That tongue twister opening was tough and you are right, he's improving greatly. And I too, like his rock voice!! I would take him back to the 60s and 70s for singers to cover. So much gold there!! 💛
I enjoyed your reaction (as I usually do), and I agree with you: his “rock” voice is amazing, and the ending, however impressive, sounded out of place to me. Still this is one of my favorite covers of this song. 😃

Sir, Celine Dion had a strong accent when she started and if you pay close attention she still has an accent here and there and this has never been an issue, television and Hollywood actors have a variety of accents and we still love their performances. Americans in general even find it charming when someone speaks in English with an accent, it seems to me that his talent here is being minimized to a degree because he has an accent, which you constantly remind us. Well, we know that, I believe we all have noticed, but still we choose to support and concentrate on his efforts rather than on his mispronunciation of the words. This, if not to him is discouraging to many who is attempting to learn how speak in English or in any other language.
I didn't mean any disrespect by what I said. I have said over and over how much I appreciate his talent and his voice. I even said it in this video. I am sorry if my actual reaction to what I was hearing was not what you wanted.
I definitely appreciate talent & there's no question this guy Gabriel has skills. But let's keep it a buck & not BS ourselves or anyone else by gravitating on only the good yet blinded to anything bad just to pacify sensitivity. Like I said Gabriel has an excellent set of pipes & octave range, so don't get it twisted like I'm a negative Nicky. I just feel if we're gonna play, play fair & lay all the cards on the table. Not try to hide an Ace up our sleeve & cheat each other, ya dig? It's not only Gabriel's annunciation of words that differs in his performance on "Don't Stop Believing'." IMO he also lacks the true vibe & feeling that's needed in the song & made it so great in the first place like Perry did. Which brings me to another thing I wanna point out too! Again no disrespect to Gabriel but how anyone could possibly believe that Gabriel actually sings this song even better than Steve Perry is absolutely ridiculous & quite silly. Seriously, talk about disrespecting someone, if the shoe fits. There's a very good reason why Steve Perry is AKA "The Voice." Even as many great vocalist's there are in music, it's almost unfair to anyone who tries to sing a cover version of any of those iconic Journey tunes with Steve's voice on them really. Throughout the entire history of music there's a handful of male vocalist's who always make the top of the lists & Steve Perry's one of them.
