Thats not how a minimum wage works. If the minimum wage is increased it will lead to more unemployment as employers will have to spend more on staffing the same people or will lead to prices rising of everything so businesses will be able to support themselves with the higher salaries of workers. The problem is the federal reserve and the fiat money system, not the minimum wage being too low.
@atenakehnaton3965
@atenakehnaton3965 7 лет назад
Prices are not determined by the cost of an item to manufacture it, they're determined by the buying market. If you can sell a pencil that costs 10cents to make for thousands of dollars you will sell it for thousands. The costs of the item determines what is the minimum amount needed to be made before turning a profit. It's simple, greed is good. It's not that many of these companies cannot afford to pay their employees more, they simply choose not too. You think they pay people in third world countries little to nothing because they cannot afford to pay them more? It's real simple, they will make as much money as they can and part of making MORE profits is paying less in production. They're not going to hire more people than they need regardless of how low wages are, and how much they pay people has no basis in how many people they need. It really boils down to, which is cheaper, a person or a machine, regardless of the wage price if the machine is cheaper, they will use a machine. If they have to have a person and cannot use a machine, what's the cheapest and most effective pay rate to utilize. All you have to do is look at the profits, and look hard because there are a lot of "business" expenses that are really personal services provided to important people in a company written off as business expenses for tax purposes. For example at UPS many of the higher ups have access to personal jets they can use as they see fit, this is part of their benefits as employees and goes down as a company expense, again something that is for personal use. Anyhow the point is, when you break it down, most of these companies can afford to pay a lot more they don't want to and what is the point of having jobs that don't pay enough to survive from? These companies are not providing a public service, they're there to make money for the higher ups, not help their employees make a living. It's not personal, it's business. What we need is for these monopolies to die and for small businesses to take root.

I am absolutely fine with robots "replacing humans" making pizzas. The amount of workers required to build and maintain a robot is way higher than the one person making pizza, and those a are better paid jobs because 10 workers maintaining 100 robots that produce 1,000 pizzas a day each = 10,000 pizzas per person vs. more like 400 pizzas per person they'd be making if they actually made pizzas. The result is greater productivity, which lowers prices and increases buying power. If this wasn't already happening for the last 200 years of industrialization no one could afford cars, and we definitely couldn't make them ourselves.

So many people saying this is due to people demanding a higher minimum wage but ignore the fact that in 5 years time, their jobs are going to be on the line to. This is how technology works, and with how fast it's advancing, most jobs are not going to need human workers as the tech becomes cheaper, more reliable, and better. What this also means is, because of how technology has advanced, there won't be jobs to replace the ones we lose, since all those jobs can be done by automation, and any job that could possibly need humans will only be able to host about 15-20% of the entire human population.

Ok well let's look at this logically let's say there is a million in robotics here and let's say these robotics are replacing $15 an hour workers the math on this is 1,000,000 decided by 15 to show how many human hours this cost is equivalent to which is approximately 66,667 hours and let's say the restaurant operates 12 hours a day it would take about 16 years for these robots to just pay for themselves And at the current minimum wage about 25 years so in my opinion until robots become cheaper there is no worry about them taking over any job that pays less than $30 an hour and is more of a novelty than a sound business idea over cheap labor and why China continues to thrive on said cheap labor over the us who continues to innovate using VERY expensive machines.

They are worried about the calories, but that's not what's killing you, you see all that meat and burned black parts around the pizza? Those are 100% carcinogens, it's called acrylomide, acrylomide is also present in the browning of the pizza bread "crust". Those robots are slowly but surely adding contaminants to the food with microscopic particles from their metal parts 👌

This is an expensive equipment that requires 2-3x the space necessary - and it doesn’t even do everything. From a business owner’s perspective, it’s cheaper to just find a small location and hire a few good employees, instead of racking up debt before even opening the shop for business.

It will start by mobile ordering and finish by ronboric packaging and everything between.. And they can afford to do at super cheap price becuase huge saving on labor cost that usually what become the biggest portion of pricing your products. In the other hand, small business or business that make everything from scratch going to go out of business regardless if they want or not except for one man operation job or family labors business, otherwise hiring peoples will become impossible due to unfair competition... I'm not sure about the mobile trucks in regards to cost efficiency but the rest of this makes sense and has been predicted for a long time. A human can take a ladle of sauce and spread it around with a pretty good level of consistency, but a robot can measure it down to a millimeter or better and spread it to absolute perfection far more quickly and at a fraction of the cost. Then look at the toppings, a robot will give every pizza the same amount of pepperoni each time, perfectly spaced, far more quickly and far more cheaply than a human ever could. Twenty years ago this was all obvious and it didn't require anything more than average intelligence to see where we were going. The industrial revolution should have taught us all we need, technology destroys the jobs which are most easily automated. Give it some time and these restaurants will be entirely automated, there may be one person who checks the machines but even that job will become obsolete.

