Roasting AOE: Everyone is Awful 

I like Hound’s movie design but I do think he shouldn’t have been called Hound

I think we can all agree, that this film was nothing, but hours of Michael Bay torturing innocent toy designers.

I fell asleep while watching Age of Extinction, I tried watching it again and fell asleep as well. I fell asleep during a movie in which Optimus Prime rides a giant, robot dinosaur that breathes fire and bites other giant robots in half, twice. You did it Michael Bay, you somehow made giant, robot dinosaurs boring.

There was almost potential here. For good writing. Could’ve written optimus well here as a leader who is just fed up. Optimus has sacrificed so much for humanity including his own best friends and to have them betray him was the tipping point; saying he’ll tear them apart for killing ratchet, saying they’re leaving earth for good, and finally the best line “how many more of my kind have to pay for your mistakes”. Ughhhhhh it’s just so frustrating Michael bay and the rest of the producers are. First movie he stays stoic but gradually loses it and becomes more ruthless as we see with him brutally kill decepticons. Even with megatron there was potential, first movie he was a generic bad guy but by TLK megatron says all he wants is to go home and seems to regret losing his brotherhood with optimus because so many cybertronians are just gone. Heck by movie 3 megatron saved optimus and proposed a treaty.

This is BY FAR the best review of AOE. The only positive thing I can say about this movie is "at least it's not the last knight"

This was the first TF movie I chose not to see in theaters and I’m thankful for that decision. Bay had Optimus Prime charge into battle while riding on a fire breathing robot T-Rex, and somehow made it the most boring thing ever. That alone should be a crime against humanity.

Fun Facts about the Dinobots: They were rumored to appear in Revenge of The Fallen according to several interviews prior to the film's release, but Michael Bay refused to put them in the film because he hates them. In the film's behind-the-scenes, the designers wanted to go for a Barbarian look for the Dinobots. Grimlock and company are never called their names or talk, instead, they are just referred to by Optimus as Brave or Legendary warriors, until the next film. Also, a velociraptor named Slash was supposed to appear with multiples of him like he was Dupli-Kate from Invincible and obviously, Hound was supposed to ride him.

Something I really didn't like was them turning energon green in this movie, which is probably one of the worst colors to make energon. I feel like it would be better if they made it neon, but they chose a really matte shade that makes it look like they bleed health smoothies

I'll admit, if there's one character in that movie that I think deserves more attention, it's Stinger. I like how he's basically a Nemesis Prime version of Bumblebee.

Finally, I've been wanting you to roast the AOE designs. TBH, I never ever liked or even admired some of the AOE designs cause of them looking so much more human than robot.

Something that i think is interesting is how the main autobots are based in something from human culture Drift is based of a samurai Optimus is based of a knghit Hound is based on something from war world 2 Crosshairs is based on a mercenary And Bumblbee is based of a ninja This is a good idea but it has NOTHING to do with the plot this is just something that Bay felt like doing .

I despise the design for Optimus in this movie. Ignoring that he doesn’t look like Optimus, he doesn’t look like he transforms. The only kibble he has is some smokestacks in the back. It just disgusts me that they didn’t even pretend to care.

This one had the best villain in the entire series, Lockdown. And the cemetery wind killing autobots was a neat Dark idea. Ratchets death was heartbreaking and it's made worse when they melt his head. I loved all of that. But the movies too long and RUINS Galvatron. That should've been Nemises Prime. They even set him up as exactly that. And Stinger was cool I guess.

Yeah, Galvatron has to be the biggest let down, in terms of design, for me in this film. Galvatron has and is always supposed to be Megatron, but cooler looking. Except for the times when they are separate characters, but even then Galvatron still looks cooler. In here, he looks painfully basic. Even compared to the Megatron designs. Not to mention how they just decided to turn Galvatron back into Megatron by the next film. There were so many bad decisions made for those last two movies. But, onto something positive, have you seen Prime Vs Prime’s new video on the Legacy Velocitron Blurr? A.k.a IDW Blurr. I gotta say, that has to be the best look for the 86 Blurr mold. I hope Hasbro does more IDW designs for their mainline toys in the future. I know they kind of did that in Titans return, but they weren’t as good as how Blurr looks here. I would love to get the 86 Grimlock remolded as his IDW appearance. Same with Kingdom/Legacy Galvatron (cause then he would have a better looking head, even though those were more so horns on a helmet rather than looking like a crown).

