While I don't think Europe ever had these types of crafts... believe it or not some ancient civilization did, lol! Just FAR older then Robin hood's story! It's really remarkable how many things we reinvented. Including many types of water crafts. China was actually nuts when it came to theirs. (Seriously I don't see anyone questioning them building the ARK considering they built one of the largest ships to exist in ancient times) I think this one was either Greek or Persian. It's not completely accurate but pretty darn close... err the gangway anyways. It's been a long while but I recall the one that had the ability to lower its front into a ramp was two stories plus the deck and was more a cargo sailing vessel then a manual row.

I was also extremely disappointed with it as well .I thought with the combination of Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe it would have alot darker and more violent on the same level as gladiator.

Still a good movie if you forget the history.

If it was not Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth than Austria and Roman Catholic church would have got their ass kicked by the Ottomans. Thanks to Polish and Lithuanian Commonwealth they got saved. But in the end it was Ottoman who never accepted Polish partition
