What angers me most about Soundwave’s design is the fact that the Mercedes SLS 2011 that Soundwave transforms into also came in a blue color, closer to Soundwave’s color and in my opinion, a prettier color. This would also help distinguish Soundwave from the other Decepticons, as he is a fan favorite.
Yeah, facial hair on Transformers is definitely weird, but I absolutely love the fact that everyone blames these films for it when G1 had it on one of their most prominent characters (Alpha Trion). Love the content as per usual. Keep up the good work
I dislike human specific features being on alien robots as it just doesn't make sense. But i can understand why as every continuity needs to look appealing
However having facial hair, or just hair in general is retarded. Goes for all continuities. No wonder Galvatron always sacrifices his sweeps, their style sucks
@@0pt1tr0nD27 it's not that. Most of the facial hair we always see is metal anyways. It's just that why? Why do alien robots light years away from earth happen to look like the main inhabitants of earth??
But then everyone would complain that Alpha Trion was out of character and completely unlike his original incarnation. Ya can't win with the Bayverse, folks.
Yeah he was clearly designed to look like him, but they went with the wrong name. Presumably because they realized that they were too accurate to Trion, so they couldn't have that. The characters can not look like they are supposed to.
It’s funny because Dino was actually called Mirage in the game Also I think for bayverse live action laserbeak’s design was decent for the interpretation. Not great, but at least it wasn’t not wheeljack
We don't talk about Que, who is not at all Wheeljack. And yeah I wish they didn't call Dino that in the game, it would have rubbed his stink off on Mirage less. As for Laserbeak, it could have been fine, if the movies EVER made anything consistent. Decepticons never looked like they belonged on Earth before him.
It really is weird that they spent so long modeling characters only to hide them in the background. Almost as weird as the fact that Barricade survived the whole series, simply because they kept forgetting to kill him off.
That and the action figures they made for him, not for if he appeared in rotf, I mean they literally made a human alliance action figure for his appearance in cyber missions, also originally he was supposed to be Sideways in rotf according to some comic writers on the tie into the film.
@@PerspectiveEnd They focus on human characters who literally don’t grow to any different than transformers who you don’t know how they became this specific rank, man to think we were going to get 14 more of these films a millennia ago like it’s DCEU.
"You cannot disprove a joke." Love that line. Always assumed Dino was a half-attempt at a Sideswipe, but that might just be my brain still equating color patterns with persona, as losing color is usually the surest sign that a given cybertronian is dead, not mostly dead, not partially dead, but full on dead. Nothing about Dino would ever have made me guess Mirage. That would be like someone giving me a barbarian played my Dwayne Johnson and saying , "Inspired by Madame Curie". I think I'd have to fight an aneurism in synaptic protest. But yes, that Einstein cryptid people say was an attempt at Wheeljack is cursed so bad it will never get a seat on the council of infinite Wheeljacks in my brain, at least.
Talking about the Dreads, I kinda like the idea of the Dreads themselves, I see them as maybe as experiments by a Decepticon scientist who experimented on some protoforms and made them look like monsters. But I think them looking like monsters plays into the complaint about the Decepticons just being monsters which means that the Decepticons are apparently a different species from the Autobots which makes no sense. I kinda like the red color as well as the blades on Mirage's design, something about it just makes it look cool for me. I however don't like Shockwave's design, I just don't like the rib cage. Also, talking about Que, the idea of making him look like Albert Einstein came from Steven Speilberg. I honestly hate the fact that Que is supposed to be Wheeljack which is why I loved it when they killed him off, though his death was kind of sad.
Yeah the dreads don't stand out as being different enough to be special. Like all the cons are some kind of unholy freaks. And yes, we do not refer to Que by that name because he was not called that. They had the mercy on us to make that Abomination a separate entity.
I really like the dotm wreckers mainly because i love NASCAR which btw the wreckers are modeled after nascar fan stereotypes like roadbuster has a baseball cap, topspin has a mullet, leadfoot has A beer gut and the all have like sunglasses and Dino's blades can like rotate and spin
That's Supposed to be a Fucking Baseball cap! And yes I could tell that they were supposed to be stereotypes and unflattering ones at that. Man Bay just can't make a movie without insulting a section of the population.
