Great video, Canada has turnpike doubles, but only on divided highways, and different provinces have different rules for the rocky mountain doubles. B and super B are pretty much coast to coast. The Yukon, where I am from, runs up to 10 axle supers( tri drive tractor and a six axle B train. Only 77000 kg, but different roads from Oz
That law changed in about 2003. Open road speed limit in NT is now 130kmh for LIGHT vehicles. Open road speed limit for heavy trucks EVERYWHERE in Australia is 100kmh. cheers.
here in the U S we don't really call them road trains, but on the interstate system, you can have up to three pup trailers. the state of michigan calls them B-trains. and out west along the pacific they haul one 53 foot trailer and a pup together. it's called a rocky mountain double.
The open road speed limit for trucks in South Australia is 100kmh, as it is everywhere in Australia. I live in South Australia, I also have a South Australian Heavy Truck licence. cheers.
Apart from Australia. What other countries allow Road Trains on *Public Roads* and how many trailers are they allowed ? It's something I've wondered since I saw my first triple :-)
hahahahaha....thanks so much friend!! i am from spain and i am trucker here!! watch out for sharks in you visit in australia!!! canada?? ice road truckers!!!! hahahaha
and i have seen in upstate NY they have twin 53's and i think those are called turnpike doubles.. I may be mistaken but when I saw the first one pass me i did a double take and couldnt believe what i just saw and i thought it was 2 trucks next to eachother and it was my eyes playing tricks till i seen a couple more lol
I have driven in Ohio. UPS has triple empty trailer truck trains there. Empty means the tractor rides the middle lane and the trailers constantly swing from lane one to lane three and back.
Question.....In the last clip with the red volvo what are the pipes going into the hubs on the first and third axles? Never seen them before, at a guess its sensor for heat or a oiling system to keep oil cool, as oil heat up and expands it goes up the pipe and gets cooled by the air?? :S
Wow monster trucks in the UK the maximum legal weight limit on the roads is 44 tonnes which also incudes the truck weight. What happens if they break down middle of nowhere do the drivers carry satellite phones or is there good cellphone coverage
I the uk im just back from NZ after my 2nd stint, but in the UK we flash our headlughts when its safe to pull in, you do not seem to do this in OZ think it would help being so long??? NZ hit and miss if they do or not
@johnnyfarnham You read my message wrong. I was saying why is the car driving 100 and the road train 110 :-) It has to be annoying to the truck driver to have to overtake a slow going car. I know the Australian traffic rules.. i've been driving there 40000km over 7 months and another 12k next month ;-).
Chances are the cars speedo is wrong, most factory speedos are set 5-10% on the safe side, so if the speedo says 100kph, chances are its only doing 90-95kph. The trucks speedlimiter will be set to REAL 100kph, hence why he is overtaking whilst being perfectly legal
First, you could not cross the river at that speed with a Volvo, you would ripp off all the plastic air lines. Secondly, Adolf had no idea what real elbow room was, if he did, he would not waste his time on Europe.
