In an interview the guitar player said that they are planning,at some point in the future,to release an only featuring album,in which every single song will be sang by the singer of the band that they are parodying in that song...Wouldn't it be incredible?
My favorite part is: -dribbles and shoots the dude in front of him -"I DID NOT TOUCH HIM" -gets a yellow card I laughed so freaking hard I had to pause the video. The reference to Castel Saint Angelo also had me giggling. As well as the very end with the key change and force ghosts.
This song proves to me what can be accomplished with real dedication to detail. When Herman Li of Dragonforce made the "writing a Sabaton song in 10 minutes" video and it sounded almost more like Alestorm, I was laughing my ass off, but they really only captured the "war" element. This. This is what it is to truly write a Sabaton song from the perspective of another band! 12/10, beyond perfection.

A song that's both funny and interesting, encapsulating the heavy metal vibes and also the sabaton sort of metal. Gotta love it's about football and i absolutely laugh looking at joakim trying to be serious when singing it

I think USA '94 is one of my earliest sport memories. I do remember the general disappointment at him. But in all fairness I think it was because he massively carried us through the whole bracket stage, if not for him we would have likely left at the round of 16
You gotta give credit to Joakim and Sabaton though. Most bands would easily distance themselves from covers and particularly parodies, especially more 'negative' ones. Sabaton on the other hand get stuck right in to all of that, delving head-first in to cooperation. It's honestly really great to see a band who can take a joke and even get involved, instead of ignore or bitch about it.
A bit of extra context for the video: Baggio was extremely popular and beloved by EVERYONE in Italy at the time, and penalties were his specialty. When he missed the last one, it was unexpected and he went from beloved popular hero to scapegoat in the blink of an eye (at the time, both Italy and Brasile had 2 world cup titles so the rivalry was strong during this final game). For a lot of Italian football fans at the time, it was indeed a shocking loss and people are still lamenting it today.
They both had 3 world cups. The rivalry was big though. In 1970 Brasil won their third title against Italy in Mexico few days after the famous Game of the Century (Italy-Germany 4-3), while in 1982 Italy won their third title against Germany after beating the legendary Brasil of Socrates, Falcao and Zico and still today brazilians consider that game one of the big three "football tragedies" of Brazil together with 1950 Maracanazo and the most recent 2014 Mineirazo. Unfortunately that rivalry now is weaker since Italy and Brazil after 1994 didn't play against each other in world cup games anymore.

I feel like I need to explain a couple jokes: The one that sings the first verse, named "Maurizio Kyiv", is a spoof of the legendary Maurizio Mosca, that was a sport journalist and the one doing the field-side commentary during USA '94. His last name, Mosca, in english would be translated as "fly", as the insect, but in italian Mosca is also the name of the city Moscow. Since we all know what's happening involving Moscow, they changed the name to Kyiv, to point out their view I think. The "Immortal" after Joakim's line on Baresi is probably a reference to what Baresi actually accomplished: it was his first game of the World Cup, despite being probably the best sweeper in history, that's because only 23 days before that game he sustained an injury to the meniscus, that normally would put a player out of action for at least a couple months. The announcer is Bruno Pizzul, entire generations watched soccer in Italy hearing his voice. The "divine ponytail", it was, and still is, the nickname of Roberto Baggio, a player that is considered one of the best players in history. He was so famous and admired a lot of people had a ponytail like him (yeah, me included).
I will add a couple more: - the ball they use is not the same but a very similar one to the one used in 1994. The ball is a Adidas Tango/Tango Espanha, which might be a reference to 1982 World Cup won by Italy... or maybe just a easier to find ball :D - All the names at the beginning are puns on band members stage names: a aside the mentioned Maurizio Kyiv, the only one a bit tricky is Aladino Baggio, a mix of Dino Baggio (real midfielder in that game) and Aladino (italian for Aladdin), a pun on the guitarist stage name. - the tombstone at the end is in the shape of Ciao mascotte of 1990 Italy hosted Fifa World Cup (and another sad story for Italians) - this may be obvious, but while the in Italy we like jumbo screens for these kind of games, AFAIR there was no screen on Castel Sant'Angelo, this is just a pun on Sabaton's The Last Stand
Look the player's names: Giangatto Baresi = Franco Baresi; Roberto Baffo = Roberto Baggio; Iunonadoni = Roberto Donadoni; Aladino Baggio = Dino Baggio. It's a joking with the football player's names of the Italy team in 1994. At the finish the head in the sky is of Bruno Pizzul (a famous italian radio commentator) that commented the match in 1994 for italian people. We ask the original broadcast of 1994. I was at a Nanowar of Steel concert last Sunday (Easter Sunday) and they teared down the the venue... so much fun... the show included a IKEA furniture passing through the audience ^^ (next to the normal crowd surfer)

This song it's too Great! Maybe, and I repeat "maybe" , we can't consider IT as a parody, but as a huge tribute to Sabaton made by Nanowar. Could be funny and interesting, also a hard work, to breakdown the entire song to discover every reference to the Sabaton's songs (I've noticed: Last Stand, Bismarck, Cliffs of Gallipoli, Shiroyama, and at least other 2 that i can't remember the exact titles).

It's an incredible epic comedy song, dude! As millions of italians, I lived that day as a nightmare. It was really fool to play a final match in hell (37 degrees as Joachim sings), especially for us, while brazilians were more used to those temperatures. I have an italian friend (a Sabaton fan) that is not VERY good at english at all. He realized it wasn't a real Sabaton Song when he heard the Italian commentator part (yes it is the original one from Bruno Pizzul) and was left in total shock. Tbf, excluding that and the lyrics this IS a Sabaton song.
I think the guitar solo is a mix of a couple of Sabaton solos, in my mind I expected the solo to go in another direction because I'm so used to hearing it, but then it didn't.

Joakim allegedly once wrote a track from their first album - Metal Machine, supposedly a song made entirely out of titles to other metal songs, as a dare - while taking a shit. Nanowar could make that a damn saga.

I was 12 at that time and this was the greatest period for my country's football team. We got 4th place but at the end I was very happy that Brazil won over Italy.