I actually kinda like Leadfoot’s design, mostly because of his stocky build and red deco. But I do agree the Target brand crotch armor(tm) is a stupid decision, especially since he can only ever be a Target exclusive figure thanks to this, and these figures become WAY more expensive on the aftermarket than they would be had the Target logo not been there. Thanks, Michael Bay! Also I’m kinda excited to see how you’re gonna roast Transformers Prime eventually. It is one of my favorite shows of all time, but I still think the designs are open to PerspectiveEnd treatment.
I also think he would have benifited from a less dumpy build, like let him be dumpy but that gut only would get in the way and he should have no reason to suffer that as a robot. I will get to prime eventually.
Something that confuses me is that in DoTM they gave Optimus a sixpack. They went to the effort to change his design, to give him a robot sixpack, this was thousands of dollars spent to slightly change the design. Anyway I would like to see a review of Siege Prowl/Bluestreak/Silverstreak.
I don't know that I'd call that a 6 pack but it is Reminiscent of one, and that's because "Look at Optimus's Sick Gains BRO!" It's because the film makers were douchebags. Plain and simple.
This video made me realise something very strange, Michael bay refuses to have characters with no mouth. Every character in g1 who had no mouth had a mouth in bayverse. Optimus, soundwave, shockwave, grimlock, and literally every construction has a mouth in bayverse.
@@PerspectiveEnd Not to mention it would save a bit on the design and animating budget. Don’t have to animate lips moving when a faceplate is over them.
9:16 Huh, so that’s why most of the other continuity designs look like their wearing helmets. (Which brings up the question on what were they thinking when they gave Windblade a hairstyle)
She doesn't quite have a hairstyle, just a head that looks like hair. There are no separate strands or anything. And I don't think there's supposed to be hair under anyone's helmet.
My favorite scene of this movie is when the Autobots faked their deaths and didn’t do their counterattack until the Decepticons decimated most of Chicago.
What's shocking to me is that they got Lenoard Nemoy to agree to another transformers movie and DIDN'T use him for Galvatron... To be fair... Sentinel's defining character trait for the longest time was having an inconsistent character design, being a random blue and yellow unnamed character credited as "U-haul robot" in the G1 cartoon who used a flail and shield, an orange robot in the g1 comics, and an orange Robot who was dubiously moral in the IDW comics... Ironically, He's the default replacement bot when writers wanted to use a more beloved character as an antagonist but get shot down by Hasbro execs. Sentinel Prime in Animated was originally going to be Rodimus, and in DotM was going to be Ultra Magnus....
Yeah that is dumb. Pretty sure they only stated Calling him Sentinel AFTER the Animated version. I can see why they made both those decisions, though they would be interesting ones.
I remember as a kid thinking that DOTM was the coolest movie ever! Then I rewatched it about a week ago and while I still enjoy it, it was so much worse than I remembered. And despite their many many flaws, I feel like the Shia Le Bouffe movies at least have some little reason to exist, but I really wish Michael Bay had stopped there because I think the Mark Walberg ones are trash. So, can't wait for an Age of extinction and Last Knight roast! Great video and I 100% agree with your opinion on the Wheeljack/ Que design. That guy freaked me out as a kid. Come to think of it, there was a ton of stuff in this movie that freaked me out as a kid: Ironhide's death, Que's face and death, Shockwave's worm, Sentinel's death, humans getting disintegrated, etc.
Yeah these movies weren't for kids, and I'm glad you still enjoy it, but I'm also glad that you can see the flaws more clearly now as you now see why I'm not crazy for how I feel about this stuff.
I cannot recall a single thing about this movie other than the part where Optimus kills Sentinel and Megatron. I'm patiently waiting for the day when you review TF Prime :D
Wanna know what the worst part of Dino is? In the DS game for Dark of the Moon, you fight him multiple times. But in every fight, despite having Dino's design, the game still tells you to quote "Defeat Mirage". Even the game's developers refused to address them as such due to how stupid of a change it was.
