I noticed this video is getting suggested to more people lately. I have received quite a few negative comments, which is fine. I hope you can appreciate that I am willing to show what is going on on a modern dairy farm. These cows are actually very relaxed and content even though they are not frolicking on green pastures. Our climate and other factors makes that difficult. We do offer cows the option to go out to pasture during their dry period (2 month break from milking every year) but you would be surprised how much they choose to go inside the barn anyway. They like the shelter and the beds are comfortable. Thanks for your time!
Keep doing what you're doing. When you get this many eyes on something, there will always be people who have something to say. You could be Jesus posting a video and people would find something wrong with it!
I just randomly dropped in here because of the algorithm. Cows are food. It looks like they are well taken care of, you're trying to improve their health and quality of life which is great to see. People who are commenting negatively are just negative people. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I enjoyed the video - I love seeing inside of other peoples lives. Don't let the negative idiotic voices get to you - thats just the nature of the internet.
Wow. Didn't expect it to clean up that good. That will be such a plus for you guys and the cows. Can't wait to see how it does with the water. Thanks for the video.
I dont know about you guys but I personally would love to be milked multiple times a day and give birth multiple times without ever being able to raise my children. oh and then killed when I start becoming unprofitable. what a great life!
It's great to see a hard working person get some well deserved RU-vid money. I know there's minimal money in a small dairy farm these days. And he does it for the love of the farm life.
@@jamesbizs well every million views is around 60 grand. This one video has 350 thousand views. So every 3 videos in a month can be a decent amount of money. I sure he makes more on RU-vid then his part of the milk check. Plus in one of his early videos he said he was buying out his uncle's share in the farm so it be just him and his dad. Every small dairy farm around me went under could make it milking 150 cows.
Your methodical preparation and the steps to fine tune the robots shows a lot of discipline. I know you were happy when that first robot went under that gate. For cryin' out loud, I was happy for you to see your hard work (9 gates!) come out so good! I know you said there is still some fine tuning but this is a great project. I have enjoyed watching it unfold and the careful way you did it. (I didn't hear a single cuss word either!) Cheers 🥂
The difference that bot made on the floor was amazing. I can't see it making a huge difference in milk production but the cleanliness of the facility, hoof health, bed maintenance, seems like it will make the bots worth every penny.
I'm pretty sure depressed animals produce less... I would assume a cleaner, comfortable environment, would create a less-stressful environment. The farmer leaves, but that is their home.
@@GioChaosHD its not so much depressed as it is stressed. The more comfortable the animal the less stressed it is. So you were close just not quite right.
As a random guy from Southern California who’s watched your channel for a long time…it’s so awesome to see how y’all are progressing! You taught me so much about the dairy industry and have given me the knowledge to better appreciate it. Keep it up!!!
Don't let the negative comments get to you. I worked on a dairy ranch from age 14 to 18 back in the early '80s. People have no clue about the reality of most farming, ranching, processing, and production of most of the products that they happily consume. The ranch I was on was small, ran around 400 head and all rotated from several pastures to the holding area before milking and back out to the post milking area. Anyway you structure it, there is going to be a lot of manure and a lot of work to manage it. I would have been very happy to have a robot handle some of the work. Since the path is consistent, I wonder if a rail system would be more efficient.
Don't listen to the negative bro. 99.5% of the people don't know anything about dairy farming and all the hard work required. Love my Roomba and glad you can find uses for an industrial version. Less crap = cleaner environment and happier cows.
Its a pleasure to watch your video's. It's evident to me that you love what you do. Farmers have a tough go at it 7 days a week, but you take it all in stride, fix whats broken and don't complain. May God continue to Bless You and your Family.
In all of your videos, I'm constantly amazed at the inquisitiveness of your herd. I do believe that comes from the care you provide and the love you show them every day. Kudos to you and your family, young man...
I thought it was slow at first, but when you see how well it cleans I understand. Presumably the water will make the slurry easier to mix. Great content. I'll look forward to you and dad dialling it in 👍
Eric on the bump stops, could you extend the gates down for the stops instead of the build up of boards on the floor? That way there is no need to remove them when accessing the barn with a machine.
*"Losing your job to automation can be real ass, but the more roomba gets a pass"* there..fixed it for you. And don't forget, up to 15min can save you 15%
Eric...wow! That is a huge improvement on your farm. Very impressive. You're not just a pretty face, you a really smart farmer. You impress me in every video. Keep making those cows happy.
Its most likely possible to turn off, but useful while setting the thing up, if it signals end stop activating etc functions operating. First time seeing robots like this, interesting to know how industry develops, even though i'm not fan of factory farming and spending millions to farm equipment.
This is not a small thing .. it's a gamechanger ! No more manure spreading around period ! .. Looking forward to the tweaking vids of these little robots.
i have no idea how I ended up here, but man this is sick. major throwback to my childhood job. I love the job, but the work hours really take a toll on you after a while. Props to anyone doing this job, we need y’all.
