That's why this video was made - RU-vid is actively suppressing creators. So he has to use patreon to be able to make his content and, you know, live.

Tbh, at first i thought he didnt make animations but used shaders / morphing to make his videos look so good. His skills are fucking fantastic

Normally I'd agree but 2.5 hours of this would be tiring. The reason this is so amazing is it's in short bite sized bits. It doesn't wear out its welcome. A full feature length film would cut out so much of the heart of James' animation as it tries to cater to the masses instead of the fans.

@@JordanWheeler1999 I know you don't have context for this, so it's all good. Everything isn't a competition. I hired James for some animation work back in 2008 for my business. We are friends and we have talked about these things. He has been working on how he wanted to approach marketing his Patreon for over a year now and what I'm saying isn't speculation, its things he's shared with me about his frustration with dealing with how oppressive the RU-vid algorithm is to make a living.

I really like his dark and edgy art style with lighting effects and the blend in between animation and live action stuff he does it gives a lot of early/mid 2000's cartoon vibes like Invader Zim and etc.

RU-vid doesn't want creativity because creativity could potentially be dangerous and advertiser unfriendly. What James needs to do instead is make the one billionth "Animator Reacts" channel so that the algorithm can detect that it's a shitty, soulless copy of existing content and mark it as "safe" and push it onto people's feeds forever.

youtube has lost so much by the stupid executive decisions that don't do jacksilt, Look at Newgrounds for example, So many lovable horrid creations on there unharmed. I wish for youtube to fizzle out, But what'll happen to creators that aren't quick enough is something i don't wish upon anybody's carrier.

The battle to get on the viewers' fyp page is a bloody, never ending, war.

RU-vid is not very kind to shorter high quality videos. His videos probably take a ton of time and effort with very little reward. It's way more profitable to release 10 minutes of unedited garbage than 2 minutes of the best content you've ever seen. So patreon is often used to support creators like this as RU-vid doesn't provide enough for them to survive

Well it's a bit of an unfair comparison to make. James is able to focus on two and a half minutes and put tons of work into it. If James were to make a full length game or film, it would not be anywhere near as good because we'd lose a lot of what makes his shorts so damn good. Going back in time, let's look at the anime FLCL, one of the most highly regarded anime of its time for the high quality animation, polish, script, and etc. Why? Because Gainax took the budget of a 24 episode anime and crammed it into 6, doing away with superfluous story and filler. But yea...the almighty Algorithm is destroying quality creator content. I go to my main page and its the same ten videos over and over again. I mean, I scrolled down to the various categories and one video showed up at least five times on the goddamn front page. AFTER I SAID I DIDN'T WANT TO SEE IT. Anyways....blame YT, not Hollywood, for this kinda bullshit.