I like bumblebee’s design at the start of A.O.E before he copied stinger’s look. The black being more prominent than the yellow looks cool to me

This is actually when Michael Bay gave up on the franchise, he wanted to make just the original trilogy, but then the studio just said "Come back here we need more money", and he made tlk and aoe just not giving any fucks

for every bayverse character, it feels like it would be painful to exist, every transformation looks like scrap metal grinding against itself. Like imagine your raw bones rubbing against each other as you walked, we have a word for that it's called arthritis. I don't know if this is the one with wheeljack (if that's him in at the begining) but I mean I'd take him being one of those street racer cars with the uderside lighting which then became his ears. But yeah no good designs allowed.

the reason for the existence of these designs was due to it being a response to the critique that the last 3 films designs look like unfaithful scrap put together, hence why everyone here are more streamline and slim with human faces in an attempt to look like the g1 but with a blend of the bay bullshit aesthetic, however whether that worked or not is debatable. I kinda like their attempt

Always bugged me the Dinobot's don't talk. Like, they had their own ship, they could fly it in space, but not talk? And Grimlock beaten by one punch from OP? Nope. It is fun how Optimus starts losing his mind even more.

Honestly, Galvatron should’ve been MotorMaster, not only does the vehicle look very similar to the original G1 cartoon, but it also would’ve been a cool way to interesting to introduce the stunt icons in the film, but then again Bay could’ve ruin them like everyone else.

Why couldn’t the designers make Galvatron a dark purple tank. I know that’s not what he transforms in the cartoon but it’s close enough. And considering that AoE KSI Galvatron was planned to be used by the military it would have made sense. But maybe it would be to much to ask for the guys who think d**k jokes are funny in a transformers...anything.

The scene I hated on this movie was Ratchet's death... why kill him? Hunting the bots which saved earth...? WHAT ARE HUMANS IN THIS MOVIE? STUPID?!!!

This movie had the most controversial and humanoid designs, specifically Drift.

Huh.... That was interesting. And as for the "Why they called him Hound". As far as I know, thank's to the fackt that the real militarny took part in making those film, they wanted a character who represented soldier vechicles (mostly because all the other military vechicles used in the movies unthill this point, were decepticons). But besides that, I'm still not sure why they picked Hound. The best I can guess is them wanting to use an Autobot with militarny themed altmode. And the Prime version Bulk been more favomus as an offroad track, rather than Animated Armoured transport. Or maybe just saving the Hound trade mark?

This is probably when the franchise started getting hated by everyone because the only people dumb enough to like the first three were little kids and they finally grew up around this time. So they’re capable of seeing these movies as bad but still blinded by nostalgia enough to think the first three were any different

The extinction of the designs for bayformers lol

The first time I watched this movie I never noticed how stupid some of the designs are, like Chrosshairs or Double-Shockwave. Some of the designs I do like a lot, like The Dinobots, or Hound. I like the IDEA of Hound, an old war veteran that's out of shape, but still has some fight left in him, but the excution of that idea kinda went down the drain. As for The Dinobots, I like most of their dinosaur and robot designs. Except Grimlock's robot mode. Everything is fine with it, the shoulder-pads made out of the dino head, the cool mace hand, but THE HEAD! JESUS! Why does he look like a monster-crab abomimation?! Like the rest of The Dinobots robot mode heads have kick-ass knight helmets, like Scorn, or Strafe, so why didn't they do the same with Grimlock? He already had a cool faceplate and visor in G1? Why not just work with that and just add onto it? I do have another problem with The Dinobots designs... Why are they silver? Like DARK silver, you can barely make any detail out. It's a shame they didn't go with the toy colours, like Scorn's red or Grimlock's orange. Now, I don't want them to be fully coloured, I want something like Strafe´s colour scheme, he just has HINTS of blue throughout his body, just enough not to look bland, but enough to look like actual metal (if that makes any sense). They could have put hints of red, or orange or purple on the designs to tie 'em all together, but that they still feel like individuals. Also it's a shame that Slash (velociraptor), Slog (brachiosaurus) or Snarl (stegosaurus) weren't in the movie, the designs were legitematly awsome, like how Slash, from a slender velociraptor turns into a squat, kinda chubby bot. The TLK premiere version of that figure (the one I have) has a cool metalic cyan-like sheen. Anyways to get back on track, some designs are fine, while some suck ass. The plot of AOE all in itself is.. fine, the characters just drag it down SOOO much, as well as some stupid "comedic" scenes (the romeo and juliet law scene). In conclusion, this movie is the worst in The Bayverse, The last knight is second place. My score would be 5.5/10 (I was being generous there. Sorry for going off-track, by A LOT there, just wanted to give my thoughts there! I actually got a question, would you like to see some easy fixes/mods for Kingdom Rhinox, Legacy Bulkhead and the Cyberverse Shockwave i talked about before? I asked this question many times, but since I got no reply, i deleted those comments since then. Of course, I understand you are a very busy person and that you have HUNDREDS of comments to attend to! I'm sorry if im bothering you with these questions, I just love sharing my mods/fixes i make for figures!

