In this video, I’m going to go in-depth into why you might be experiencing right-sided abdominal pain after eating, and what you can do about it.
This pain would be underneath your right rib cage. Sometimes it can refer to the shoulder and into the scapula, or even into the neck and head on the right side.
Your liver and gallbladder are both on your right side, underneath that stretching to the left, you have the pancreas. Then you have different ducts that drain from the liver into the gallbladder and then into the small intestine.
What goes wrong with this system that can cause abdominal pain and bloating?
1. Stones
2. Sludge (pre-stone material)
3. Spasm (smooth muscle)
4. Inflammation/scarring
5. Dilation - pressure
What are the root causes of these issues?
• Route for detox
• Estrogen (xenoestrogens)
• Insulin (sympathetic dominance)
• Lean protein (causes irritation)
• Frequent eating (low repair)
• Omega 6 oils (creates inflammation)
What to do:
• Do healthy keto and intermittent fasting with plenty of whole foods and cruciferous vegetables.

I’ve been having insane liver pain. Went to the doctor and I was brushed off, said everything was fine after testing. I asked for a copy of my results And liver enzymes were in range but ultrasound said hepatic stenosis and liver measured 16.3cm. The doctor literally told me everything was fine. Didn’t even tell me it was fatty liver. Stopped drinking last week, threw away my otc pain killers, started keto and hit ketosis today. I’m praying I can reverse it!

@@szza6622 Amino acids and proteins as a general rule, are rather discouraged for liver problems. But the amount of Ornithing you'd have to consumme to even ge tclose to a liver-burden dose is huge. It is recommnded not to go over 50g of protein a day. If you take Ornithine, you'd be taking about 500mg to 2000mg, so barely 0.01% to 0.04% of the amino acid threshold. Onithine is really usefull for ridding the amonia built-up in the body (from a bad liver, as the conjugating process in hindered). If you still have your doubts, a quicke PubMed search and Google/Bing search or onithine treatment for liver cirrhosis and liver problems, might convince you of it's positive effectiveness, although they use higher doses, even going as far as intravenous administration. Anyway, oral onithine can only do you good at low dosages, especially for the amonia built-up (which is very toxic if your liver or kidneys cannot remove it quick enough). Some words might not be spelled correctly or words might be off, forgive me, I've studied biology in French.

After I had my first child my gallbladder attacked so I had a surgery and when I asked my surgeon what food should I avoid and he said nothing, I can eat anything I want...how stupid. It was 1988 and has no internet yet to check, so everything I ate something that made me sick, I hadn't no clue...even my recent doctors never advise me anything regarding food restrictions. Thanks to you Dr. Berg, I learned a lot. God bless you and your service!

Dr Berg, you have given me great health over the past 5 years. Keto and IF are incredible. Recently I decided to do a cheat meal but over did it. I had severe stomach pain and nearly went to the hospital. I had experience with fasting over the last 30 years so immediately I started a fast due to the severe pain. The pain subsided gradually over 2 days. Keto is the only way to live a joyful healthy life. I was previously a vegetarian for about 30 years which was the beginning to take responsibility for my own health. I gave up junk food and processed food which was a good start. I was very active as a tennis professional so obviously I got lots of Vitamin D from the sun. There were indications that my diet might be lacking something as I had gum disease. These concerns led me to the discovery of Dr Eric Berg! Within less than 2 years I noticed my gum disease was GONE! On top of that my eye sight also improved!!! I am sorry to say that modern medicine and Big Pharma are part of the problem. Thank you Dr Eric Berg for helping people around the world with all your videos!

It's very important for those dealing with these issues to understand, if doctors find nothing, but you still have pain, and you've addressed the problem from all other angles, like trying and doing keto for extended periods, and having worked on spinal alignment and the nervous system, often times the issue is sludgy bile, or slow moving bile, DUE TO LIVER/GALL stones. Yes diagnostics will pick up on concentrated and hardened stones in the gall bladder, but THEY DO NOT pick up on the stones as they are forming in the liver (they are almost 100% cholesterol based and too soft to see in imaging). If you have any reason to suspect arterial wall damage, then look squarely at the bodies repair mechanism for this damage, cholesterol, which is ultimately filtered back out of the blood in the liver, where in high concentrations form liver stones (which eventually get to the gall bladder for gardening). These cholesterol-based liver stones will leach into the bile and thicken it, causing the sludgy non-flowing and slowed bile release upon eating. Again liver stones are NOT detectable by modern clinical tests. You would need to take a look at Dr Andreas Moritz amazing liver flush (a book), to learn how to clear these stones, or as Dr Berg always says, taking TUDCA or bile salts to thin the bile, allowing it to pull more cholesterol away from the liver stones, slowly in time reducing the stones in their size and capacity to thicken bile, and reducing risk of them dislodging and sliding into the gall bladder to create gall stones. Hope this info finds everyone well.

