Brad's vlogs are the reason I started watching poker videos and wanting to play. I downloaded a mobile app to play, but I need to actually play it for real to learn good playstyles. Problem is, being a college graduate, all my cheapskate friends are saving their money LOL.
Yeah, me too. His style of playing really smart but then mixing things up like he did in this video is refreshing. Im sure this will work well for his table image in the long run. Nice comeback brad.
Wrong, all players have a range, some just have very wide ranges, but it does narrow as you bet. This range theory is some of the most genius stuff I've learned thus far about poker. I've been a casual player throughout my life and only play against other casual players.
@@danielgwiltsoftware “very wide range” translates to “any two cards” you can’t play against players like that using a typical range chart. I’ll play you heads up anytime and prove it to you!
I've been playing poker for the past 5 months with friends and online and haven't taken it to a real cash game yet but the improvements I have made in the last 3 weeks from watching your videos is insane. Keep it up Brad!!
Out of all the good contents from your videos, this one is my favorite not just displaying some poker skills when you have good cards but understanding that even when you have bad cards you can win by your bet size and knowing your perceived range. As they say, it does not matter what hands you are dealt but it's how you play. Great job man! Cheers for the Philippines.
As somebody who toys with the idea of doing it full time, I really appreciate you sharing the highs and lows, and wishing you well :) Since I've been playing properly (6 months or so, though only about 1 week per month equivalent working hours, 51 sessions) I've got into a real routine before I leave my house. I play with my pet, make dinner, drink water, put on some "battle music", and revise my playing data. I for sure think eating and drinking is hugely important for a long and/or unsocial hours session. I've had a tough May, almost my first ever loss making month, though only -£200. Not playing bad on the whole, just losing lots of 80% / 90% scenario's. Finally over the weekend I have one of those nights where I can't miss and poker feels like the easiest game in the world, and suddenly after my best ever night at £1/£2 (1610+ from 7 hours) poker feels good and May is a solid month after all! I've been introducing more aggression into my game, and I had been starting to doubt that approach, but I think I just need to stick out the variances and keep confidence in myself. Hopefully you've just had a rough period too and this new approach will work for you.
It's a Meet Up Game so I'm happy to splash around (eg: that hand that I bluffed big just to win $5 from Andrew). Bluffs worked so I stuck with that strategy and cashed in on my ordinarily tight image.
@@BradOwenPoker Somedays your good hands just don't hold up, you really need to cash in your ordinary tight image to dig yourself out of the hole. Good thing that no one else on the table was running good while you did that.
I've been playing poker for a long time. Watching Brad really challenges me and makes me question how good I thought I was. Brad your videos are refreshing and really challenge me to get better. Thanks for sharing.

Dude, I am glad somebody else realizes how important it is to eat big before a long session! I kept getting halfway through a session and would start feeling bad or zoned out and starving. I’m hypoglycemic and it greatly effects my thought process in poker. Eating before a big session really changed the entire session for me
Like this one! My normal playing-style (when I am tired and want to make it easy.) A losing one in the long run by the way (at least against good player) but perfect to use in some situations. :-) I guess it can be a dream in a meet-up situation where you change tables. (less time to adjust to your playing-style.) Anyway. Happy that you turned it around. (Also like your analysis of the poker-site (PKC) and the way you presented it in the segment.) Instead of being a distraction it gave me added value. Thanks Brad! :-)
My two favorite things to watch on youtube are stand up comedy and poker clips. I challenge anyone to watch Brad Owens and Steve Hofstetter back to back and not question if they were hatched from the same egg...
What do we learn from this session little poker kids ... yes, drunk Brad is a maniac. I love this sesscion ... winning a ton of money with just one value hand. Bluff every time and get it through. I want so see more of this.

Remember.... the best hand doesn't always win.... sometimes the bold come out ahead.... the trick is knowing when that play is going to work and when you're going to get called by a better hand or someone else that's feeling bold!!!! @@BradOwenPoker I think it's poor reasoning to say you had 15 outs but also 1k implied odds. You can't figure your equity by assuming the best care scenario AND also assume you have max implied odds if you hit all of those outs.
@@BradOwenPoker Don't you have far less than $1000 implied odds though? Id argue if he doesn't make a set on the river he doesn't put another penny in the pot
Not being afraid to pull the trigger when the card is good for your range is a recipe for success. I think this is how you should really play all the time.

You have to give Brad mad props on how fast he was easy to fold that KK hand. Many people just call just to see the bad news....when your a pro like he is though, you save your money and that's the difference from a pro to a fish. Discipline is everything and you just accept a bad beat. Hope the bad luck changes which it always does.

I think you came in with the right strategy. Sometimes you need to change things up especially if you are becoming a little predictable or on a losing streak. I think you bluffed with some good reasoning and it worked well. Loose and aggressive is tough to play against and is usually a winning combination. Good one Brad.

yup we got biiiig money down here in texas! But on the other hand, this is one of his 1st videos in austin where i've seen guys calling big turns bets & then folding the river, not a very common thing.

Wow! That first hand was similar to my experience last night! Went all in with KK and was called by two players. One had A4 and the other had A5 of diamonds. Two of their outs were gone plus cards they needed for a straight. Nothing on the flop but one diamond. All set to triple up and get back into the tournament!! Got screwed by the river which gave the A5 his flush. I was so pissed...
You did not play like a lunatic bro, you played the opponents and even tough risky, it does wonders with people who don't really know how you usually play. I usually play like a "lunatic" and it did wonders for me as the "fear of losing is higher than the desire to win" in like 80% of cases :D
Straight from the Brad Owens stuck to unstuck strategy handbook: "If you're going to bet, bet big, and if you're going to check, check raise!"...and bluff more!
Must be cool to just randomly have a Poker Card Club in a strip mall next to a Sherwin Williams paint store and probably a Ralph's grocery, a CVS, and a Starbucks for good measure. Lol. Wish we had that kind of clubs here in LA.
I can sit for hours in different session and I can bet that I'd get a 2% chance getting as good hands as you do. In one night, played for 6 hours, I got a face card 4 times. And it was paired with something no one would ever call or raise with

Nice vid brad! I just wanted to say thanks for your vids. I have learned some moves in certain situation from you that have help me at the tables. I’m typically a 1/3 player but I played my first 2/5 session yesterday and bought in for 1500 and walked out with 2300. I found out there are less donkeys in a 2/5 game then a 1/3 game.

Backdoor: 2 runner cards will make the hand. Example, you have 2 clubs in hand, one on flop. Backdoor flush draw means you have a chance of runner runner club for a flush. Set: Usually a pocket pair that hits on the board for 3 of a kind
