Took the family out in the R1S over the weekend to see how it'd hold up with some off road trails and rock crawling. Everyone has a blast, and the SUV is more than capable of hitting the trails!
How fun. I put down the $1K deposit to reserve an R1S about a week ago. I suppose it will be a year and a half or so, but I'm looking forward to the fun. My Jeep Rubicon has been wonderful, but by then it will be time to retire it and go electric. Best wishes.
Just bought some satin black 3M vinyl on Amazon and did it myself. Took me about an hour and a half and cost $50. Hardest part was the corners, but even that wasn't too terrible with some patience. Wheels were also vinyl trim pieces that I bought online for about $40.
This is awesome. Did you air down at all? We have a 2023 Subaru Ascent and are a family of 6 (oldest is 10, youngest is 1). How's the space for the car seats and trunk space behind the 3rd row? We are looking at a full EV for a 2nd vehicle, but want it to also be offroad capable. We overland and did Utah BDR sections 1, 2 and 3 last October. Going back for Sections 4, 5 and 6 this year. We drove through Moab, but no rock climbing for us since we were just passing through (stayed the night there camping). It's an awesome place! We have a couple of Rivian owners in our local offroad group that love going out in the local area (PNW).
I’d say if only rivian would come up with a software update that simulates a “locker” basically making the tires turn at the exact same speed no matter what , it would be nice. Seems so easy via software. No need to buy locker or regear. Yet they just let that go to waste with their quad motor setup. The could be doing so many cool things with software and maybe even an off-road summon , basically moving your Rivian with your phone like an RC car . You can even have off road “pivot “ by just letting one tire spin , like the tank turn they also promised. They should steal some of Tesla software people to get the job done. Not sure what sorry ass B team they got there now , but they clearly have no imagination. So much is possible with quad motor ev with just software yet blah … we get “ floor it and let the poor Rivian attempt to figure out what you wanna do then it might climb over a tiny little rock”. Like no bitch , I have 800hp and instant TQ , when I press that shit make all my tires go. I don’t give a crap if I snap a CV I’m trying to off road and have a good time. Such a cool concepts but so far every single Rivian video is equal to a Subaru Forrester . No offense .