Yeah, Sentinel Prime looks so evil infact I don't even know how he is affiliated with the Autobot. Crankcase is definitely robo Predator. I don't even know how they got away with it. Yeah, you didn't even talk about Que teeth, look at it! Anyway, Bayformers still have a special place in my heart and a little bit of roast wouldn't harm. Great video.
you might realize PerspectiveEnd half of fan base wants the bayverse to comeback because rise of the beasts reviews was like finding something that passed in your bathtub
It's ok to laugh at the things you like, and funny you are the second person in a row to say Sentinel is your favorite. What makes you like them so much?
@@PerspectiveEnd It was kinda funny to watch lol. And I think it's because he was one of my first transformers toys when I was younger and also cause the idea of him being good then turning bad I really liked for some reason. Also cause he is voiced by Leonard Nimoy who also voiced Galvatron in the 1986 Transformers movie and is just awesome!
Perspective End, I want to personally thank you......for making me laugh so hard at 4:07 about Leadfoot, that my boss and coworkers at work started laughing at my losing my crap over something that shouldn't even be funny to me to begin with. Granted, my boss told me that she needed something to make her laugh, but as the saying goes "There's a time and place for everything", and laughing my behind off at work doesn't exactly feel like a good time and place. Seriously, I laughed so hard that I ended up sweating after the whole ordeal.
Prime's trailer in this movie is probably the best incarnation of the G1 style Optimus Trailer. I mean it can become both a Weapon Rack and a big fuck off winged Jetpack.
While I warmed myself to agree with some of your points of the designs of the bayverse from this vid and last vids about bayverse(while i liked those designs, I could see people not liking it due to it looking too alien). Tbh I dont think Sentinel Prime disrespects the TFA Sentinel as a character(not by design) since DOTM sentinel is way interesting as a character.
What's funny is that's not even quite who they were disrespecting, since this was clearly designed to be Alpha Trion, but they changed the name Sentinel Prime I guess just because they were not willing to ever have a character with the correct appearance.
Ngl, this is my favourite film and DOTM Sentinel Prime is up there with TFA Blackarachnia for my favourite TF character, but this did make me incredibly happy. Your content always makes me smile
@@PerspectiveEnd to be honest mate, I think most of it the nostalgia attached to him as I had his voyager in 2011 and he was my Ultra Magnus for a while if you will. But other than that, I love how he was portrayed as being Optimus' mentor for years, but having a plan with Megatron, knowing that would lead to his team losing just for his planet and race to survive. Plus, he made Megatron a sort of hero as he wasn't really in charge of the operation and it was just Sentinel, so Megatron had a chance to be hero like by wounding Sentinel. No one else has made Megatron save Prime and it gave Megatron a humane feel with an actual character, if the movie bots were characters. So, for that, I love Sentinel Prime so much
It's amazing how Soundwave redused from a satellite to Mercedes. Also: this model of Mercedes could be blue. Just saying. *Scourge laughing at every robo having hair in this movie far away*
@@ilikepigeons6101 Dramatic irony. We the audience would be able to piece together that Soundwave was the Mercedes if he was blue. But if anyone looked closely at his chest when he appeared in Africa, we would still know Soundwave was the Mercedes.
@@ilikepigeons6101 You could still make out the car parts-specifically the front-which doesn’t change much. In the movie, we know Soundwave is silver, so he has to be a silver car. The only silver car we see with a similar front to Soundwave’s chest is the Mercedes. Hiding out the logo isn’t as clever of a tactic when you know what the rest of the car parts look like, and what car those parts belong to.
In ROTF I noticed the movies started adding more characters in red for each following movie for ex: Overload, Scavenger, Devastator, Dino, Sentinel Prime, Leadfoot, Stinger, the KSI Trax robot, and one of the knights was red in TLK.
@@PerspectiveEnd I mean the characters I listed are all colored red. I forgot to mention Rampage (not Skipjack, that name is retarded), I can't be the only one to notice it brought about some sort of gimmick.
