Test ride review of the Triumph speed triple 1050. Supplied by PURE TRIUMPH in Wellingborough. A look at how this bike, looks sounds and feels from the pov of an every day rider. www.puretriumph.co.uk
I've got 1 more week to wait before picking mine up and it's agony! In the meantime I keep watching this video, so thanks for helping retain some sanity!
Just bought the R version waiting delivery can't wait to pick it up.. The test ride I wen t on just blew me away.. what an awesome machine :) love it.. great review my friend
Of all the bikes I should have bought this one seems to have slipped through my fingers…so far…watching videos like this makes me want one even more..that triple sound and burble ..OMG..
Hey TTT, glad you liked the bike. I must say I do like that color...and the sound is great too with those cans. I love the Speed Triple...the torque and size of the bike are what won me over. Also, for a big guy like me this is probably one of the most comfortable street bikes. Make the rain stop! :(
I didn't want one, now I do and it's your fault!! good to see you back - been a long time, and so long waiting for the ST repair - hope it goes well for you buddy.
I had a similar test ride from my local dealer last year. Didn't want to give it back. Didn't have the arrow exhaust though (which sounds awesome btw). I'd have to have mine in black or the crystal white if I was able to buy one. Not sure about that blue. Just a lovely bike to ride, look at, listen to. Nice review!
I know what you mean when you say 'light,' I sat on both the Street and the Speed at my local dealership and the Speed felt heavier, s'pose its because of the larger engine, but only slightly. More of a forward leaning position on the Speed as well. Good vid Triple, glad to see ya back ;)
I think its only the engine weight and narrower build of the street that separates them on the road, the speed is very agile but the street is positively throw around-able :p
thanks for the nice reviews, so after riding both the Speed3 and the Street3 which bike would you choose at the end of the day to purchase and take home, to actually say this is my bike. thanks
I love the sound of the triple engine. The rev and that little whistle afterwards. Never really thought about the speed, didn't like the shape of the tank compared to the street and Is probably too powerful for what I'd use it for. Is it easy at low speeds, town riding etc then? Look forward to more vids.
Its very stable at low speed, no need to drop down the gears really the torque carries you through even at low speeds. If anything its more stable than the street but not as easy to throw around.
Not a fan of the mirrors on the new models, but still not helping that I really want this bike =') Heehee. Great review! Absolutely love triumphs and this bike is defo top of the list for me still =)
I liked these bar ends, I dot usually. I rode the 675 street and it has awful standard mirrors. Visibility good but they look crap and arent the easiest to adjust.
Aah fair does. It's the 675 I'm looking at tbh, but probably more when my licence is unrestricted (1 more year!! XD not counting down at all). I've only ever been on the back of one, never ridden one myself =)
TheTripleTwister Just watching now :) not sure what went wrong with the computer at work crazy i think Lovely bike very nice review Nicely done Thumbs up
youtube seems to be doing that a lot at the moment with newly uploaded vids, It shows as uploaded but only the sound plays and the visuals appear about 5 mins later. My filtering video too 15 mins before I could watch it myself!
Great savings on 2013 bikes just before the June update....just bought a 2013 one plus I think a new one is coming next year (2015) so you can haggle a wee bit. Great review, the one I just bought has most trick parts but need to get me those slip-ons!!
Ive been offered a 05 speed triple 1050 for a very good price. I would buy it straight away but unfortunately its been crashed. I can fix all of the cosmetic stuff but there is an oil leak from the engine casing. Il find out next week if its a simple switch of the casing or the if its worse. The worst part is i would have to change my youtube name.
Sounds like a big project and for me would need to be an amazing price to take the risk. If it has been claimed against on insurance and now Cat C or D for example it wont have the same resale value once repaired. Good luck if you go for it :)
Yeah hes selling it for less than half of what it would be worth in good condition. The only thing that has me concerned is the oil leak and weather or not the frame is bent. To give you an idea if you were standing 5 metres away you wouldn't even know its been crashed. I am really tempted its one of my favorite bikes. But i never bothered to ask him if its Cat C,D. It wouldnt matter that much because i dont think i would ever sell it.
Is it true, that it has soo much torque that you are in danger of accelerating the earths speed of revolution, thus causing catastrophic flooding? Glad to see TT back in my YT channel!
I love Triumph... I'm going to be getting myself one as soon as the finances work out! The only problem I'm having is that I'm torn between the Speed Triple and the Street Triple. It would be great to hear from someone that's ridden (or even owned!) both bikes. The Speed has the bigger engine and therefore more power and torque, whereas the Street is lighter and more manoeuvrable. I'm leaning towards the Street at the moment since, although it has less power than the Speed, it still makes more than 100hp. It also sounds better for me since I will be doing a lot of London commuting as well as country lanes and epic trips :). The only thing I'm worried about is that I'll get a Street, grow into it over the course of six months and then think "Sh*t. Should've got the Speed".
I nearly bought this one! I tool it back and was very tempted, lol. I think I would definitely consider one in the near future having never considered one before this test ride.
there are no words to discribe how good my speedy is, but i will try with my limited knowledge of the english language. Do not fuck around with anything else, will not break, will not stop, will wheel stand, will do burn out's, will leave coppers behind every time and thinks corners are made for harley's
Its still here to be continued. Kickstart has been fixed, battery box primed ready for fitting and paint. VHT paint ordered, more project vids to come as well as more ride reviews :)
