Nice shirt Phly. Though I really wanna see a Fast Bomber variant of the Mosquito ingame, specifically one capable of carrying the "cookie", a 4000lb/1800kg Blockbuster bomb. Some of this bomber variants are capable of more than 650 kmh, others being capable of even 700. Also I noticed what you mentioned about the AP buff, and I makes a lot of sense they probably forgot about aircraft. Ive been flying the Stuka G-1 quite a lot lately, and damm its somewhat hard to get a kill. You really need to aim the shots, and playing with guns on the wings and 300m convergence, well it's quite hard to do so.

Hey Phly! That's a nice shirt. The reason that the 57mm on the MkXVIII used solid shot is because it was meant to sink ships. The shots were meant to hit below the waterline, and I believe, go straight through to hole the hull on both sides. The MkXVII was a known as the Tsetse after an infamous African fly that spreads sleeping sickness. There were only 27 made after which Coastal command Mosquitos were equipped with solid nose rockets which were more effective, lighter and easier to maintain.

Phly, the engines don't start equally, you powered one up to full before the other was ready, thats what caused the spinning, you have to let them get up to idle before throttling.

The Mosquito Mk XVIII Tsetse's main gun is literally a modified Molins autoloader fitted 6-pounder like those in naval service used on motor gun boats for firing rapid bursts of HE shells, the 6-pounder saw use on land, the sea and the air.

That weird yawning on takeoff was caused by the engines spinning up. One starts up faster than the other. Just let them rev for a bit on the tarmac before throttling up.

did a quick little bit of research. the 57mm 6pdr OQF Mk.V cannon *IS* the same base cannon as the 57mm Molins class M cannon. Molins was the designation for an autoloader for the 57mm that could shoot a six round burst at 1 round per second. on the planes, the cannon was only meant to fire HE with flashless propellants meant for night ops. and ripped directly from the wiki, heres a little tidbit about the 57mm Molins Class M on the mosquito: 'The Molins autoloader was also deployed on a small number of Royal Air Force de Havilland Mosquitos of Coastal Command, which were referred to as the "Tsetse" (after the biting fly). Officially the *QF 6pdr Class M Mark I with Auto Loader Mk III*, it was based on the long-barrelled (50 calibre) gun. It was fully automatic, with a rate of fire of about 55 rounds per minute, with an ammunition supply of 21 rounds. It was intended for use against U-boats and fired solid shot that could penetrate their hulls through 2 ft (61 cm) of water.'

My guess on the subpar fragmentation of the round is due to velocity. Velocity of the round + velocity of the dive must give it so much speed it slices right through the armor breaking into only a few pieces acting like an overpen.

Glad to see they fixed the Tsetse, last time I played it the Mollins gun was about as effective as soggy marshmallows and would somehow phase through shipping (y'know, its entire reason for being) without leaving a scratch. Might have to dust mine off next time I play.

15:50, @PhlyDaily, you should press i and let those fan spinning for a little. Then you can take it off. I used to have that problem when I am trying to take off a bomber plane.

In my opinion, the most satisfying plane to fly in GRB. Low tier (as of now, Mk. XVIII sits at BR 3.3) so it’s not too toxic. It can be exceedingly tricky at first but once you the the hang of it, that flying 6-pounder becomes a hammer. I’ve plonked tanks and aircraft with the main gun and it is just wholesome when the shots land.

The mark 18 had solid shot ap. It was for sinking submarines, not killing tanks. So yeah, you won't see fragmentation. It's for punching into a sub, banging around and then punching back out again.

Concerning the shrapnels my best guess would be the difference in total muzzle velocity. The tank shoots it at let's say 700m/s, but with the plane it's velocity (~600km/h = 170m/s) adds up to that, resulting in a decisevely higher projectile velocity of 870m/s. Shrapnels should have a more focused spread due to that, at least after my logic

For some reason it's incredibly satisfying seeing this kind of Mosquito gameplay. Much more fun to look at than the Duck for instance (Duck is a lot, but not beautiful like the mosquito )

The reason why the musquito's turning on take off is because your going full throttle. Just slightly increase the throttle at the start until its moving and then go full throttle. I'm not sure if its a bug or not but thats just how you need to do it in order to take off and not spin around and crash.
