Regarding the comment about Lorrie having trouble hiding being annoyed at her little brother, watching the video carefully seems to indicate the opposite to me. Lorrie seems to show a bit of "Big Sister" pride in Larry actually. They really do bounce off each other very well and make a great act together.
@@navydad8916 go sit down ??? That's wasn't very nice. You don't even know me. I did say many times, this is a great show. But I am convinced the double neck guitar is only for show. Great show though. Have a great day.
@@navydad8916 I think we're on two different pages. I never said he can't play. I've seen him play in many videos. He's very good. What I did say is; from the looks of it. Looks like the double neck guitar is only for show. I have never seen him use both necks. If he does play both necks. Then yes, he's very good. You need to stop being disrespectful to people you don't even know. I know your parents brought you up better than that. Remember, what ever your behavior is; it's a reflection of your parents. Make your parents proud, be more respectful to people.
This sister-brother act should have been WORLD FAMOUS. I’m 65 and I only heard about them recently. Thanks, RU-vid. And thanks to whoever posted this 😊
Well, I read they performed together somewhere in 2008. This video clip was from a TV show called Town Hall Party, probably aired around 1958. "This boy" was born the same year as Rudy Giuliani, Gary Busey, Jimmy Page and Diana Ross...just to put it into perspective. I recently discovered The Collins Kids myself (while searching for 1950's Johnny Cash performances), and I'm AMAZED that I had never heard of them!!
Larry would grow up to become a producer. Funny thing was, most country stations and the Opry did not like rockabilly. However, most country fans heard it from The Collins Kids - for whatever reason no one seemed to mind when they played it!
@@nathandodge665 I guess he got the last laugh. Believe me he made it. He is one of the all-time greatest originators. Even the Beatles gave him credit for influencing them.
@@nathandodge665 don't be silly. He was rockin before the whole lot on TV no less.... First. He achieved every popstar dream first. Give him a break. Some kings don't need the crown. Hagd
@@SearchfortheMeaning still didn't make it big.he didn't sell a hundred million records. The average rock fan never heard of him until recently with the help of you tube.
Very talented duo and eager to give a good show but Larry Collins runs and jumps around way to much and he is a distraction because everyone else even Lorrie pretty much stand still and sing. Maybe he needs some kind of drugs to slow him down. I would rather watch Lorrie by herself
Watching young Larry have so much fun and doing such a great performance makes my day easier. I literally have tears of joy rolling down my cheeks 😂 I like better than the big boppers version.
Such a talented young scamp. Lorrie is quoted as saying something like " I never knew exactly what Larry would do during a performance. I especially had to watch my feet so he wouldn't tie them up with his guitar cord."
You're right- Ricky Nelson's first marriage failed. He said in a recorded interview "I should have married Lorrie Collins." It seems Ricky's mother, Harriet, was against him playing Rockabilly like the Collins Kids, so they never visited the Nelson home- Ricky often came over to their house.
I don't know much about him but I'm really glad that he didn't get sucked into the corporate music scene as deeply as his contemporaries. No dying on the john for him. Just awesome
No, he didn’t become a corporate puppet-instead, for one so incredibly talented (unfortunately whose ADD-like stage antics detracted from his beautiful sister) he peaked at age 14, and with the weird, mis-management of old crow-Mitch Miller, then headed downwards. He wrote a few songs before an anti-climactic career-death playing small clubs and being virtually unknown until a collector located these old videos and posted them on RU-vid. (BTW, Presley deserves some respect).
Yes- Larry wrote a lot of those songs- "Hop,Skip, and a Jump", "HotRod", etc. and reworked the country ballad "Blue Moon of Kentucy" into a Rock-n-Roll jumpfest.
Probablemente influenció a muchos músicos; obviamente nunca he escuchado que le dieran reconocimiento, creo porque nadie estaría dispuesto a decir aprendí de un niño 🧒 Tiene estilo, técnica y es muy entusiasta.
Haroldbeavis1969 I think the top neck His tools like a Mandolin if you ever want to play that he was just like Joe Mahpis Who also had a double Neck guitar
@Haroldbeavis1969 - ALL of the Town Hall Party and similar videos from the 50's TV shows film Larry using only the lower kneck. There is a video on YT where he FINALLY uses the upper kneck - he's probably at least 50 years old in the video but Lorrie was on stage with him. My guess is "Collins Kids" "2008" ish should produce the video in the SERP.
Sis ain't no kid. Whoa. Great duo, worthy of greater popularity and respect. Although when you're competing with the greats from that era, it's hard to break through that.
Happened on the Collins Kids by accident a couple years ago. thanks for RU-vid. I can't imagine why they were not great stars; thye certainly have the talent and are great fun to watch. Kind of sad to see such a missed opportunity.
I think one reason they didn't make it to the big-time was that everything they played was a cover of some other musician's songs. You needed your own tunes to make it.
They didn't make it because Lori wasn't that good of a singer and Larry's stage presence was oppressive. It's amusing for a moment. Then it's just annoying.