K I’m gonna have to stop you on the Thanos Sword part 😂😂. It was Sentinel who had the sword first. I laughed so hard at your comments of the Wreckers. “Is my branding Okay!?” Dinos blades can spin around and be thrown. He points them back so they don’t point out. I absolutely love Shockwave in this film. I think it would have been awesome if Jazz, Optimus, and Shockwave were the basis on how they should have done them. But I still do love all the designs we did get. I’m laughing so hard over your Que comments too 😂😂😭😭😭 PS: To date this is still my favourite movie of all time and I will defend it till I die lol
To ready my self for this video, I watched Every Scene he has in the movie, (There are youtube channels dedicated to doing that) and that was not an ability he displayed. He could throw them out on chains though. And remember... Jokes.
@@PerspectiveEnd my bad if I sounded a bit rude when that came out but I'm pretty sure he does in the shot showing all the bots fighting during the Chicago's battle. Specifically when he's impaling one of the protoforms.
Biggest issue I have with Q is, like with Mirage/Dino, Q is supposed to be Wheeljack. How is that Wheeljack?! And strange thing, Sentinal Prime reminds me more of Alpha Trion than anything else. Think about it. Red is part of his colour scheme, he had facial hair in G1, something resembling a cape and he was Optimus' mentor. Animated was the only incidence I can think of where Optimus and Sentinal knew each other. It's like they took one characters name, another appearance and gave him a personality unlike either of them. It just sucks
Que is not Wheeljack, they had the mercy to not say that in the movie, so we can take the mercy, the Stink of Que has not Clung to Wheeljack like Dino did to Mirage, so lets take the mercy and pretend Que never happened. And yes, I find it hilarious that they designed Alpha Trion but then realized it looked too much like him, and since they couldn't have a character that looked like who they were supposed to they changed his name to someone else.
1 A feature he never used in the movie except for a blink and you'll miss it scene to intimidate some humans, and 2 only used that feature 1 time in the movie and it really didn't hurt his opponent.
I actually quite like movie Shockwave’s design. Too bad he, like all the other cybertronian characters, doesn’t get any character development. I’ve seen this movie many times, and I never even new Dino and Crankcase were in the movie until their studio series figures came out.
Yeah I watched a video that cut together every shot of Dino, he had 1 line in the movie, and he was visible for 2 minutes and 40 seconds, and almost all of that was just him standing in the background.
@@PerspectiveEnd am I the only one who can understand the complexity of this ambitious cinematic masterpiece? this movie isn't stupid, you're stupid pd: ss core class shockwave is a micro masterpiece for🎶 me🎶
My versions of soundwave technically has a face, it was heavily damaged, he didn’t think he was worthy of getting it fixed (makes sense in story context) but he still doesn’t want anyone else to see it, though not just for self esteem, it’s to make him more intimidating
I think lazerbeak looks good, but I agree we need stricter rules for what a transformer can scan and when they can scan it. In animated they needed there ship to remformat them which made sense to me
I personally feel that Michael bay didn't fuck up on Shockwaves design that much but instead put all his power into making the abomination Named DOC and the fact he was supposed to Wheeljack still fucking surprises me.
crankcase appeared in the tf1 toyline looking like cybertron red alert's original body but with g1 crankcase colors, when annouced sentinel prime and shockwave were gonna appear in dotm people thought shockwave was gonna be dotm's main villain, when we saw the ark people thought omega supreme because animated omega supreme turned into the ark, omega supreme was gonna appear in tf4 as the ark when we saw the ark in tlk get removed from the moon it turned out ark was not omega supreme
For the question of the video I think a review for Siege Flywheels would be enjoyable. On another note I despise Wheeljack's teeth that look like piano keys it just rubs me the wrong way.
When you list the characters in this movie, especially revenge of the fallen, I just think. Yeah these characters didn’t need to be in the same movie, especially since the humans are hogging the screentime they could be using to make it work
As the thing that got me into Transformers, a big part of me finds it hard no to let this slide/take it on a personal level (and it includes the other films).