The only things I don't like about this movie is the other dinobots that weren't grimlock got NO screen time and Optimuses redesign I mean it's awesome but the original was better (movie version). And lockdown was cool and I never really got into animated so he's pretty cool

The one thing I can appreciate Michael bay for is bringing scorn into existence. I love spinosauruses and now a transformer one exists. Would’ve been nice if scorn actually got some writing so he could become a fan favorite and have some hope for new or 3rd party figures. Cang toys announced g1ish one for their eventual volcanicus and I’m sooooooooo excited for that.

You know the movies fucked the characters when they make for a good decepticon dynamic. I can see this movies autobots being the Stunticons I love how Bulk- I mean Hound and Lockdown are clearly downgrades from their original designs. Some how the bad ass action movies watered down the bad ass Bounty hunters design. Cyberverse Lockdown looks better than this guy, and he has the Worst Lockdown Characterization. My question with Crosshairs is how his coat works? Its metal! How does it become a coat that Moves like a Coat!? At the very least he could be making a Hell of a lot of noise every time he moves! I remember seeing this in theaters. The first Transformers film I had seen in theaters. I couldn't remember what happend after and I didn't see another one until Bumblebee which reignited my love for TF.

Tbh as much as like the Bayverse (yes I do) designs, however I wish they tried to make them a bit more respectful to the original design of the character but also being unique. As for AOE, yeah in the design dempartment they kinda give up making those designs, sure it may be cool but the character designs (Autobots) make its seem they don't transform due to them being too human, they just designed human-like robots, then put a bumper, door, or tire there, then done. Sure you may argue that all of the Bayverse are like this(especially the Decepticons), but at least in the first 3 films at least tried (with the Autobots at least) to make you know a tiny bit about their transformation, meaniwhile in AOE you can't tell how they transform. As for the "Decepticons", they're the most blandest thing in a movie franchise with busy designs, that's all I have to say with the cons. For Lockdown, while he kinda does look bland especially because he's just a dude with bits of car parts like the Autobots in AOE, I dunno Lockdown is just so intimidating with the dark gray and especially with the mask. As for the Dinobots, they're kinda cool, but they're just there to get people on seats because robot dinosaurs are cool I guess.

My biggest problem with the bayverse dinobots is that they're just dark silver when they could've done g1 colors or the colors the toys were like slag being purple and strafe being blue which sure would've been similar to a megazord but at least it would've been colors

This movie has some of my favorite designs in the bayverse. It also helped that the autobots in this movie got somewhere around 10 minutes each of screentime, compared to some others who barely got 5. The designs all feel distinct and every character looks unique. They don't look like they can transform, but I think that makes them better.

I actualy am making a transformer (sepficly a new incarnation of mistress of flame) who's alt mode is clothes, speficily armor that can enhance the abilitys of her fellow autobots.

Seriously, I don't get how people say this is worse than the others when it has the exact same problems as all the movies that came before it. The very first movie was the same dumpster fire. I skipped DOTM after seeing ROTF. I also skipped TLK.