Zume Pizza went out of business in January 2020. They quit making and delivering pizzas in California. They were spending $10 million a day to make pizzas. There were many customer complaints. People said melted cheese had dripped everywhere onto the pizzas. The pizzas were being baked in ovens while they were being transported to customers. Sometimes people complained about a lack of tomato sauce on the pizzas. Making pizzas is still a form of art in Italy. Pizza robots don't have the ability to replace humans yet. I wouldn't doubt all the frozen pizzas in grocery stores hurt Zume Pizza too. Some of the frozen pizzas were probably better than the Zume Pizzas and cost less.

Kids can make pizza. Why would you need a robot arm when you could have conveyer belt going through the oven. The topping machine is a easy design. Oh wait next year so we can get more money. These bosses are going to banks and wealthy investors who have too much money and asking for a huge loans and a big wage packet.

i have a lot to say in this. First in my younger years i used to work at a lot of different pizza places so i can say i know what i'm talking about. It is better to hire one or two guys to make pizza then to have 2plus million in high tech junk that has a shelf life. Lean and mean is the best way to upstart. I can put toppings on that pizza with sauce faster than that machine, im sure im not the only one. What next are you going to hire a guy to push a button. LOL!!! It all figures coming from Zume. Who owns one of those anyway. Almost everyone at the gym listens to music, i've never seen anyone with a zume. But i do see them at the dollar store. The gas on that truck must be crazy, you should get together with musk and make it electric, then the truck will get great gas milage. Too bad the truck will only cost 10 million per truck. But you're dumping money at stuff so keep up the good work. You're making a lot of young unemployed engineers money. I don't think you live in the real world. You don't think the big chain people haven't thought of this or what. I think this is a big tax write off. If it isn't god help you. A fool and his money are soon departed,

Innovation never begins as the most economical option. Yet companies invest millions into potential tech anyway. Why? Because the next advancement won't fall in your lap, you need to work for it. With a truck like that they can basically deliver a freshly made just out of oven pizza, aka they can charge more for that than their competitors. Stuff like that travels fast. Healthier pizza freshly baked? Yea I'll pay 15$ 20$ or perhaps even more for that. Mindshare.

Sorry but you looking at tried and true practices to be thrown out the window. If you just invented one thing i could say it might be an improvement over the old way, but let's face it, they have tried to turn the whole method on its head. Trust me all of these ideas have been tested before in many different ways, they all came up short. Time will tell with this idea. I have the opinion that all of this tech junk will be at a second hand store for pennies on the dollar, and that will be one low mileage used vehicle for sale in just a few short years. You are right about invention, but it just doesn't apply to this case. Sometimes the best inventions don't cost money. OH by the way little caesars is doing quite well, people like cheap. Look at wallmart! I like healthier, but you can make a good business model on just a small group. Sell what sells for less then you will be a success. I just made that up!

Agree. I think the robot sauce spreader is just a gimmick to make them different from other pizza brands. At the end of the day, it’s not replacing any jobs.

A few years ago I was having a debate with my brother (who has since passed on) about getting a prepaid toll pass. He argued that it was taking jobs away from people who desperately needed them. I then said to him "I'll bet back in 1920 some guy was sitting in his kitchen unemployed, wondering what he was going to do with the rest of his life saying , " Y'know , I used to have a pretty good job shoveling up after the horses! And then those stupid horseless carriages came along!" " I then asked him " Should we all go back to riding horses so that people can have jobs shoveling up after them?" As we were approaching the George Washington Bridge (with our newly-acquired toll pass) he was screaming at us "I TOLD YOU I DIDN'T WANT 1 OF THOSE (expletive deleted) JOB STEALING THINGS IN MY CAR!!!!! " As we approached the toll booths he continued " DAMN YOU! YOU DISOBEYED ME" As we passed the long lines he then said ---- "Oh , that is easier!"

To all the people gloating on the misfortunes of min wage workers: These robots will have to be taxed, just like self driving Uber and trucks. UBI (universal basic income) will come into effect. There are more guns than people in the USA. what will 100 million unemployed people and 300 million guns on the streets do to our country? Are we going to hire 100 million cops? Oh and by the way: Many industrial engineers, all mortgage brokers, real estate brokers, book keepers etc will lose their jobs. Millenials and gen Z hate paying high commissions that are not necessary.

No idea why people are blaming this on the $15 mininimum wage. Self check out and automation has been the goal of most businesses for over a decade when they were still paying Pope unlivable garbage wages. They dont care how little or how much they pay you if they can save a red cent throwing you on the street they will do it without blinking an eye.

While automation may have been an end goal, investment in human employee replacing technologies (that cost so much less over the long term) was a no brainer when it comes to having to raise your prices so high that people won't shop with you because your prices are so high (by mandate.)

Such a specific niche... Bad investment folks. Anyway, the robotic arm just outs the pizza into the oven only? And the delivery truck sounds like a huge waste of money and service life of these machines and the PhD staff needed to repair the facility will quickly price to be a ridiculous profit killer.

A robot like that, not to mention the other "robots" (most of them were very simple air cylinder/electric motor driven repeat machines) have very low maintenance. I doubt that robot, lifting that load that slowly, will need more than once a year joint oil changes for 10+ years.
