This is fandom nirvana. Sly was so humble and down to earth here. This must have been surreal just to be chatting with this man without people interrupting you, just 1 on 1 chit chat. Truly epic, congrats sir!
Mike we are about the same age and i remember emulating Rocky in High School...Sly is the absolute best...Funny, Smart and really down to Earth....Great to see you two guys having a down to earth conversation about Rocky and you were absolutely great as well...Take Care!..P.S. I'm also from NEPA
I wish this clip was longer. Love hearing those two talk its obvious that Stallone really likes Kunda and thinks the world of him and what he does with the spirit of Rocky.
Good night Mike Kunda, I'm a Brazilian and a big fan of the rocky saga, I admire you for being an aficionado too, I went to Philadelphia and I really wanted to meet you, maybe next time. big hugs and success in life! Which platform can I watch your documentary on?
I had the privilege of meeting Sylvester Stallone on the set of Rocky V on rosehill street and somerset got some photos of us and Tommy Morrison and Taila Shire I got to watch how a movie was put together so many takes I was there till 5 am in the morning filming all night but Sly is a down to earth guy came over to take photos and chatt pretty cool I only lived around the corner where Rocky 1 -2-5 balboa were filmed I know all the locations were and the inside house scenes were filmed in a small commercial building at B street and Cambria streets on the corner
Mike, can you please say what you said to him after the cut about inside the building that was used as outside shots for Mickey's Gym? I'd seriously love to hear that (as many thousands of others would too!)
Mike this is so cool! I can' remember if I shared my Creed 3 story idea with you? If not here it is. See below - My sketch of Creed 3, raw and rough idea's TJ - The Creed story needs to be about how Adonis functions as a father with a deaf child and deaf wife - How you communicate as a family should be the theme of the film - How does Adonis find his passion for boxing now the Rocky is gone - Creed 3 is about going back to the basics; maturing as a husband, father, and man - Adonis fights a much younger, more skilled fighter The Story - It’s been 3 years since Adonis has fought Victor Drago - Rocky has moved away to be with his son - Adonis has lost his passion for boxing and is struggling with depression - A New Heavy Weight Champion has been chosen by the US boxing committee due to Adonis failure to defend his title - Young brash Ublado “Speed” Sanchez, an American Hispanic gold medalist wants to cement his legacy as the best pound for pound fighter but needs to beat Adonis to officially be recognized as the greatest in his era - Ublado is undefeated, younger and more skilled - Adonis’s wife, Bianca, has lost her hearing completely and their challenge is how to not only communicate with each other but how to raise their 3 yr old daughter who is also deaf - Bianca lost her music deal and is struggling to find peace with her hearing loss and becoming a mother - Adonis is stressed and struggling to understand how to be a father to a deaf child, - Adonis's biggest struggle is how to communicate with his deaf daughter - Adonis’ mother comes to stay with the family and helps out while giving advice and teaching moments to her son about rising a family. - Adonis trainer, Tony “Little Duke” Burton tries to rekindle Adonis’s love for fighting by taking him to one of Ublado’s fights - Ublado notices that Adonis is in the crowd and confronts him after his victory fight - Adonis ignores Ublado’s requests to fight him - Bianca noticing that Adonis’s depression has taken a toll and she starts to urge him to get back in the ring - Adonis accepts Ublado’s challenge - Press conference is very much a spectacle and hype event for Ublao - Adonis goes back to Philly (where it all started: Go back to the basics) to train - Adonis is struggling to train and temporally gives up - Rocky’s son ( or Rocky.... if Sly decides to be in the movie this would be his only part) Robert hears that Adonis is struggling and shows up in Philly to help motivate Adonis to fight. Robert gives Adonis the gold boxing glove neckless that Rocky gave him; the same neckless Micky gave to Rocky. A scene of love or passing on the torch - Adonis beats Ublado in the 12 round by knockout Adonis: Training Scene - Back in Philly and in the old gym where he trained in Creed 1; the Same training staff except Tony is now part of Adonis’s team like he was in Creed 2. - Adonis’s needs to become not only faster but quicker - Trains old school; blood sweat and tears - Final scene in the training montage; Adonis running up the rocky steps with power and honor for Rocky (highly emotional music, gritty expressions on Adonis