At fist i had Conspirasy theory idea : in the movie we see clearly grimlock on antartica but then we see grimlock on lockdown ship on hongkong How there is 2 grimlock? But then remember lockdown did go to antartica when had a meeting with cemetery(or secretary, i dont remember) wind

Always found it quite weird how optimus got a completely different body type, repaired himself, by scanning a truck that didnt look too different from the truck he had from the previous fipms

Side note: as strange as the AOE Autobots' faces are in the movie, at least they're more pleasant to look at than the Bumblebee movie Autobots' faces. (I can agree that Arcee's face in that movie should have been a somewhat liquid metal face (more like some kind of stretchy metal [face], but you get the idea). I want those kinds of metal faces. I can admit that.)

lockdown appeared in transformers cyber missions looking like animated lockdown, i wonder how 2-heads would look as a transformers energon character, a transformers animated character, a transformers rid 2015 character, a transformers cyberverse character, and a transformers wfc netflix character

crosshairs appeared in the tf1 toyline looking like energon strongarm, he was gonna be released in the transformers 2010 toyline based off of rotf rollbar was got cancelled, and he appeared in the dotm toyline

As I've stated before, this movie is my family's favorite Transformers movie, even we laughed at some of the bits that are funny. I really don't get the hate for this movie, especially since there are things in there to like (Lockdown's face mask and gun-face, and Stinger being some of the things I like).

I actually like megs design in this film but this is a roast. And yeah the characters think anything evil looking resembles megatron

I think there are other transformers with clothing like kibble mainly on femme bots, like red alert in animated, and my shared oc snowfurz who has a skirt, but it’s because she uses cheetor’s body type and I forgot to put some fur on her torso so I needed to put it somewhere else

The only design that i like for bayverse design is the high octaine bumblebee. The others just like giving up being alien dan became something that they're escaping.

I actually have some nostalgia to this movie, it was my first TF film I ever watched, and when I was younger, it looked amazing And I do enjoy it, I know it’s not a masterpiece in film, but I do enjoy it, except that one part that we don’t talk about. That was bad. But this roast was amazing Edit: again, it’s very possible that I have some bias with this movie, and maybe re-watching it could change my mind

Sentinel Prime was supposed to be Alpha Trion? I didn’t know that and it makes so much sense, and really how can we be sure that that Hound and Sentinel Prime were meant to be bulkhead and Alpha Trion?

Unlike the first 3 movies, i feel probably no desire to rewatch this, but, i must say, I'm okay with the dinobots. Strafe has enchanted me since I've ever saw him and his toys, despite not being that great transformers, made me happy until now. I just hope we'll get Studio Series. Also, one channel came up with a theory why the Two Headed KSI robot is just shockwave - he was made during earlier stages of their Transformium research, so they worked a bit roughly with already existing parts.

I never saw this or Last Knight. I have Paramount+ and they're both on there along with Bumblebee so the only excuse I have is, for once the bad designs completely made me want to not watch a Bayformers movie. No one looks like they can actually transform, they're just generic robots with Prime and Bumblebee's faces, that's it. I couldn't tell you the plots of these two, nor do I care. All I know is Mark Wahlberg is there, and the villain is played by a dude who I swear I thought was David Cross at first, but turns out he's not and that disappoints me greatly because David Cross in a Transformers movie is something I want to see. Brains and Wheelie are probably my favorite Bay designs for how ugly they are and also because I find this Wheelie far more tolerable than the Dr. Seuss wannabe from the G1 days, but I know that's just a me thing. I feel bad for the cast and crew though, because no one wanted to make this besides the studio. Bay was wanting to make documentaries on elephant poaching from what I heard and I find that a pretty noble cause, unfortunately the powers that be said otherwise and so he made Quintessas face to punish us all, and I cannot wait for you to tear into that design because something about her design really pushes all the wrong buttons for me.

Talking about Galvatron, I really think that design is awful. It looks more crisp but I am surprised KSI actually kept on building Galvatron after many attempts to make an Optimus Prime clone out of the remains of Megatron. Also, they had the perfect opportunity to make Galvatron into Nemesis Prime, using the design of Optimus with the programming of Megatron. It fits the bill, Nemesis is a human made creation in some universes and it would be amazing to see KSI build Nemesis Prime. Lockdown is an okay design but his character is so dull, his lines are generic but they are cool sounding because the voice actor delivers them well. Though this is nothing against the voice actor, I really have a hard time understanding what Lockdown is supposed to be saying. Character wise, I do enjoy Hound's character, his boisterous personality I do enjoy. I also like Crosshairs the most but I never understood the jacket design of his character because I don't know what that even turns into. Also, Cade Yeager is a horrible person, and its not because his actor is a bad person, it's because Cade have him not paying his employees but borrows money from his employees and tells them that they are lucky they have a job. He makes his employees sign a contract that whatever they make, Yeager owns, which is horrible. He hasn't made anything that isn't a slight variation of what already exist, the slight variation is that his inventions doesn't work. I do like the KSI Sentries because I do like their designs and wish their designs was the designs of the Decepticon generics in the previous films because those generics were just giant grey blobs who can't transform into anything. Also, I really hate the Dinobot designs, nothing about them stand out and I've heard one person say that the Dinobot designs in the movies are somehow better then their G1 designs which I fail to grasp because how? I look at the G1 designs and I can make out who is who because they have identifiable features that makes them stand out except for the Bayverse Dinobots because they look like giant pieces of metal cobbled together. And talking about characters hating each other, all their interactions are just them roughhousing with each other, they don't have any identifiable personality traits, they just scuffle around.

