Yesterday our kids were all in school for the first time since March, so we decided to go get some lunch. In Atlanta. It was a beautiful overcast day for some IFR flight, so we made the trip to Gwinnett County Airport (KLZU) in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The ceiling was fairly low so we had to shoot the RNAV approach down to minimums. Once on the ground, we enjoyed a great lunch at The Flying Machine, an on-airport restaurant. Thanks for following along

Great vid Alan! Curious why you need to fly with the cowl flaps open in cruise and descent? Please have your wife wear her shoulder harness! You might consider BAS inertial reels. Both my wife and I love them in our T210M. Best to you!

When I first went in that men’s restroom I just knew I had walked into the ladies. When I realized it was a mannequin, I laughed.....hard!! I need to make it up to McMinn to see the Swift Museum sometime.

Hey man, Enjoy your adventures! I'm looking at 210's right now, having a crap time finding reasonable insurance, you have luck? I'm out here in Utah Idaho country and will need a turbo. Thanks for the vids!!

Alan I'm looking forward to getting my IFR Rating and now I got to finish my work getting ready to take the real deal one day . Flying between layers looking good but getting on top is better depending on my route and Altitude I would file for which I'll be starting to do in a 172 Skyhawk without the G1000

The upper layers were much too high for my plane to ascend above, nor would it have been practical to climb that high given the relatively short trip. Above all the layers is fun, but flying between them is beautiful too!

Great video. My wife will go flying with me but is silent as a stone, tense, and overall miserable. Wish I could find a way for her to enjoy it more like your wife does. Cheers! Col D

My wife has been flying with me since basically my first lesson so she is used to being in a small airplane. She does occasionally get nervous during a gusty landing or low ceiling approach, but generally she is pretty comfortable with it.

Now to catch up on the older videos. :) BTW, is that clicking/popping static sound when you are receiving on the radio due to alternator interference or something? The intercom quality is perfect, so I was just curious about the radio quality.

This has been brought up to me a few times, and it's something we are trying to get worked out. A few pilots have mentioned interference with the mags. It's probably something I'll have looked at on the next annual. It's definitely more noticeable whenever I am in instrument conditions. Also, thanks for subscribing!

@@alanbrockaviation9805 I hope you have it fixed by now. I had the same sound, it turned out to be a loose spark plug nut. Anything that lets the electrons leak out would sound the same.

Alan would it be easier to pickup a IFR Clearance on the ground before getting airborne? I did one on the Ramp for the first time and to get this one is to listen

Not at my home airport. It's out of radio range for the nearest clearance delivery so you have to call a phone number for clearance and that's a bit of a hassle sometimes and can add considerable time on the ground. If you can remain clear of clouds, in my case it's easier to get clearance in the air.

Her comment: “what kind of trip did you bring me on?” LMaO I can picture telling her an easy, task free very enjoyable scenic route. Takes off right into IMC. I’d feel safer asking another pilot or CFI to ride shotgun flying IMC. Just would hate having someone tell my kids that mom & dad had an accident practicing IFR flying. Her not interested or even asking to close her eyes during final approach. It’s all fun & games until an event happens. If you as pilot ever had a health issue could she fly plane & talk with ATC?

Not yet, but we are going to have her take a pinch-hitter course soon just in case she ever needs to land the plane. We have had her practice a bit in flight simulator though! :)

Actually, as far as I know this has been the tail number for at least a decade...maybe even longer. I'm a relatively new owner on the plane so it could have been different in the past. I'm glad you enjoy the videos from out west! I'll be heading back there very soon.

I didn't request it, it was just assigned for a short period of time. I thought it was a strange number, but I'm imagining it was to clear space for traffic. Atlanta is quite busy!
