It’s so funny how many instructors say you should only have one golf swing whether driver or wedge. Every club is different which makes each one unique. I love how Marcus explains how to strike the ball and it’s up to us to make it work for each club. Timing and release have been the two magical things for me. If I hit a not so good shot, I immediately know what I did wrong and I can fix it. My accuracy, length and consistency have dramatically improved in just one month after finding Marcus on RU-vid!

Hi Marcus, great content and simplistic explanations (meaning as Feynman the physicist said that if you can't explain a complicated subject in simple, easily understandable terms to say a new student or layman, then you don't really understand the subject yourself). For me, I also find where on the ball to try and aim for a help for shot making - assuming other fundamentals are in place. But that helps me a bit and you might say is wrong.

Hey Marcus...Love your style and methods...I do find however, I still need to hit a driver from a closed stance with closed shoulders in order to draw the ball...Any suggestions appreciated...
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 8 месяцев назад
You don't need to do it but the closed stance gives you more time to close the club face. Sadly we loose the pushing power and start pulling because the target is behind you. I would do the opposite and hit with an open stance to learn to release earlier and then go back to a normal stance and it will feel easier.

yes...they are different sticks!...I get that...they need specific attention. Good info as usual. oh by the way, you discussed various grip types and mentioned "more power" with baseball type grip and "more clubhead speed" with interlocking grip. Would you be so kind as to spend some time in the future going over that?

Hi Marcus.. thank you for your work. As a big guy your swing has been a revelation. I'm in need of some help with Some things. I'd be really grateful if you could show us a top down version of your shots. I come from a background of racquet sports and cricket. So my body tend to align to where I want to hit the ball in front of me. I've got most of your swing down, and I'm getting into it. However, I just can't seem to spot the point of impact on the ball and my timing is off because of it. I'm quite capable of putting spin on tennis and squash balls, so taking speed on , off, putting swerve on or flicking drop shots etc. So my ability to time is there. I just can't seem to be able to synch with the golf ball.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 8 месяцев назад
Glad you are on your way. The difference between golf and other sports is that we have 14 different tools in golf and only one in every other sport. Imagine a tennis player randomly using 14 different rackets during a game with different weight and size. What happens when your timing is off?
@Dir3ctH3X
@Dir3ctH3X 8 месяцев назад
@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Thank you so much for taking your time to respond to my comment. I know you have a lot to do and I appreciate the response. I agree that the golf is different in that you have 14 different tools to apply to the ball. The way I cope with it is that the ball is moving in cricket, squash and tennis. So my body can adjust itself to meet the point of contact. So spotting the ball becomes the way you control the body. As you say , the body is smart, give it an objective and it will try to meet it. The issue I have at the moment is that when I mistime the ball the power from my swing doesn't transfer into flight. I am built like yourself. Big shoulders, big chest and lot of that power coming through hands. In cricket I can smash the slow ball all over the place. It's just that when I hit the golf ball there seems to a lack of efficiency when I strike the ball. It's as if I haven't made impact at the moment of maximum inertia for the swing and the power bleeds out. I am using your method. So swinging out , using early release and hitting from the inside corner out. The driver swings up, and the irons i get ball-the-ground contact. I'm using a beginner of clubs to understand the game. I do hit the ball 90% of the time, shanks and misses are rare. I tend to have a lower distance slight fade or draw when I hit smoothly. When I try to force the power or speed up I don't seen an increase in distance but a more pronounced draw or fade. I do slice but only when I know I've just whacked it out of frustration - or when I've been messing about with stance or just not controlling my club face.

Marcus, such great insight. Another question I have though is, you say you move up but on your driver swing it looks more back until well after the ball is gone. If you watch your head’s alignment with the framed certificate on the wall. So this might seem picky but do you feel your going backwards is on the down swing angle or on the flight line? And do you believe that the backwards movement gives your clubs so much more snap through the ball. Thanks JS.

Marcus, I’ve watched every one of your videos mate. A number of times. And practice your methods daily. … 300+ yards (and 400+ yards) is effortless for you, and that’s top shelf 👍 However, I’m a mere mortal. All that most of us probably want, is your efficient swing (under the top and well-timed release) with Ernie or Retief’s rythym. Not much to ask I know.. Can you consider a ‘rhythm’ video mate? 270 yards on the fly, without being hospitalised would be much appreciated. I’ve tried for years to ‘break it down’ without much success. Needs motion and arms (hand) but with the right timing, and rythym. So f@cken hard to do. Just a consideration mate. Your friend, Jacko.

@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Hi Marcus, Thanks for the prompt reply. I just realize that there are 2 ways of straightening your trail arm on the downswing. The Irons and driver are different. Irons go down, driver goes back and down. Is this right? I think you are right, I have been using the driver downswing. My body stay on the right side and topped the balls for the fairway woods. Thanks Marcus