Doesn’t resemble megatron Beast wars, robots in disguise, and armada would like to talk. I know the first two are technically not truely megatrons but still

I've always thought that AOE Galvatron's head looked like TFP Megatron's head. Am I crazy? Can't remember if anyone told you this: but Galvatron's vehicle mode got repurposed into Robotnik's truck in the first Sonic Movie. Really want a Sonic Movie Collab using Studio Series AOE Galvatron now.

I think Strafe was meant to be Swoop, because prior to POTP and after Animated, they lost the trademark to his name.

Watchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis? Bayformer "Galvatron" looks just like "Megatron!" He's a load of jagged grey scrap metal piled intoi a vaguely humanoid shape and hit a few times with a grinder to give it that lens flare creating shine!

Man, seeing Grimlock burning the 3 Autobots on the thumbnail makes me laugh since in my unpopular opinion about Age of Extinction is that the Dinobots were alot enjoyable than both the Autobots and the humans at the same time, even tho' I did enjoy Hound being voiced by my favorite Monsters Inc. actor John Goodman lol.

I love how they barely changed drifts design in the next movie Like seriously they just made him red. THATS IT Honestly whenever i see that drift i just think of the scene from meet the spy. "Watch he'll turn red any second now... aaaany second now. SEE RED! No wait thats just lazy desinging"

AoE and TLK had some of the worst designs in Transformers since they tried to make them look like humans and not like robots.

Their soundwave is now one of my favorite figures in my collections alongside Optus Pexus, SS ROTF Optimus, Lemon Tree Prime and siege Spinster. I kinda like the general idea of Optimum design in that movie, yet they messed it up. I mean at least slap a couple wheels on that thing of something, he's too much not a car.

Bayverse lockdown looks like a middle aged balding man, and I hate it so much, he should’ve had his battle mask up for most of the movie, it’s till not lockdown, but it at least looked cool and threatening

I did like the first galvatron vs Optimus fight the you have no soul that is why I have no fear was also cool but galvatron looks like one of the KSI bits just with an angrier face, if they put a face visor on him and slapped him in the background of something I wouldn’t tell if it was galvatron or not. Also the characters having more human like faces is off putting

You know those AI images that have been cropping up lately? Do you know, the ones where they try to mix a bunch of things and it always comes out blurry and wrong and barely recognizable as anything. That’s how my brain sees every single Bayformer in motion. And several in still images. Also, Galvatron was supposed to be an Homage to Armada Nemesis Prime. And they couldn’t even let me have THAT.

All I've taken away from this video is that Age of Extinction is the perfect film to watch during Pride month

A friend and I actually once agreed that this was the second best Bay movies. She rewatched and we decided never mind they’re all just as bad as each other with 07 slightly edging out the rest for being a little more in control of itself.

AOE kinda just took the Bayformers lore and threw it in the trash, followed by TLK. I personally liked the three first movies, but I completely agree with your thoughts on this movie. 2:00 actually, he *was* supposed to be Alpha Trion, but Hasbro decided they didn't like that, and he was changed to Sentinel.

I personally only like Drift's and crosshair's designs. Drift mainly because I was only playing the Samurai in For honor, for Crosshair's is because I was playing a another character that duel wields guns and wears a trenchcoat

My assumption as to why this and TLK are viewed as the worst ones is that, while the first three had amazing toylines to fall back on, these two didn't. The toys were boring and basic, feeling very dumbed down, with half the line being gimmick toys. And they didn't even do all the characters. Stinger, a "main villain" for AoE didn't even get an in scale toy

I just wanted to say that, even though I can’t really tell what the backing track is, my brain keeps interpreting it as let me smang it by turquoise jeep and if you don’t know what that is, you should listen to it just cause I don’t know man everybody needs that in their life.
