I still have my Klein Pinnacle, with its oversized t-6061 tubing, made in Washington. I thought that over-sized looked better, so I then went to a carbon LaMere. Now I'm back to the beginning, so to speak, as I am waiting on a Retrotec thin tubing hardtailed steel bike. Steel is real, thin is in.
Cool vid. I saw you guys that day... a buddy and I were headed down Pacheco as part of our loop (Aspen Ranch, Game On, Jawbone, Saddleback, etc) on our mtbs when you were climbing up. Thanks for the great content!
“White Boys gotta keep the sun off”… I already new you weren’t hecho en Nuevo, and not a Norteño either. Anyway, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but those of us who WORK outside all day wear longsleeves, pants and full brimmed hats for a reason. It’s not about catching a quemon, ese, it’s about the high desert sucking all the water out of you with a quickness.
The massive scar on my face is from getting a chunk of skin cancer cut out, so I wear sun protection religiously. That is why I said, "white boys gotta keep the sun off." I spent my entire life WORKING outside, too: landscaping, construction, and doing lots of manual labor, and I always wore long sleeves. Being white means I have low Melanin which means I am more susceptible to sun damage, so wearing hoods and long sleeves is about lowering exposure to UV radiation first and foremost. It's easy to stay hydrated. It's harder to ward off UV radiation. That's why it's called a sun hoodie, not a dehydration hoodie.
Nice, that looks like a sweet ride. How late in the year can you do it before snow/weather sets in? Also, clicking on the link above gives me a 404 error. Please repost link if possible.
It's hard to say! First snowfall in SF is around November 14( correction Late October ). The best time of the year is definetely the fall, watching the leaves turn in Aspen Vista is magical!
Ok, there is a potential user for this: the rider who finds the 'best gear' and marries the chain to a single chain ring and a few cogs. I want to predict what my bike is about to do, but that's just me I guess. I also never understood the 1-by craze. So I guess I'm special.
I don't think Synchroshift is very useful because you really want to know when your front ring is going to shift....Having it feel almost random is not good.
If you have a cycling computer you known exactly when is going to do the change as Di2 communicate the gears to the head unit.. And synchroshift can be configured to tell exactly in witch cog jump to switch the ring and also how many compensation cogs via the phone app.
It’s funny, my mechanical 105 groupset works the same way…minus the dead batteries. Range for days and my buddies with 1x electronic drivetrains are still spinning out on the downhills.
