The road where you would not see someone for hours and get excited when you saw someone. I miss that, not the heat but the driving. I drove 15 hours and saw about 5 people.
@@gm16v149 I knew it was 16 year old before I watched it but I like your truck and channel plus the music the old girl makes so a like and a comment is the least I can do and she did get a free wash in proper ozi rain water
One of the most amazing videos I saw was of a guy backing a roadtrain into a spot. I don't mean a straight line back up. He started out perpendicular to the spot, backed the truck in the spot, and not once did he pull up to straighten up. That was impressive to say the least.
I wished Kenworth still made the cabover aerodyne here in the U. S. I really miss seeing those trucks. I really admire you Aussie truckers and I enjoy watching these videos. Keep them coming. This trucker in the U.S. wishes all you drivers well.
Thanx for that. Usually we use cabovers for B-Doubles, & conventionals for singles & roadtrains. Cabovers are easy to work on but most guys prefer conventionals to drive. My cabover is way too long for a B-Double, they're on the ball with length laws over here.
Great video.. I love to see new countries and new places..Thats why I worked as a truck driver.. Australia is one of my FAV Countries.. I hope to get there some day.. Have safe trucking..
Once you're used to it the only time you use the clutch is starting off and if you have to go down through the gears quickly. Then you've got to double de-clutch. The Spicers are harder to get used to than a Roadranger. Maybe one day I'll do a vid 'How to use a Spicer box'
It's going that way over here, too. But a lot of people won't spec them because it is more things to go wrong...........reliability is everything over here when it you are so far from help.
Gday mate , did you say your box was a 16 sp spicer, i have driven 14's myself with 2 splits on the first 3 gears on the stick and 4 splits on the last 2 , how is the pattern for the 16 cheers
That truck of yours has both power & style; and bags of it. Awesome classic workhorse, with a great engine. How do you like that Spicer gearbox? Do you double clutch on 'normal' shifts (not split/range I mean)? Thanks
In the UK the margins are so small and the Diesel so expensive that most big trucks are now automatic (even in the big fleets, who dont go for anything fancy) simply because the onboard computer can run the engine and transmission a lot more efficiently than even the best driver. With Diesel at around £5-00 a gallon that matters!
Hi, I am starting my trucking career here in America, only on short hauls though because a CDL at 18 does not permit you to drive out of your home state, I work for a construction company, have hauled gravel in belly dump trailers and oversized loads such as excavators. dozers, etc How is the pay in the outback for trucking? I would like to drive there. I enjoy hauling heavy loads and long loads. And what must you get your CDL up to for pulling so many trailers? Thanks in advance and good video!
I would love to come to your country and experience what you Aussie truckers have to deal with, not talking about driving just riding as if on a tour. That would be nice if a company could/ would do that. Instead of chartering a boat, take a truck ride across the country and back.
Well I think you are referring to the countries that are part of the British Commonwealth, such as Australia and Canada who symbolically still hold the Queen as their ultimate head of state, altough they make their own decisions. In past times other countries such as India have also been ruled by Britain.
