Dimitris Tsakas was the Saxophonist. He is the most recorded saxophonist in the Greek scene. Has worked with the composer Vangelis Papathanassiou(he did the Blade Runner soundtrack.) All around amazing sax player.

chris said that for this song he just wanted to let loose and do whatever wild stuff arises from his brain. i think it's fitting because "the void" where this plays is a place with an ancient being who collects anything and everything to hoard and analyze

Survivors of the Void is indeed a DLC expansion. This is the theme of the alternate final boss added in the DLC.

There's a comment on the original upload of this track that I really love. Survivors of the Void is DLC (like you assumed) and one of the main features are new "corrupted" versions of base game items and enemies. For example, the Ukulele normally does a chain lightning effect, hitting multiple enemies a single time. But, when it becomes corrupted, it changes into the Polylute, which instead hits just one enemy several times. Similar but opposite is the idea. Essentially the comment points out that even this song follows that same idea. It's very "Risk of Rain 2" sounding, but at the same time sounds almost nothing like the rest of Risk of Rain 2's soundtrack. That sax in particular. This is the only instance of saxophone in the OST. It's like one of the usual instruments "corrupted" into a saxophone, etc. If I'm honest, this track is not particularly high up on my list of favorite RoR2 tracks (which is really my list of favorite songs, period, btw). But still, I just love that idea so much and Chris did an amazing job as usual.

Risk of Rain 1 and 2 are both sonically incredible.

My favorite part of the solo is that it sounds like people screaming at each other

This song always makes me feel like I’m in a place I don’t belong, the void is not for us and man this song makes you feel it

This song plays in the end game after the end game. Like you have won the rogue like, one of the hardest out there and then you decide to not get your prize and go even deeper and fight a Creature Spider Cyclops from the Abyss while floating whales are in the background swiming in a planetarium. The sax, for me, is the player improvissing everything to not die and the guitars are the monster batteling us.

Im not sure what exactly is said following the end of the solos, but i think the first word they say in "entaxi" which is essentially greek for alright or ok, so it sounds like somone (probably chris) adressing everyone with a verbal cue for the reset.

Honestly I'd say this is my least favorite track from this DLC's OST but it's still a banger, kinda wished it leaned into the freeform jazz metal style more. Really hoping that Once In A Lullaby or They Might As Well Be Dead come up soon

if you wanna hear some metal with sax then the band rivers of nihil is a must-listen. they have both melodic and chaotic sax sections and it all sounds so sick
