@@qkellz931 just think about why a lot of players don’t play in preseason or they only play half the games, they are truly meaningless games and if somebody gets hurt that’s literally the worst thing that could happen.

the problem is that the amount of money being paid to every single player in the NBA has surpassed reason, creating people who no longer are players/athletes, and entitling them believe they are brands and celebrities.
@baldeagle4710
@baldeagle4710 2 года назад
yup...a lot of ball players now treat hooping like it's secondary, as they are trying to create a "brand" which includes shoe deals commercials social media and all of this BS that has nothing to do with basketball. super entitled when they havent heard it.
@iambarryallen
@iambarryallen 2 года назад
Thats not a problem. Thats good for the NBA. Especially in Covid era whrre its hard to get jobs. It shows the NBA is growing so much the players are able to earn dream jobs and that goes across the orgs and basketball world itself, creating more jobs. In todays social media era they do become celebrities. Its inevitable. Its all about switching your perspective bro
@noitallmanaz
@noitallmanaz 2 года назад
@@iambarryallen no, BRO. It is all about the fact that you get diminished returns when people make too much money. They stop worrying about their craft or their responsibility to the game and only concern themselves with themselves, thinking they are bigger than the game. Your perspective is that of a young entitled person. grow up

It's also on the Organizations, they don't think it's worth the potential injury on an 200 million dollar asset. Because they could have the head coach and General Manager meet with 2nd yr players and insist them to run wit the summer squad. Some of these guys are teenagers; they still need guidance.
@tokenkinection746
@tokenkinection746 2 года назад
I feel like it's beneficial for all the reason stated by RJ, but I feel most importantly if the young guy is say the 3rd option in the regular season, Summer League is your way of being the temp #1 option and building on things you might not be able to during a regular season or playoff game.

Teams are also trying to protect their players/investments by not making them play and potentially get injured before the season even starts. The NBA has gotten away from actually competing and it sucks

What, there aren't even any injuries in summer league. They only play 20 minutes. You can get hurt training the same way you can get hurt in a summer league game. Just more excuses for arguably the weakest generation of basketball players ever
@CamPerry

@@williefaulker it's not a tough situation. you can't beat game reps. they could just as easily get hurt in practice.
@williefaulker
@williefaulker 2 года назад
@@CamPerry yeah you can still get hurt but let's be honest the summer meeting doesn't hold any significance in terms of getting to the playoffs ( specifically for houston /detroit, they're rebuilding ) but a regular season game does potentially,. Even if the teams aren't going to the playoffs they need to see who can play with who when it really counts rotations and all of that type of stuff

If I was an owner watching this clip, i’d make it a requirement. Play in the SL and if you’re a vet, at least be out there coaching/cheering/building chemistry. If a team did that, it would send a huge message to the league and the fans.
