Nanowar of Steel is the Monty Python of metal bands. They take their music, chords, jams, and riffs very seriously...... but that's where the serious STOPS!!! Jokes for days and jams for years. Simply fantastic stuff.

One quick note: FALEGNAME means "carpenter" in italian. They play with the words Falegn-amen 😂

It gets even better when you realise the hebrew bit is actually a parody of a prayer: "Sh'ma Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Eḥad" - "Hear, O Israel: the LORD is our God, the LORD is One."

In the tv in the background you can see the movie "Trading Places" (with Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy)...here in Italy it's considered a traditional xmas movie and it's aired every xmas eve on tv...fun fact the italian title is not a translation of the original...it's called "Una Poltrona Per Due" (an armchair for two) ...another pun/joke about furniture made by Nanowar in this video.

That song is bonkers. Its lyrical progression is hilarious, what starts as an ode to Odin quickly devolves, or evolves, into an ad for IKEA. That's easily one of my favorite christmas songs.

As many reactions as I have watched for this masterpiece, NO ONE has commented on the 'knisa gray is better than Sasha Grey' line.

Im Swedish and this song nails all the facts 😂 the one line with the meatballs was a big scandal when it came out. Marketed as regular meatballs with meat from cow and pig, someone found traces of horsemeat in them. Don't know why it was such a big deal since horsemeat still taste good 😉 and i always watch the reactors face on the Sasha Grey line too 😏 Norwegian Reggaeton is equally funny 😂 otherwise Baroness - Chlorine and Wine 😁

Tommy "ReinXeed" Johansson is a Swedish vocalist and guitarist known for his work as a guitarist for Swedish metal band Sabaton and as lead vocalist and guitarist of the band Majestica (formerly ReinXeed), a power metal band from Boden, Sweden. They have a metal christmas album out now. Ghost of christmas past, and ghost of marley are awsome. Tommy, his voice is gonna surprice you.

Saw them in Italy, one of the most skilled and funniest bands ever! The made a lot of italian songs (they are italians), parodies of several things for our country and in general other things, such as 400 Calci (parody of fighting movies), Bestie di Seitan (parody for vegans), Giorgio Mastrota (parody of one (in)famous italian tv seller for sofas and couches), Il Cacciatore della Notte (parody of a species of howl), and Feudalesimo e Liberta' (parody of a parodistic political party addressing a return of feudalistic society). English-wise, their last album is entirely in English, some of the best are The Call of Cthulhu and my favorite Vegan Velociraptor. PS: in the song, they say Falegn-Amen. Perhaps for non-italian speakers this sound senseless. "Falegname" is carpenter, and it refers, obliviously to both IKEA and Saint Joseph, putative father of Jesus. Amen is... well, amen. Hence, the separation of falegn-amen XD PS2: at the end, you can see in the television the movie Trading Places. This is because, for unknown reasons, it has been hired in Italian TV at every single Christams since, becoming one of the most "christmasty" movie in Italy ever.

FYI: the "falegn-amen" line, towards the end, plays with the words falegname and amen. Falegname means carpenter, and from here it's a simple connection to christianity :)

Valhalleluja was released on the 'Stairway to Valhalla' LP album, because it contains an extra Bonus-CD, which features 'Valhalleluja' as a bonus-track !

IKEA should pay those guys for performing this song. It is the best ad IKEA could hope for.

I just love the Shema Yggdrasil part. Excellent example of the smaller, more obscure and oddball references NanowaR of Steel like to put into their songs.

My only problem with the lyrics is that they missed a joke. Odin should not sing "I'm a Gentlegod", but instead "I'm a Djentlegod". Just for that one EXTRA joke. It bums me out all the time that its not the official lyrics, but oh well.

And very good point on the evolution of the song from "violent Ancient Testament" to "eeeh, let's try to portray our religion as a more tolerant and modern one New Testament". Never crossed my mind. There's a Finnish (mostly, there are some great guest singers) Christmas song project called Raskasta Joulua/ Ragnarok Juletide, filled with great talent, that tours Finland Christmas time(This year they are doing a streamed concert) and usually they do a TV performance that's shown in Christmas Eve. Marko Hietala , J.P. Leppäluoto, Tony Kakko, Jarkko Ahola, Elize Ryd and Floor Jansen are few names that might sound familiar to you.

This is a silly thought, but I just learned that Mohammed Abdul actually lives not very far from my place near Milano (with "not very far" I actually mean one or two towns over).