@harrishyatt6283, in my version of Dark of the Moon directed by Christopher Nolan, Ironhide lives and Skids and Mudflap appear in my version in both robot and vehicle mode and are the only autobots killed by Sentinel in my version of DOTM. Karl Urban is casted for the voice of Ironhide in my version of DOTM.
I know we're struggling through the 2020's and all the special people who make it so wonderful, but if they have trouble with you roasting these movies no amount of explaining will reach them.
@@PerspectiveEnd just look at him he just needs a new head and remove the colar bones on his shoulders and here is RED BUMBLEBEE ( cliffjumper) because micheal bay would do that to cliffjumper just look at bumblebee
I mean it's the same Megatron as before with a facial injury, I don't see the comedy potential in that just like with Igor. You can't really poke fun at something that's intended to be broken already.
I just recieved a MP Sideswipe from ebay. Bought it for about $50 Aud which is about the price of a voyager class figure. Was pretty sure this was a KO as it was so cheap, but the seller was saying it was authentic. Anyways I would have been fine with a KO figure anyway so I bought the thing. Turns out that the seller wasn't lying about this being authentic. Every tell of an authentic is there. Black outline around the headlights, An Autobot logo on sideswipe on the side box (that is missing on KO releases), Tall head crest and the correct spelling for Countach and Lamborghini. I actually got an authentic MP for $50 aud!
I personally love dino/ mirage. In the movie for the few seconds we saw him he had so much swag. Personally I also like the design too(but I also think the collar bone thing look a little strange) also a little fyi, Dino's blades do spin around in the film so he could actually stab people, but it's in one seen for one second so I don't blame you for not seeing that. All in all I love dino and this video. I too believe robots with beard are strange but alpha trion gets a pass from me due it it being an iconic part of his design.
It’s strange, in the transformers multiverse, there are infinite possibilities But the one thing that remains consistent, is that sentinel prime is a corrupt jerk
These movies never fail to find new ways to disrespect any and all source material while also not making any improvements on it. In all honesty, Dino has some strange and unrealistic design choices but I think manages to actually look like a transformer. When you look where certain car parts end up the illusion can break a bit but he probably has one of the best designs in this movie, which isn’t saying much. I don’t care about him and most of the characters that show up but he feels like an alright original character(not really original but sort of) for the movie. I’m glad that we got some good designs in the bumblebee movie which will hopefully stick around in RoTB
I will give him the credit at least that he stood out from the background, but he looked incredibly generic outside of that. Like he could have been a background Bot or Con no one would bat an eye.
@@PerspectiveEnd I will agree on how generic he actually looks, I’m not a big fan of most of the Michael Bay designs and don’t care about Dino especially, but I do feel that he is one of the very few who didn’t look hideous. I’m glad that were done with those designs on the big screen at least for now and that the movies have now taken from the good parts of their roots and expanded on it even though there are still flaws here and there.
@@kingslayerx1716 I don’t know why you bothered replying to a comment I made 4 months ago about my thoughts on a character design but I’ll explain anyway. The Bay movie designs take designs that are almost always impossible to turn into an actual vehicle and make it just morph nonsensically into something else. I grew up watching these movies alongside g1, prime, and animated so I am used to changing designs for characters but if you analyze how characters like dotm Megatron transform or Aoe Optimus, it doesn’t work in a practical sense. Looking at Dino, he looks like he transforms but the car parts end up in places that just don’t make sense in the context of the vehicle he turns into. The bumblebee movie designs aren’t perfect in these aspects either as well as shows like prime sometimes, but everything seems throughout to a degree in which the way it transforms mostly makes sense. That was my main point, I know you didn’t really bring this up so I’m sorry for dragging this out longer but what I mean by it disrespecting the source material is that it takes characters and gives their names to characters they are not designed to be in both appearance and personality. There are characters I like from the movies but most of them have no relation to their original counterparts, almost always in a more negative manner. Like why does devastator look and function completely different from any prior counterpart and have OVERHAUL BALLS where a person’s balls would be be, especially when no constructicon has overhaul balls.
