Am I the only one wishing I could actually hear the wheels more over the music? Honestly sound says a lot about how a wheel might ride (hard vs. soft, etc.).
@@bstrange666 I actually ended up getting the 92a in 54mm like a month after this video. Currently on my third set that I keep in the toolbox for really crusty spots. Lol. Great wheel!
Great wheels. Not a gimmick at all! Bristol's (UK) streets are far from smooth and using regular wheels for getting to places is a real pain, puts you off from using your board completely! The speed and smoothness are exceptional. Not great for technical street skating, I agree, I use Sptfire 99d's for that.
These are legit THE only reason why I skate 12 miles a day home from work. So much traction, super smooth and quiet. Where as 90% of the time rolling over broken concrete/asphalt bits, rocks and twigs would throw me off balance flying through NYC streets, these hold on very well. Also, expansion plate gaps on bridges, these wheels don't lock into the gaps and throw you off, they fall in and spring out..if that makes sense. I roll Cruisers, 54mm. Going up to 57mm soon for better roll quality. These are not the kind of wheels to get if you like sliding or doing reverts. Ditch Formulas or even better, Slix are great for that.
+Darknaruto1000 Most certainly, dude (I'm AGP兆し). I'm going to get a set of 86s just for when I'm spot skating (because it's hard as f*ck to slide most surfaces or crooked/smith/feeble with the 78s!), but when I'm riding around or traveling, 78s all day long. I Will say, though, after a year of riding them almost every day, and hitting gaps and all that shit, they still ride amazing, but feel much harder. Harder as in it feels like it's a higher durometer (but it's not). The core is still in one piece, it still rides super smooth, there are pits in it from rolling through everything, but somehow, they feel so much better. Not as GRIPPY as they were, but perfect enough. They also are like 53.5mm now. So they hold their shape REALLY well. Lately, I find myself doing crooks and locking in noseslides without as much problems as I used to, but I just need mad speed to do it. Hope you enjoy them dude! I'm planning on getting 86s soon just to see how they feel. I love the shape and would hate to go back to C shape wheels.
I have one of these since 3 years, and I love them, I live in Durango, Mex so many of the streets aren't very smooth, so I can skate them with these wheels without no problem, as well as the video, you can skate even on grass, or dirt terrain. I completely recommend these wheels
Well, this video effectively cleared up any questions I might have had. I've been researching which softer wheels would allow me to deal with the often chunky terrain where I live (Amsterdam) but still allow me to do slides and scooping tricks. That's the typical tradeoff or a lot of these lower-durometer wheels involve, but from everything I've read, these ones really are the best of both worlds. Definitely ordering these. Funny how this is still a niche item, despite probably most places everywhere (East Coast US, everywhere in Europe) would be far more manageable with some softer wheels.
I have the same problem. Did you already order it? Because I dont know if I want the 78a or the 86a. What is your opinion? BTW I live in Rome so.. pretty rough streets.
Oh dude, these wheels are the BEST thing I've bought in years, just ab-so-lutely brilliant, I can't even begin how hyped I am. I got the 86a's and they're plenty soft to make kind of shitty ground 100% better to roll on. Really, really shitty ground still won't feel great, but basically ground that wasn't great fun to skate at first will be so much easier to ride, if that makes any sense. They're great on smooth surfaces as well, you're just gliding everywhere. I can often get enough speed with one or two pushes, lol. I really haven't noticed any difference when doing slides or grinds, but maybe they're just slightly grippier with shove-its, but nothing you can't adjust to in a day or so. After which, the whole city is your skatepark, you can finally use your skateboard as a mode of transportation.
Are they loud ? i'm skating at night in Paris (maybe not as rough as amsterdam hehe) and I don't wanna bother people with my tricks. I'm looking for quiet wheels but still wanna do tricks . Cheers mate
78a is better off as a cruising and Ollie wheels. I wouldn't recommend doing flip tricks with it. I tore a big chunk out of mines and shoe goo'ed it back on. 86a is awesome though, and can handle the abuse
might get these i stopped skating for a while and im gonna try to get back into it mainly because i had wheels that were WAY too hard and would stop up on the smallest thing so i might get some
I'm looking for these wheels and I want them so bad bo live in a town in Ireland and the paths are terrible but I can't seem to find them anywhere except online and the shipping is about €15. Any suggestions for what I could do?
I see they have a 92A option, hows that for slides? I normally ride a 97A or a 99A, and its really rough where I live. I wanna slide but still have a bit more softer wheel.
Which wheel quality would be best for streets that have loose gravel, and i mean loose gravel, the very rocky gravel, not the fine, smooth gravel. i have yet to find wheels that can go through this and let me be able to do a variety of tricks
Would the 86a be soft enough to "feel soft" I don't know whether to get 86a or 78a the tarmac by my house is super rough I'm also considering what wheel size to get I'd love to go 52's but I still think they might struggle over rough ground/cracks what you think? I'm a beginner so slide doesn't really bother me.
+Matt They are perfect for skating through the streets. I phrase it that way, because if you're just riding around, flying, downhill, whatever, you're good. If you're skating and hitting street spots to slide (nose/tail) or grind (crook/smith/any grind where your wheel isn't pointed in the direction your board is going), the wheels will grip so tight that they board will go in the direction the WHEELS are facing (think - crooked grind, the board will go in the direction the wheels face as opposed to grinding forward). After a year of riding 78s daily..for miles upon miles..they are still amazing as hell, but I can lock in slides and grinds a bit better (they feel harder, but a perfect sacrifice of grip where I can still carve and feel comfortable skating over any crack I desire).
+No Bev After a year of skating 78s, sliding and riding over 14miles daily (to/from work, while still hitting skate spots and rare occasions, skateparks), mine has yet to flatspot. In fact, I got a 54mm and it's currently 53.5mm on all 4 corners.
seffy good oh believe me, I've tried, in fact I got 3 other friends to try too..... It's always the same wheel wobbling, I also tried different trucks at different axles... It's always the same wheel