I have been going to Gastro's, Enodo's, Gyno's and GP's for the last 3 years. No one could tell me what is wrong. I've pain in my center front, where my rib cage comes together for 25 years. Very intermittent until a GP gave me diuretics for bloating and swelling. Then, I started having multiple attacks a week. The only thing that relieved the pain was not eating. Been doing IF, OMAD, Atkins, Keto, most my life. Whenever I stopped. I'd have pain. Gastro found Stones and so I removed my Gallbladder, even though I only ever had 2 Gallbladders attacks. Very different from the pain I was feeling. Everything I've read, calls what I feel a Pancreatitis attack, but I don't through the enzymes they look for. So, they call it Acid Reflux and send me on my way with some Zantac. So frustrating! Anyway, rant over. You have taught me more than any of them in the last few years and now I know it's a spasm in the sphincter of Oddi. I want to thank you so very much! You are Incredible!!!!

Vivian Smith I have no idea what the ingredients are I just quit drinking it. It was the only thing different in my diet over a 2 week period so it was easy to figure out. I was literally just shy of having a gallbladder attack, I’d never hurt that bad in my life so I looked up some remedies on the internet for some quick relief. I squeezed the juice of an entire lemon in a small glass of water and drank it. Then I drank a cup of olive oil and laid on the couch with my knees up..... About 3 hours later I could feel some tingling in the right side of my mid back area and then it felt like something popped and I could feel a sensation like there was fluid running down a tube inside my back. Immediately the pain was gone and it’s never returned, that was about 3 years ago.... Take Care

For the first time ever, this happened to me last night. After water fasting during the day, I had a small protein meal and an apple. After half an hour I had sudden pain under my right rib. It felt like heartburn with pain. With the pain on my right instead of my left I knew it was more likely my liver/pancreas or possibly my upper intestine than my heart. Thankfully, after lying on my right side in a recliner (hoping it was just indigestion) it passed after about an hour.

The coworker I tried to persuade to start following you and tell her doctor to cancel surgery to remove her appendix didn't listen. She was out for that, then came back to work, only to disappear a week and a half later. It was now a case of a extreme gall stones that had to be emergency operated on to remove that organ too! This confirms my suspicions that my gallbladder is sometimes "angry" at night. If I eat too late or certain junky foods, I notice that I have a pain in my right side when trying to sleep. I usually sleep on that side and when I rotate to my back the pain goes away... but it's hard for me to sleep on my back. This is a great video. I have SOD Disfunction, and it can get very pain full. I had severe stones and pancreatitis that landed me in the ICU doubled over in pain on Narcotics for over a week about 10 years ago. I did have my gull bladder removed, but my common duct is full of scar tissue. I will say that what always precedes the pain for me is a feeling of being really full like I pigged out at a buffet till I couldn't eat another bite even though I have barely eaten. Constipation usually follows that. I seem to have an attack of it about once a year or so. I take bile salts all the time, but when I have an attack, the way I manage it is a a 3 day fast followed by a few days of just eating eggs once a day. Eggs just seem to be the thing I have the easiest time digesting. I have considered having the surgery to have the SOD muscle cut, but so far I can manage it and it doesn't happen often, so I am just going to roll with it.

Only now after recent research have I discovered I have had off and on liver malfunction for years, many years. It all reached a crisis recently and I was diagnosed with a non functioning GB. They recommended surgery. I had been researching about GB and Liver and began taking certain supplements to help. The morning of my surgery consult appt, I became ill and had a huge series of BMs which afterward I felt better. I had a CT scan at the hospital which did not show GB stones, but I knew the chances of having sludge could have been pretty high for me. I've had steadily rising cholesterol numbers for 30 years now. No matter what I do, meds or diet or exercise never made any difference. So I had to cancel the appt and resched it. during the days that went by waiting for next appt I was definitely feeling better, less pressure on my right side with occasional flare ups but overall better. The surgeon did not want to remove my GB based on the suggested diagnosis from HDASCAN. I'm not ready to give up on my GB just yet and am focused on getting my liver healthy. Dr. Berg, everything you're saying points to little to no bile production due to high cholesterol. I'm guessing that would make my GB atrophy. I know muscles can be brought back form atrophy so that is my goal to get my liver functioning better which in turn hopefully will get my GB better. A certain book I read say it might take months. That's fine by me as long as I can feel progress, slow is better than none at all. My family, they're just gonna have to get onboard with better foods. Not that we eat badly, but trying to please everyone who is picky is going to STOP. Broccoli whether they like it or not! I have been having hot flashes since 2011. My gynecologist said they should have stopped years ago. Oddly, since ramping up the liver support they are somewhat diminishing in intensity. Still have them, but now I know they're more connected to the liver than anything else. My one concern is fasting. I can suffer with low blood sugar, I hope you can address that because I would love to fast, just fearful of it right now.

