There’s some great amps coming out of my neighbor state of NC-Phil Bradbury and Steve Carr. Amp sounds fantastic, Phil and you’ve got the right guy endorsing you.
Listen to Vince Gill, Paul Franklin and some of those Nashville players (including bassists) and you hear those Little Walter amps at their best. Just fabulous, would love a B15 type LW here in London….
Man I'll tell you something really cool. Last week I was at the Amigo Guitar Show in Nashville and I was talking to a guy at his booth and we were just waxing romantic about old school Clapton. When I feel a bump behind me and I turn around and look WAY up as I'm a really short dude and it's none other than VINCE GILL! I said "HOLY CRAP!" and he laughed and goes "Yep. Holy crap." We chatted for maybe 10min or so and he even tried to get me to buy this 57 Strat he was passing on that was "only" $22,000! I told him I'm actually a Baptist preacher but would be a DIVORCED preacher if I came home with a $20,000 Strat and he said "that's why you hide it and NEVER tell your wife about these things!" LOL! He was a GREAT guy and you're right that his tone is amazing. I told him he's about the only man alive that can make me cry from just simply touching a Strat. LOL!
...well OF COURSE, it's bigger than you'd expect...there's a whole effects box in the line!!! "A little bit of delay" and then an octave pod. How about how the amp sounds on it's OWN?f
@@@> Robben, Mr Ford, I've heard others state that you always turn the volume pots on your guitar to wide open & then somehow you're able to play so beautifully. It's amazing how you dial up so many different sounds without touching your guitar's volume pot. Finally, my question is, sir. How do you set your tone knobs? Do you leave the tone pots open as well & just control everything from the amp?
Most impressive and I guess that 12 inch speaker really gives it a huge sound. Honestly, I could see that as a quick grab and go amp to a gig that could easily be micd’ and give you everything you need.
@@DannyDKNYC It has a 12" ToneSpeak Austin 1250. It has Volume, Tone, and a Bass Roll-Off that deals with very low tones but allows me to get more top end...
That's a great sounding little amp.. I'm guessing with the acoustics off that stone tile floor.., well it projects well.. you can really hear what ya got out of that amp clearly.. No need for, "blow ther hair off your head", volume when you have just good clear quality.. 🎶😌🎶❣️👍
Lovely sound coming out of that 8W amp (and Robben's fingers of course). I love my VG50. Gigged with it for about 8 years now and it's such a reliable amp. Sounds a lot like a blackface Deluxe Reverb but more articulate. I use the VG50 with a 12 inch 100W Jensen Blackbird in an old cab. Sounds amazing. Thanks Phil.
This amp sounds great. This amp would be great for playing the Harmonica. Robben Ford sounds Great on this amp. I like how the first pedal sounds he was first playing. I hope he uses that pedal on one of his new songs.
This is a new prototype class A that I designed to be used in small situations or for recording. It stays clean through about 75% of the volume then starts to break. It is killer with pedals as Robben demonstrated. It does sound great clean but is not terribly loud.
@@richardfoulds421 You are probably correct. I am not with Robben at this time and must coorespond via phone and email. I know he has a very nice board that was built for him just prior to the live album recording.
This is a totally new chassis. This chassis uses a single EL84. Basically it is half of the King Arthur... And I will be building it as a combo but it will be in a Brownface princeton type cabinet.
@@PhilBradbury How timely! I’ve been on the lookout for a low wattage EL84 head. Could be interesting, I’m just down the road in Wilmington…..Keep us posted!
If you think that would improve his sound, imagine the tonal possibilities if Robben were to cut his hair, grow a mustache, AND wear a sequined jumpsuit!
