This is a part that Pavarotti was born to play. That smirk on his face, that fire in his eyes, the powerful yet playful voice...What a masterful performance
What i like most about this video is how obvious it is that he is having a great time. That is something present in all his recorded performances, the man was great.
Even if I think that it's true that he normally is having a great time, there's no denying that he is also acting, and he's character is having a very good time in a party. So, perhaps he had a good time, perhaps not we don't know for real. Bit he has proven constantly that he is a great actor
Luciano looks adorable, and his voice, like always, is amazing, but that lady! Makes me scared just looking at her. I have got to get this on DVD soon..

hard to take this. You have to search back, so many great tenors lyrical, old and young, list is too long before you made the decision, the great italian lyric GDS, P was so looking up to, Swedish tenors, and american Neil Shicoff...but to be fair, if back 10 plus years, P's voice is much suited then...
i never really listened to music like this but this piece was played at my grandad's funeral and it finally dawned on me why he was passionate about music like this. Stirkes a special chord.
Wow! These voices are so beautiful! Tomorrow morning I'm going to see my first opera, and it'll be "Rigoletto". Tri-Cities Opera Company in Binghamton, NY has invited several of us for a preview showing. After listening to several of these videos, I am so looking forward to it!
I don't know what has happened with you in this crazy 14 years, but once I heard my first ópera (La Traviata in my case) I've never stopped being a fan of this art form. And Rigoletto is one of my favorites operas
Combine the voice of Luciano and the music of Verdi... PURE MAGIC! No nit picking over technique, etc. just enjoy the sound and I promise you that your heart will skip a beat!
@@eugeniogentili1048 This is a film, not a recording in a studio nor a recording of a live performance. Film has its own methods of recording dialogue and voices, so you cannot compare a film recording to a studio recording or a live performance. When Pavarotti sang in the opera house, voices were not amplified. Performers learned how to project their voices so they reached the very top of tiered seating. Certainly, there were no microphones used for amplification in the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, and at least the very early 20th century because they did not exist. A good number of videos we see today are recordings in studios. The quality of these recordings will be superior to the live recordings. Not the place to discuss microphones for recording purposes in the opera house and in the studio, and microphones for amplification purposes in, for example, outdoor venues. None of the tenors you listed needed to be amplified in the opera house. Neither did Pavarotti. If you enjoy the voices of these other tenors more than Pavarotti, there are many places on RU-vid where you can go and listen to them.
@@flavianofloris4459 invece sì. Lui sì che era popolare da quando si era esibito in palcoscenico. Ciononostante, era diventato una stella internazionale dopo nella carriera ed era guardato da milioni quando la sua voce era già un po' logorata.

Br.1 Maestro Luciano Pavarotti!!! Doktor za sve operske arije i umetnost!!!Neuporediv velicanstven ....King forever!!!🕊️🏆🕊️🌏🌞🕊️✨✨🦜Niko ispred svi su iza!!!
Wonderfull!! Listening to this aria I fell in love with this voice and men at the age of 11, and my Big love to "opera" had began... He is a brilliant! Only one i can compare with hin in this aria is Franco Bonisolli. Listen! :)
They say he was absolutely mesmerizing, even when he was overweight. You don't see a lot of that in his photographs, but once in awhile, when you do, it just blows you to the next kingdom!
@@valasina2015 You are absolutely right. He was something special. I’m not a impulsive type but I would have married him in a heart beat - and I’m not even joking. 🤭 I’m 26 and I cannot count the times I’ve felt heartbroken I was born too late to see him live or write to him. Life can be cruel - or bittersweet.
I have to agree.I have seen Rigoletto a couple of times and this version is really over the top in all respects, one gets eye strain watching, but Pavarotti is great.

Thank you for the lyrics , it makes me tear this act of Rigoletto because of Pavarotti he was such powerfull interpretor his voice is unique. 2006 I heard for this first time Pavarotti singing Questa o Quella , just one year later he died :(
Thank you! It was a wonderful experience! Time flew by! Those amazing sets were awesome, the chorus was wonderful, and while I can't think of the tenors name off hand, (I'm not home right now and the program is not at hand) I though he was amazing and sang so effortlessly! I look forward to seeing more! All my best, Mickey Ray
The English translation of Questa o quella, from Act I Scene i of Guiseppe Verdi's Rigoletto: Amongst the beauties here around, Over me none have control; None can say, "I am preferred;" Equal love I feel for all. Yes, all women are to me Like the flowers of the field. Now to this, I am inclined, Now to that by chance I yield.
Does any know what production of Rigoletto this was, where, and who the director was? Pavarotti great as always and the visuals of the production are fantastic!
This was filmed in the medieval town of Mantua, Italy in the summer palace and Horse Room of the Palazzo del Te. Other scenes were filmed in the surrounding area. For me, this is what makes this film spectacular. Opera fanatics felt opera should only be done in the opera houses. You can research Mantua and see a lot of the places used.
@@merrilynhunt7819 Much obliged. In every corner of Italy, one discovers another masterpiece! I was in Mantua once, but the Palazzo del Te was closed. I'll have to go back.
The only problem with Pavarotti is you now listen to other tenors and....you cannot but compare ...it's going to take some time before there comes another like him. One day I ran from the kitchen when I heard his voice on TV .....who is singing? It was an amazing voice. ....Love at first note.
the music and lyrics habitate pavarotti..it's really a question of cultural sensibility..being italian is quite a advantage..he is so SURE that we can absolutly say that he was the greatest tenor interpret of his time and more...
Translation This girl or that girl are equal to the all the others I see around me, the core of my being I will not yield to one beauty or another their attractiveness is what they are gifted from fate and embellishes life Perhaps today this girl welcomes me perhaps tomorrow another girl will demand me. Constancy is a tyrant to the heart it is a hated cruel disease to only those who want you to be faithful; There can be no love if there is no freedom. Husbands’ jealous rage, lovers’ woes I despise, I defy the hundred eyes of Argo if I fancy a few beauties l
@961111 It's not an aria, just a very short duet between the duke and countess Ceprano. The whole opera Rigoletto is amazing and full of beautiful melodies like this - just listen to the full opera. You could get the DVD of this movie; or if you are interested PBS has a video of a recent Italian tv movie version of Rigoletto filmed in Mantua available on their website (google "PBS Great Performances Rigoletto video" and take first link), just click and watch.
