Honestly, I MUCH prefer the theater. I don't know about Broadway. In fact, I know next to nothing about Broadway. However, my experience with local theater has been, with only one exception, wonderful. And as I said in another comment, I have seen special young children absolutely BLOOM from their experiences on the stage. They are taught to be confident in themselves, not just when it comes to acting or singing or dancing, but just BEING. Being in public, with people watching you, and still holding onto your sense of self. Not to mention the help it gives in public speaking. AND, even the most spoiled brat must accept direction, in a stage production, unless the spoiled brat is also the director. And whether you're working on stage, at an office, or out on a road crew, you need to be able to accept direction. It's a truly valuable skill. However, local theater is sort of self-limiting. The rehearsals are done in the evenings, and CANNOT last all day long, every day. And the play runs for a few weeks, and then it's switched for something else. Even if a child wants to be in every show, it's unlikely they will be, because the parts are limited and varied. The only guarantee is that there will be at least one adult part in every show. So, yeah, local theater is awesome. Once you get onto a professional scale, however, the limits are removed, and it's possible to destroy a person's life with overwork, and excuses for why they just HAD to do this thing or that thing, "In order to get the performance we need, to please the audience and to create great ART." And that is where things start to go off the rails. Like the way they forced Judy Garland to take drugs, just to keep going at the ridiculous pace they set. Not to mention the DANGEROUS scenes they filmed with her, WITHOUT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. "Oh, sure, she could have died, and she DID injure herself, but we got the shot! Give her a few pain pills, and a good night's sleep, and she'll be ready to perform again tomorrow!" You just don't get that in local theater, because unless you live in a horror-movie town, the people in town won't LET you.

The way she was treated and exploited, now wonder she turned to drink.

Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas are Spanish. Salma Hayek is Mexican, so Latina although she also has Lebanese heritage like Shakira who is Colombian. Cameron Diaz is a white Latina. But perhaps Spanish people could still be seen as not white like the Irish and Italians too. They were seen on the same level as black people. After her transformation to the red haired Rita she was stunning. She glowed. Also I didn't like the way she looked with the bleach blonde hair either. It lowered her stunningness a couple pegs as well.
