Woah I'm at the point where he fights the jellyfish and encounters the wolf. Very entertaining and all the action taking place. Boks, movies, make yourself famous man.
This is a fun book and I can't wait to read the sequels. The female characters in the book have definitely been a letdown, though. I had high hopes for Merriweather: as a child, she was as cunning as she was annoying, and kind of a badass. Then she's relegated to making sandwiches and popping out babies, and is now literally part of the scenery. And the queen, who one would expect to be the leader of the resistance, gives one speech after a victory has already been won, and otherwise just hangs out in a house apparently not doing anything of significance. We don't even get a compelling female villain or minion. I'm hoping the sequels won't be as much of a sausage party.
@@realskydiver777 It may just be a very male-dominated world--at least the Woodland Realm, anyway. It's not usually DM's style to throw in a lot of superfluous details, so I'm betting Vianette being a dead shot is going to come into play at some point.
This was a great story, I didn't expect the carnage at the end! The painting thing was a bit plot-holy (as the queen and everyone could have hidden there), but I'm eager to buy another! Especially if you do an audiobook, your voices are amazing! Really curious where the story will go:)
(Spoilers) ive been very thoroughly enjoying this book. I havent really had any issues with any of the characters decisions until now tho. I feel like its completetly out of character for lucas to not have hidden at minimum his wife and the queen in the painting before the fight. It absolutely makes it more difficult to direct the story where you are wanting it to go, but its such a massive character misstep to not even have brought it up atleast in a thought to himself. Aside from that im greatly anticipating the sequels to this. Hoping you do the same thing you did this time, as i bought a physical copy but only have the time to listen to books
Wow I'm really looking forward to the next part now. My only question is why they didn't hide in the painting to start with. It was what was on my mind since it became a thing.
I don't want to spoil too much, but in the next two books, especially book 3, Lucas realizes the true potential of his paintings and how they can be used - for better or worse.

It's a little hard to get into at first but now that I'm so deep into the story there's no going back. I usually start listening to the episodes while doing something else but quickly find myself staring into the blank screen of the video and realise "oh damn I'm not actually watching a video". One thing I keep wondering about is why Lucas doesn't use his wand more often. A single creature he created without even the intent to use it as a weapon was capable of driving off all the black eagle soldiers from the town. Why isn't he drawing dragons? It feels like he alone would be capable of tipping the battle in devinstone's favour.

I just thought of something, Lucus could paint a giant 100 story building in a painting that is used to house soldiers that protect his paintings and everyone they are asked to. Maybe Lucus makes animal/human hybrid soldiers that have the mobility of a human sized person but with the added benefit of the traits of the animals, some having magical traits like the giant Jellyfish.
While I am looking forward to the next release, I can't help but be bothered by the fact that veinette didn't go into the painting before the battle. I understand that doesn't suit the narrative (which I enjoyed otherwise) but It just seems like such an obvious choice that it's almost infuriating when they get into the painting after the carnage has ceased
Interesting story, thank you for publishing. I'd give 3 stars because: I think Lukas' magic is too strong and not explained enough. Why doesn't he just draw a comet falling on the black eagle army? Or he could draw his father and bring him back to life? Also I wish there was some strong female characters.
Would any of you recommend this book as a whole? I mean absolutely no disrespect to J.D-I started part 1 but quickly found the writing left a lot to be desired, as descriptive words and the overall vocabulary is very simple and often repeated too much, which I was shocked by because of how intricate and articulate he is regularly on this channel. Is it intended for YA? I don't remember if he said it was or not, but it would make more sense if it was. But overall, does this book have a touch of his mind in it and worth me revisiting?
So If I get this right, the White Eagle/Veroxia has one of Lucas' kids and an unknown army has the other. I think that considering the White Eagle fought the unknown army and that the unknown army killed the queen they are not affiliated with the White Eagle. But they may be connected to Veroxia as knowing them I dont think they would put all their eggs in the one basket of the human White Eagle. Maybe a plan B team or insurance the White Eagle succeeds. Either way I hope Lucas gets his twins back in one piece.
