In this episode of Race Metal, Miguel asked John what his favorite Santa fe gravel ride is. Watch and they ride from town (7000') to the towers (1200') on dirt. See the route and details at The Radavist: theradavist.com/santa-fe-grav...
Cool vid. I saw you guys that day... a buddy and I were headed down Pacheco as part of our loop (Aspen Ranch, Game On, Jawbone, Saddleback, etc) on our mtbs when you were climbing up. Thanks for the great content!
Nice, that looks like a sweet ride. How late in the year can you do it before snow/weather sets in? Also, clicking on the link above gives me a 404 error. Please repost link if possible.
It's hard to say! First snowfall in SF is around November 14( correction Late October ). The best time of the year is definetely the fall, watching the leaves turn in Aspen Vista is magical!
“White Boys gotta keep the sun off”… I already new you weren’t hecho en Nuevo, and not a Norteño either. Anyway, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but those of us who WORK outside all day wear longsleeves, pants and full brimmed hats for a reason. It’s not about catching a quemon, ese, it’s about the high desert sucking all the water out of you with a quickness.
The massive scar on my face is from getting a chunk of skin cancer cut out, so I wear sun protection religiously. That is why I said, "white boys gotta keep the sun off." I spent my entire life WORKING outside, too: landscaping, construction, and doing lots of manual labor, and I always wore long sleeves. Being white means I have low Melanin which means I am more susceptible to sun damage, so wearing hoods and long sleeves is about lowering exposure to UV radiation first and foremost. It's easy to stay hydrated. It's harder to ward off UV radiation. That's why it's called a sun hoodie, not a dehydration hoodie.
