levinson, and Wilms Herbert as Walt's bumbling sergeant, Otis. It began airing on NBC Radio on April 24, 1949, picked up Rexall as a sponsor on April 5, 1950, and continued until December 6, 1950. Many of the shows were either written or directed by Blake Edwards. Its theme, "Leave It to Love", was whistled by Powell at the beginning of each episode.

I haven’t watched TV for months now no news and I have managed to survive living in ignorance. I particularly love BBC radio though 30 minutes or 90 minutes. I am also loving the old British photos. I was born in 1951 so many radio shows were performed pre my birth and after in the Netherlands. Love this stuff and no rubbish advertisements. I don’t need to be to.d what I should want I know what I need and at this vey money need black embroidery floss nothing anywhere in Victoria.

A very good episode with Dick Powell. The song he sang at the end of the show was very popular in late summer/early fall of 1951, being Tony Martin's last hit record. Dick Powell did very well in his role as "Richard Diamond, Private Detective" with good plots, pacing, and a combination of light comedic overtones and drama/romance and a song at the end of each show. The writing of the scripts were excellent. The program "holds up" after six and a half decades - still very enjoyable.

I vaguely remember cigarette commercials on TV. Don't remember the commercials where they recommended smoking. I haven't listened to Richard Diamond before but I find it funny all the comments on Camel cigarettes. If I make it through the day I will be 12 days without smoking. I think maybe I'll skip the commercial
@rickhinojosa5455

dreas mom One day at a time to stop smoking, friend. Don't worry about tomorrow or how many times you fall. Just worry about today. And if you fall: GET UP! And start over. You see, if you go twelve days without a smoke and then fall, then go another twelve days without a smoke, you are doing just fine!! Or every other day. Or every three days. The point is, reduce and keep reducing. And do something constructive to occupy yourself and your hands with. And your mind. And remind yourself that every time you don't smoke, is another step AWAY from horrible cancer. And you save loys.of money too! God bless you. I hope this helps. I know from experience what I'm talking about. Been clear of smoking dope for six years after smoking fifteen! Not the same as nicotine but don't let anyone kid you. Either one is highly addictive and debilitating of you don't have a smoke. You can do it though. You can do it!! 😁

Hey who you callin' a FatMa? Actually this ain't my joke, it's a Bennett Cerf original. He was talking about a showman introducing a doll in harem pants as the exotic beauty from the mysterious East the bewitching beguiling Fatima and she hauled him one on the proboscis- hey who ya callin' a Fatma? And walked off the stage. ROFL

Never smoked oldest of 5 siblings all smokers and the three bros like a few too many bears not me hate the taste and smel. Now a sambuca I can enjoy been a very long time between those drinks. I love a very good moscato anything not good is usually terrible I loved Lindemams Moscato but some fools decided to take them of the shelf. Love listening to these ads selling cancer of the throat I survived double Brest cancer 2 cancer ver different to the top on and another cancer in the right chemotherapy treatments were brutal and the 28 radiation treatments has left me with so many issues with my hands and legs, no more treatment if they find more secondary cancers. Can’t be bothered with the horrendous treatments so allergic just not worth the crap I had to but up with. Guinea pigs and no support once the radiation was over. Just forgotten no follow up at all.
