@@MTheUnknown981 The endless 8 wasn't a closed loop. It was caused by Haruhi's dissatisfaction from not having a completely fulfilling summer. That's why each loop had different costumes and slight variations. They were all Haruhi's "what ifs" brought to reality, when all she really needed was for Kyo to step up to the plate. They nearly broke free every few thousand loops, but eventually the stockpiled fragments of memories created the perfect Kyo.

@@CrazedDevil606 It really depends on the type of time travel. If time travel is possible, then it would likely thing on many world interruption of Quatom mechanics. In that, the whole universe is a superposition of states. Time travel can't affect your person's world line because you aren't visiting your own past world line. Just another superposition state. This would sort of fit in with Rick and morty universe very well and stick with the nihilistic theme running through the show since ultimately any good you could do with time travel is futile since it won't improve your own timeline

I'm almost positive the writers didn't notice the infinite time loop they made with this story line. But one hell of a way to explain a Mobius strip. Ain't the 4th dimension cool

The only reason Rick had to punch him was because Morty got out the car and fucked with the snake planet. Future Morty got a black eye, and since nothing else would cause it, Rick had to preserve the timeline.

it's the same pair. sure it "goes on forever" if you switch perspectives from one group to the other during the handoff, but there's not more than two pairs. it's the same rick and morty, shown twice, once from the perspective of their past selves and once from the perspective of their future selves. if you don't switch perspectives, the future selves then presumably go on to have "a little bit of eggnog". the past selves go on to do the snake time travel stuff, but they're the same past selves we already followed.

No, what will break the loop is that the hats will eventually deteriorate, since they are being passed on in the time loop. Once they are broken, that would count as an external stimuli for a break in the loop

It's the bootstrap paradox that's the point. Retroactively they have no origin because the infinite time loop stretches into the past and future endlessly. My question is why didn't they just keep the snake maths and costume. It's the same principle.

@@skyguy675 The bootstrap paradox isn't really a paradox since there is no logical contradiction, it's just unintuitive that information can come from nowhere. The hats however are a bit of a problem because they aren't just information but actual material objects that can wear down. In order for them to be exactly the same at the end point of the loop as at the beginning every single atom that is randomly rubbed of has to coincidentally be precisely replaced.

they got the books and snakeskins offscreen between leaving the planet and giving them to their past selves. who knows, maybe the books were in the garage in rick's stuff. it's not made explicit. technically they could have also tossed their santa hats and got new ones during that time but it's funnier and more in line with the show to take it as a santa hat bootstrap paradox