Looks very impressive, Y'all are always looking out for an taking the best care an health of the Ladies ! It shows !!! Thank You for your videos ! GOD BLESS Y'ALL !!!
My grandparents on both sides were Dairy farmers and I've heard many stories of how much labor it was. This video would blow their minds. Much respect as I dislike cattle husbandry in general but its cool to see how modern dairy operations are ran.
woo hoo! so glad you got them going. The difference is amazing and it should really help. I know there will be issues to workout, but you are a clever guy.
Amazing difference in cleanliness. It will be interesting to see how often they need to run in a day to keep it clean. You might think about protecting the water line for freezing and your cows inquisitive play. Won't the inquisitive cows chew/pull on the exposed water line as a form of play?
Eric its so amazing how you can fine tune your operation and how much better your operation looks and how much money it saves in certain parts of your operation. It will help with the cows feet and the free stalls will be much clearer and everything will be much better than to have lots of manure around as the slats will be way better and less dirty and basically less hoof problems so you probably won't have to have the hoof trimmer out as much. It's amazing how much clearer the slats look after a couple times over.
I was skeptical about how well these would work, but they do an awesome job! Also much quieter than I expected, other than the beeping😁! Great video from 10th Gen as always!!
I feel like the beeping is for its own safety lol. Keeps a 2 ton animal from accidentally stepping on you. I'm probably wrong but that's what it seems like
Wouldn't it be much easier, and simpler to just mount two U-shaped pieces of steel vertically on either side of the door? That way you could slide the boards in and out easily, but the robots woulnd't be able to push it over, provided your boards fits neatly into the U.
I've been looking at other videos about dairy farms. Some of them milking 5000 cows a day. They don't have robots. Keep doing what your doing. It's inspiring to see your work ethic. It's great to see hard work paying off.
Wow, I'm super impressed by those robots. Pretty soon, You're highest paid worker will be an IT guy fixing all the robots. Automatic herders? Automatic utter cleaners and milkers? Possibilities are endless! I feel like you are able to make these improvements due to your RU-vid revenue and if that's the case, then major kudos to you. You'll be an excellent farm owner.
Theres a farm i seen that’s completely robotic . Even has a robotic zero grazer to go out , mow and collect the grass, bring it back in and feed it to the cattle who are milked on robotic milking machines
Every day we inch closer to a world where the elites don't need us anymore and they will happily manufacture an apocalypse to get rid of us while robots maintain their every need
Love how the cows check out what you are doing. Hoping that the robots do a great job and make it a little easier for you do your work. Star screws are the cat's meow. So much easier. Seems once the floor gets cleaner the robot will keep them nice and clean. Great video, thanks.
Always a few glitches getting things going but once you do, you’ll be really happy with it I’m sure ! Looks great already. Anxious to see it with the water running. Congrats !
Your cows seem happy, thanks for taking care of them kindly! Obviously they will make a mess, but you guys show a lot of care and clearly work very hard to maintain the farm. Out of curiosity though, is the robot just scraping the filth into the slots, or is it sort of "vacuuming" it into a chamber then dumping it somewhere? Also, it would be really cool if you guys filmed and shared when a 100% clean out/sanitation happens. I imagine its a once in a while kind of clean out, but that would be so satisfying to watch.
Great video! The robots are impressive machines and appear to do a great job on the floor. Great to have an expert resource person nearby if you need any assistance. Awesome to improve herd environment/health and improve your productivity/lifestyle. Win/Win! More time to spend with your beautiful babies. Great investment. Enjoyed the video. Well done Eric!
So cool! Grew up on a small family farm. If only we had cool tech like this back then. I might not have been in such a hurry to get out of there. hehe Respect for you guys that feed the world!
This video came at the perfect time. We have one being installed next week in our heifer shed and possibly more in other sheds. A few minor changes to the shed to make but looking forward to it.
Throughly enjoyed your farm tours of the various automated systems. Have watched your growth and improvements. 10th Generation is setting a high bar for the 11th Gen.
Don’t focus on the negative comments young man. As a loan officer for USDA it brings joy to see young farmers continue the hard work of the older generations. Also this video did just pop up but glad it did.
I really liked your video. Thanks for the upload. Thanks for helping feed my family. Yes the T25 Torx bit is where it's at. One of my absolute favorites is the t27 sex bit or safety bit ... typically you'll see that Fastener on bathroom partitions. Much love, keep being you my man.
WOW! Technology is everywhere! One less thing for you to worry about and the benefit to your time and the cows well being. Congrats and thanks for sharing.
Don't live on a farm, but grew up working on them. Always cool to see how farmers are incorporating new technology into their operations. First impression is that those will be a great investment for you guys. Thanks for sharing.
