there wasnt even a stall to call😂 lovett didnt touch his knee til there was 25 seconds left in the match while henson was in deep twice, lovett slid to sixth where he belongs
Nothing like the NCAAS to ferret out the best wrestlers. All year long Lovett's bag of defensive tricks won him matches. His complete lack of offense was on full display.
Henson was almost certainly the most aggressive and positive 49er in the country this year. Lovett was unquestionably the best counter-wrestler at 149. This was a huge adjustment for Henson to dial back his offense to have a chance of winning a low-scoring match. Even so, it could have gone either way. I was sad to see Lovett so diminished on the back side, but I can understand it.
@mrczz6690 yes but straegically its an awful decsion. He would need to ride him out for the full 2 min to win. If he rode of him 1:59 seconds, the match would go to OT. If he rides him for :59 he loses. HUGE gamble, very small reward and as you can see it didnt work out.
He was stalling. And in all the other matches, points were awarded. But this match Caleb was allowed to block, circle and stall most of the 3rd period without any consequence.
lmao. Yeah and Ridge was stalling for the rest of the match. Ridge choose wrong in the 3rd and when he was behind there wasn't enough time to catch up. This take is laughable.
When it's tied 0-0 after the first, isn't it ideal to choose bottom/top/neutral rather than defer? Seems odd to defer in the second when it's 0-0 And even odder to choose top in the third.
Deferring is always a good option, because it allows make decision in the 3rd period, and you've already got a feel for your opponent at that point, so you can make a more informed decision.\
That was such a bad freaking match. No stalling on that kid whatsoever. All he did was back out the whole single match. Absolutely unacceptable what is Wrestling gotten into now? This is so boring to watch.
he wasnt called for stalling bc lovett was just pushing him around for the first period, and cutting him off from circling in which by the rules is technically stalling on lovett, and henson had 2 shot attempts and was in deep in the second and 3rd period, lovett only had 3 horrible attempts in the last 20 seconds, henson out wrestled him and lovett made dumb choices for the duration of the match, and then slid down to 6th where he belongs.
First period I could understand a stalling warning but Henson also took more shot attempts with the 2 on 1, while Lovett mostly just pushed into him so there's a reasonable excuse why no call. Second period he was mostly centered and had a great shot attempt. Third period he was close to getting 2 reversal, explodes and rolls out, and then immediately goes for a shot. He gets pushed back and immediately tries to push back & circle towards the middle. You're never going to immediately throw pressure back into someone unless you're trying to get slid by or thrown. Last 25 seconds or so Lovett actually tries making attempts to take him down, and with no stall calls he does what 90% of wrestlers would do and just defend. Though everyone is curious what was up with the top call though. However with Henson taking most shots and Lovett taking more time to get back to center, he probably could've gotten a takedown but who knows.
