the oil cooler for the motors goes into a water heat exchanger they use this to warm the batteries. As well as running the motors in a less efficient mode to pre condition for DC fast charging.
it is a big pack one thing I have to try is to start a charging sesh when the pack is below 32 degrees the rivian should stall the motors to warm the pack like a tesla does you can hear them humming@@Teslavangelist
@@keenanjeff true it's big, I just would have thought it could shunt heat fast enough to keep temps below 200°. I notice the heat is much more intense when on conserve mode bc it's only using front motors
@@Teslavangelist Yes people were noticing that on reddit. In reality PM motors can get up to around ~350F before they will be damaged. But yes they should use that heat more effectively. I think the resistive cabin heater is stand alone.
