Lmao right?! Cause he is an actor it's the movie. Lol i just want to shout that out her so bad. Shocks me to this day that not many people have seen this film yet.
Los Lobos did a great job in playing this song for the movie "La Bamba" and Lou Diamond Phillips did an awesome job at portraying Ritchie Valens. Do listen to Ritchie Valens original version of La Bamba, plus Donna and Come On Let's Go
Ritchie Valens was a legendary 1950s Rock singer and guitarist. "La Bamba" was his biggest hit song. He had some other hit songs, such as "Donna" (a love ballad), and "Ohh! My Head".
This was a scene from the 1987 biopic La Bamba starring actor Lou Diamond Phillips in the role of the real life 1950s rock n' roll singer Ritchie Valens. The singing was actually done by the group Los Lobos which became a soundtrack for the film. Los Lobos even had their own music video with scenes from the film. Sadly the real Ritchie Valens was killed in a helicopter crash in 1959 along with popular singers Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper when he was just seventeen years old. I saw the movie when it came out in the theatre and have seen Los Lobos music video plenty of times back then. It was great film.
My sweet India. Ritchie Valens was a wonderful Latino rock and roller from the 50s who died with Buddy Holly the Day the Music Died, a tragic 1959 plane crash. I think he was still a teenager.
That is not Ritchie's image here, but Lou Diamond Phillip. That isn't even Ritchie's voice, but the group "Los Lobos". Ritchie was the first Latin American R & R star and was dead at 17. This song is an adaptation of a traditional Mexican song.
This video is from the movie La Bamba. That's the actor Lou Diamond Phillips, playing Ritchie Valens. Los Lobos did the cover of the song for the movie. Ritchie Valens was only 17 years old when he died in a plane crash, along with Buddy Holly(22 years old) and J.P. Richardson(aka The Big Bopper)(28 years old). I read somewhere that when they found Ritchie Valens body, his head was split in half.
La Bamba is an Old School Folk Song by Mexican Sailors and Fisherman who were hard drinking party people who loved to drink party and dance after coming of the sea with their Bounty and Fiesta!
La bamba is a traditional Mexican song of unknown author. It belongs to the musical genre called "son jarocho" and is recognized as a popular hymn of the state of Veracruz, in Mexico, this is a version of rock n´roll
Yes,this is the FINE actor Lou Diamond Phillips, singing the Ritchie Valens song La Bamba.the movie is great, with a stellar performance also by Esai Morales as his brother. The real singer died in a plane crash just as his career started...😪
Bye Bye Miss American Pie , drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry . And good ole boys drinking whiskey and rye singing this will be the day that I die , This will be the day that I die .
India, yes play the original this version is from the movie. In 1969, on their way to do a concert in Fargo North Dakota (my home state) Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper, and Buddy Holly crashed their airplane in Iowa just after finishing a concert in Clear Lake. Hope this helps! realdeal
The night the music died .. Bye bye miss american pie ... And their plane went down in clearlake Iowa. .. America pie check out that song it relates to budy holly and Richie Valance .. And the Big Bopper .. Its mucic history 101 😂😂thanks for the clips .. That qas lew diamond phillips by the way😎😎
this is actor Lou Diamond Phillips the movie LA BAMBAthe biographical story of singer Richie Valens the movie was Lou Diamond Phillips 1st starring role & it also made him a household name & a star Lou Diamond Phillips actually sang La Bamba (he DIDNT lip sinc) but he had to learn enough Spanish 2 do it cause he didnt speak it English was his first language he was born, raised and grew up in Texas
this was big because of all spanish words still got tons o play on many English US stations. When he, richie valens, buddy holly, and the big bopper, died together in a plane crash: that was referred to in Don Maclean's American Pie song as the day the music died, and because of his young age, to latinos, one could compare the Valens tragedy to Selena's death.
It's a month late (February 2 was "the day the music died"), but memorial/celebratory reactions to "Chantilly Lace" (by J. P. 'The Big Bopper' Richardson), "That'll Be The Day" (by Buddy Holly), and either "Donna" or "La Bamba" (the originals, by Richie Valens) would be very nice.
Yo no soy marinero. Soy Capitán. I love that line... I'm a Navy veteran. Hablo poquito Español. (I speak a little Spanish). Just enough to get lost. I was stationed in Puerto Rico for two years.