I'm so glad I ran into this video. So I have been having pain in the exact spot you are talking about for months.(Also, I had my gallbladder removed 12 years ago) My doctor wants me to see a gastroenterologist. My question for you is what specific diet would you recommend for someone who has a gluten allergy, oat allergy, soy allergy, athreum allergy, rice allergy, hazel nut and almond nut allergy? Thank you for your videos.

I never watch Dr.’s. But I’m falling for you. Haha I have chronic pancreatitis, yes from alcohol. I’m using this quarantine to better myself. I’m one week sober, that wasn’t hard as I really just drank to feel better the next day. To get through life. Sad I know. But I’m still feeling dizzy daily. I have gone to the hospital twice in my life.. about 4 years ago and 8 years ago for the first episode. Both times I felt great afterwards and remained sober for months after, but slowly slipped back into drinking daily again. Since I’m not drinking now, I wanted to see what I can do to lower my high enzymes, as both times I was hospitalized I was told I have high enzyme levels and was not allowed to eat or drink for 2 days both times. I thought I needed to be put on an IV for fluids.. but I’m going to try to dry fast today and tomorrow and see if I get the mind clarity I need and had after the hospital visits. Please keep me in your prayers any advise is welcomed. I would love to get an IV put into me while I dry fast , since that’s what they did at the hospitals both times, but don’t know where or how to get one. So I’m hoping dry fasting let’s my liver and pancreas rest and heal. Maybe corona virus will save my life.

Hi Dr. Berg. First of all, thank you so much for your videos they're extremely valuable. I'd like to add something for the community and for your analysis too if you allow me. I've been a patient with that type of pain area, I have been through different doctors, tests and ultrasounds, no stones, no fatty liver, and no one knows what the cause is. I started doing fasting about three years ago and I have to say that it has a lot of health benefits, that I benefited from. However, I notice that if my fasting is for too long, right after my first meal to break the fast (I have to mention I don't do Keto, I eat everything) I have that pain straightway and it is like a punch that lasts not hours but 2 or 3 days. I realised that all this started when I started doing fasting. Now, not all fasting was bad for me, I am talking about fasting for 16 hours up. My conclusion is that if I am going to do fasting the only one I am doing is circadian fasting (12h-12h), and I have to say Im feeling much better. I would if I can get your thoughts on this? Cheers

❤ you Sir ! You are a angel sent to spread truth about health . I have this issue. Comes and goes. Pain is very bad. Scarey at times. Currently I am free from it and hope it never returns. I have had it all my life n gets worse. They said bile duct. Oddi splinter . But nothing shows up on test and they just wanna cram medicine down ya that causes more issues. Anyways. After following your advice I lost 60 lbs and have kept it off for 3 years now. Hard to believe I was 60 lbs heavier ! I feel better then ever. I eat one meal a day. What I need to do is get your cruciferous supplement !!!! That is next on list. Your gallbladder formula I feel is what gave me relief from the year of pain I was suffering w right side pain ? Thank you so very much ! May God crown you with the most glorious beautiful crown for all of us you have helped. I tell EVERYONE about you. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

The pain started a few weeks after going Keto and the 2MAD :( I’ve reduced fats, whilst still trying to keep macros in Keto. I think trying to be 2MAD is too intense for some of us. Let alone OMAD! I now eat (super healthy) three meals (no snacks) and do ADF. Eat-Eat-Fast (around 37hrs). I do all the good stuff in the video so I might have to resort to bile salts.

My doctor never explained to me what carbon dioxide in the blood means and if it being too low or to high is dangerous or not. But it would be awesome if you could explain it one day because I never knew carbon dioxide in the blood was even a thing.

ALT/AST high. Elevated pancreatic enzymes (Amylase and Lipase). Gallstones and sludge (pre-stone material) are caused by a bile deficiency. Super concentration of cholesterol that turns into stones in the common bile duct. Certain treatments of taking purified bile salts can actually help dissolve bile stones. Consume foods that will help you take the pressure off the bile ducts (cruciferous vegetables). Insulin. If your insulin is too high it will stimulate the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and the para-sympathetic system. The entire digestive system operates primarily under the para-sympathetic system's control. High Carb Diets cause problems - refined carbs, sugar. Lean Protein creates more irritation on the gallbladder and ducts than fattier protein. Combining sugar with fat is going to be very bad. That creates a lot of stress in that area. Insulin Index- (different than the glycemic index) foods that are non-carbohydrates. Whey and Soy proteins and powdered protein will increase insulin and irritate that area. Frequency of eating. Eating 3 meals a day and two snacks never gives the area a time to rest and reset. Omega 6 Fatty Acids. Veg oil, corn oil and soy oil create a lot of inflammation in that area. Eat real whole food and it will keep you out of trouble. Notes to self.

I’ve been on ketogenic with meat and now have bloating because the family likes lasagna, breads and potatoes which I haven’t had in a long while.