It really goes to show their hipocrisy, they never wanted to rid the world of the Tyrant King, they wanted to keep him in their country so they could rule over their neighbours, disgusting.
They could have kept the princess in the painting and left the town. No one would have ever found them. No dead queen. No kidnapped babies. No rockworm.
LMAO, the Rockworm was unanavoidable, since the general failed the rockworm was sent in, them escaping is also failure as a a result the rockworm would still be sent to raze the town to the ground.
It's like I'm waiting for some kind of sarcastic punchline just because of the candor of your other videos I guess. Or maybe it's a mannerism that's a little bit hard for you to break.
@@TheWuschi yeah, I know the term. But i also know that only self-published amateurs and bad writers use cliffhangers to avoid having to write a proper ending and tap readers into buying the next book. It's a technique developed by serial writers to sell magazines.
@@jingles123456789ify did you ever read Asimiv's Foundation series? How about Dune? Or Hitchhikers Guide? Each of those series has five or more books. And each of those books has an actual ending where the most important plots get completely wrapped up and there's no cliffhangers. So you can shut the fuck up if you think that a "serial" is the same as a "series".
Excellent reading and good writing but the only critique I have is that when your writing try to keep in mind your painting a picture. Try to use more accentuating details. The how where and why are important. Like as they travel the blades of grass and the type of ground are important. If there is a tree what kind of tree. If they are traveling through a river what kind of river. The geology of it is important. There are very many guides online for this. Given I read like rain man speaks so it is especially hard for me to get through things but I liked that the book was not just another RU-vid pc cash grab though.
I know it' makes little difference, since this text was completed way too long ago, but here are my critical impressions: I liked that you subverted, but I didn't like that you didn't subvert enough, there at the end, with the babies. I don't like the fact that you use too much @voice of the author@. That makes the story a but too, um, what's the word, un-polished? And that last bit with the worm thing, I think you got a bit too carried away with it. It could just be me, but making something so awesomely powerful and wholly indestructible and so on, is a sign of bad writing. Or maybe it's the opposite, in which case it's good writing, I don't even know. Why are you reading my ramblings anyway? :)
I think setting up a big bad, who sends a lesser minion and then the minion is awesomely powerful, is a pretty good way to create fear, suspense, and horror/terror
Yeah if the black eagle sees the sons as such a threat why not send the worm before the foreigners kidnap the kids? Sure the Lord of Chaos himself likely would´ve to cook something up to guarantee the babies survival but thats about it.
My dudes, I was once an atheist, I have let my pride take control of me and dropped my heart to oblivion. I don't wanna sound dramatic but that book really changed my life, I mean we All YOLO right? so why not give it a try. I was inspired by Darkmatter2525 but I never thought his hate towards God/Allah will make me go deep to that level of knowledge of that book you so called. Anyways I'm just asking as a human being if not as a friend, find whobyou really are.
I don't want to be rude to my fellow christian people but... their book is changed and hot printed by other people other than prophets, even Isreal has an secret history that they were the one who changed bible into a mindless and nonsense sexual book made and changed by mortals, the history is so secret no one could talk about it publicly. The Quran is a complete book, I whiteness the Quran have changed my life, when I was an amateur and I was a junkie I nearly end up having a lot of metal issues beside the internal organs I have destroyed, Life wasn't easy when I considered myself a GOD, life changed when I found out that I'm his servants. Unfortunately my Christian parents never sought the light of islam nor they did believe to it they died a Christian, but what's a child for if I can't pray for my parents souls for forgiveness. anyways..... I want to tell anyone I see on this planet how that book made me the human I deserve, the person who i was supposed to be, I was once an Christian then to atheism then I become a Muslim. Guys the book is never as it seems, it never changes the words was already written in our minds, I'm not talking about how people portrait or act up on the way how they preserve islam, I'm not talking about terrorists, I'm talking about the book itself, you can't seem to get knowledge if you don't read it for yourself with your own eyes and brain. I will dedicate my entire life so i can save a person or to show them the truth of what they belong to, because of what they belong to is what they really need.