Dark of the moon is a beautiful movie it teaches me that Optimus prime is a merciless killer Not seen her sentinel get beheaded in stabbed is literally the funniest thing
I don’t get why my Original only problem with the designs is that they can’t smile despite having more realistic faces, and that there kibble was just any vehcile random shards of metal
You know I never realized just how much they reuse models for one off characters even if they shouldn’t be, like tell me soundwave isn’t a slightly different jazz
Perspective end you wanna know something? Dino survived aoe, he had more plot armor than ratchet and iron hide the main reason I believe why is because of his voice actors death. But why are his lower legs so skinny and small!? And his upper torso big and bulky
at this point, you already did a review on most of the goods toys from The siege that you have, but to say one you don't you could try impactor if you manage to find one
Honestly to me the video game and comic tie-in, make me interested in the movies because they at least cared, and have a buildup to it. Really if people do hate these films with an Omni Man passion they should honestly just read the comics or play the games, I found it interesting how the ROTF Games actually had more dept when it came to the story.
@@PerspectiveEnd Also you should do the movie toy exclusive only characters after the fifth film, like Stockade, Incinerator, Blazemaster, Skyhammer, and Rollbar.
First Comment :That movie has a special place in my heart I saw it in theaters with my Uncle in my birthday But I get it it's just a joke You can have your own opinion and that's fine 👍
0:38 my bro you don't even have to explain that. If people can't handle laughable stuff being laughed at, it's their fault. I'm a sucker for these weird ass designs too however even i would have loved wheeljack if his face wasn't Einstein
I absolutely do have to say it because a lot of people don't get it, and if I can just clear up the mindset it can help them enjoy it. And we do not call them Wheeljack. They had mercy on us not using that name, so let's take the mercy.
@@PerspectiveEnd you say they are jokes yet you literally sound super serious and actually criticize the design and even people who actually actually like the designs. like the fallen where you basically question why people like the design and want toys of him. Man that is totally a "joke" :/
Just remember that when Michael Bay made these movies, they were made with the same 2000s directorial style where it was simultaneously embarrassed by the source material that it just threw out the original designs and just did their own thing by making up their own designs because they were too embarrassed by the designs that had come before. I mean, that scene where Bee smashes his car door into that Volkswagen in the first movie was clearly a jab at the G1 design just like how comic book movies from the 2000s would make fun of the source material to make themselves seem cooler which I fucking hate. But now, with modern-day comic book movies embracing the comic book designs and giving their characters comic accurate suits, I hope Transformers follows the same footsteps and gives their characters accurate designs and are not ashamed of its source material.
8:49 “Ah, Que... Or some say, Wheeljack... Do you hear our prayers? No, we shall not abandon the dream. No one can catch us! No one can stop us now! Ooh! Majestic! An Autobot is a Autobot, even in a dream. But, alas, not too fast! The nightmare swirls and churns unending! As you once did for the Vacuous Grimlock... Grant us eyes, Grant us eyes! Plant eyes on our brains to cleanse our beastly idiocy! A grand lake of mud... Hidden now from sight. The cosmos, of course! Let us sit about, and speak, feverishly. Chatting into the wee hours of... new ideas of the higher plane.”
Douchebagimus Prime might have a robot beard to reference Mirror Spock because Leonard Nimoy. I find him to be one of the more tolerable Bayverse designs, not to say this roast isn’t hilarious
As weird as the facial hair in the live-action movies have looked, let’s face it, it’d look weird if we got a live-action Alpha Trion and Unicron without something denoting or similar in appearance to facial hair. For Alpha Trion more so, since his wizard beard and mustache are key-elements in his design. Maybe if the facial hair were liquid metal plates designed like facial hair-like you once suggested with their faces-so that the metal can flow and have the shaping of facial hair, but not so detailed that it looks off and uncanny.
Honestly, I don't think it's too out of character for Shockwave to own a gigantic horrifying creature as his pet to use for wreaking havoc upon the Autobots.