Yep a scene from the movie la Bamba. Check it out. This was a reenactment of his last performance at a concert in clear lake iowa with the great buddy Holly and the big bopper Richardson. Their tour bus broke down so buddy Holly rented a plane to go to next city but could only take 2 others so flipped a coin between Richie and a then unknown musician Waylon Jennings. Richie won the toss and went even though he was terrified of planes. He didn't really win because the plane crashed and all died. He was just 17. Check out his other songs oh Donna, come on let's go
Lou Diamond Phillipsis an actor who played the part of Ritchie Valens. The real Ritchie's name was actually Ritchie Valenzuela. This is from the 1987 biographical movie based on his life. The real Ritchie actually unfortunately died in a plane crash in 1959 not long after the success of this song.
Richie Valens (Valenzuela). Sang La Bamba, a Mexican wedding song as a rock and roll song and had a big hit with it. He died in a plane crash with Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper. Changed his name to Valens because of prejudice toward Hispanics in the 50s
This version of the song was not sung by Ritchie nor Lou. It was sung by the music group Los Lobos for the movie. This film is one of my favorite 80s flicks.
Ritchie Balens is part of the day the music died when he , Buddy holly and The Big Bopper on witch American Pie by Don McLean (Febuary 3, 1956) died in a plan crash just out side Clear Lake Iowa.
The movie and album came out in 1987 because I brought the cassette liner lyrics to Spanish class and my teacher translated it for me. I love this movie. My mom bought me a record when I was a child with songs from the 50's on it and his song Donna (A song the real Ritchie wrote for his real girlfriend) was on it. The song La Bamba is actually a Mexican folk song and Ritchie made it Rock n Roll gold.
Mexican folk song, it is an ancestral song of Mexico from the State of Veracruz since 1800 when the original version was written and it is used in celebrations, to this day.
Ritchie Valens died in a plane crash he also died with the Big Bopper or known as JP Richardson and Buddy Holly and they called it The Day the Music Died and that's why Don McLean wrote American Pie based on that event
This version is by Los Lobos, I LOVE this version. And in La Bamba (the Ritchie Valens bio-pic) he was played by the then debuting young actor Lou Diamond Phillips. Whom you would likely know
It's a movie> Richie is played by Lou Diamond Phillips..Richie died in a sad plane crash & w/several other big names at the time..First Latino star, died young..
Yeah. That was Lou Diamond Phillips. But he was pretty spot on. I love Ritchie Valens. You really should watch the movie. It's called La Bamba. When people say it's the day the music died, it's when Buddy Holly, the big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens plane went down and they all passed away.
Ritchie Valenzuela was a very charismatic and sexy guy who could really sing at only 17. That is why Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper wanted him to tour with them. Women loved Ritchie.
One of the best. You should listen to Donna, a beautiful but sad song. Richie Valens died along with the Big Bopper and Buddy Holly, together in a plane crash. That was the day the music died.
I was gonna point out that this is not Ritchie Valens but I see that many people have already beat me to it. The original is not as upbeat as this cover by Los Lobos is but the original is a great tune and Ritchie took a huge risk musically taking an old Mexican folk song and turning it into a rock song. The kid was way ahead of his time and had he not been killed at the young age of 17 I truly believe many would have him ranked today in the top 5 of greatest rock n' rollers of all-time!
@@beverlymendheim5691 Uhm ok. Thanks for that? 🤔 For the record, I did not declare it was the pinnacle of knowledge on the subject of Ritchie Valens. Just said it was a good movie. 😉✌
This scene is from the movie La Bamba starring Lou Diamond Phillips......great song very classic a true masterpiece by Richie Valens and of course great movie👍👍
That dude in the music video is actually an actor. My dad used to play and sing this with his guitarr.. he was so good i actually tought he was on radio everytime it played. He died when i was five.. i really appreciated your reaction and the fact u took the time of your day. You are stunning and id love to share some great songs if ur interested. God bless you sister
If you want to understand just how popular Ritchie Valens was do a Google search for the phrase "The day the music died" All the developed nations were in morning.
India, Lou Diamond played Ritchie in the movie, but lip synced the words so you were hearing Ritchie. Very sad he was taken so young. A plane crash, same that took Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper. Don MacLean wrote a song about this called "American Pie" ( The Day the Music Died). You may have already reacted to that song...you do so many, I can't remember, lol!
Saludos India Reacts