face) very emotional scene Ublado: Training Scene - Upper class Olympic boxing facility - Multiple super talented sparing partners, state of the art training; Ublado is aggressive and arrogant Fight scene - Fight takes place in LA - Bianca and their daughter do not attend the fight until the final round - Adonis is getting plumaged by the speed and quickness of Ublado - Ublado starts to fatigue in the final round - Adonis starts to get a 2nd breath and starts winning in the 12th round - The final knockout scene is similar to Rocky 2 as both Ublado and Adonis fall down - The referee starts counting - The feeling is a high pressure, heart pounding as both boxers fall to the ground - Adonis is bloody and his vision is blurred the room is spinning he’s exhausted he can’t hear the crowd chanting his name but catches a glimpse of his daughter in the crowd holding up her hands in sign language “I love you, Daddy” - Adonis with all his might pulls himself up off the rope and wins! - Adonis is crying and holding his daughter along with his wife - Themes in the movie - Go back to the basics - Irony in the characters; Adonis becomes more Rocky and Ublado is more Creed - Ubalod is a cocky, condescending, pampered athletic, and much more talented than Adonis - Adonis is broken emotionally and struggling to find relevance as a boxer - The Creed family’s new dynamic is how to communicate now that wife and child are deaf
Mike in another of your videos I asked if you were considered for the Sly role in the 2017 Chuck Wepner film. Crazy it feels like the mandella effect when I am looking for it on netflix and its not there but there is a 2019 biopic in existence. You said you are not an actor, but you are and it does not take much with a bit of directing. You would have done much better as an actor and look alike than the what they worked with. Nonetheless, I did not agree with the portrayal of Stallone and even Wepner himself sued those filmakers who were a b movie quality that ran off and stole Wepners story. Knowing loyalties are stronger than royalties, I degress the notion that you could have been cast unless it was a fair portrayal rather than fabricating controversy. In the end at least the truth was portrayed that our beloved Sly did his due diligence and offered Wepner a role in Rocky 2
How great to see you guys together. Mike.. I'm booking to see you soon! Been trying for 9 years so far.. determined to come take the tour with you.. Seeing Stallone in UK in July too in Birmingham.. cannot wait..
So awesome. This is a dream come true for any true Stallone fan! I come to Philly all the time but I can never get to see the statue or stairs because nowhere to park my truck and I'm too far a walk from where I park at the port.
Rocky movies meant so much to me and my mom, especially back in the 80's . Rocky was my mom's and mes thing. We enjoyed the message behind each Film. Rocky 5 is my personal favorite, it's the first rocky film my mom and I ever saw together at the theater when it first came out. We saw "ROCKY BALBOA" when it came out on DVD,cause by 2006,she had trouble getting around due to her diabetes, she said, she liked that one that Best. She passed away a few years after, she would of loved the Rocky Tours in Philadelphia, she would of Definitely loved you Mike, I do appreciate what you do in the spirit of Rocky Balboa. Ever since I lost her,i have not been the same. Anyways,i babble Alot,My name is Dave IRL. I bought a Rocky Fedora from the Stallone shop,i wear it everyday,in memory of my mother. Keeppunchin 🥊 P.s,i know you are busy guy,i know you probably won't have time to reply back,i hope you have a wonderful day my friend
Have to say it’s nice to see sly is a humble guy and is capable of having a one on one like a regular guy. So many celebrities have lost the ability relate to regular people.
I meant Sly Stallone 3 times back in 1990 but he wasn't humble back then as I guess people do change for the better. When I meant him he didn't seem down to earth or anything like that.
Just bought and watched "The Pretender": fantastic job and inspiring stuff, Mike! Perseverance, consistancy and lots of love are the lessons we got from Sly! Bravo! (And a special big up to the music of the documentary!)
Hi mike Im french and me and my 2 childreen are big fans about rocky We will come in manhattan on next april for holidays and we want to come in philly to see rocky's house on tuculum street and the Mickey's gymnase. My childreen are 11 and 14 years old... thanks for your help and bravo for your vidéos mike ! Teddy
Its safe if you go with Mike. I went with my friend back in 2012. We went to Genos and Pats cheesesteak stall and the Rocky statue but couldnt locate Rockys house or gym. It was getting late and area is a bit rough so we decided to call it a day. Def wouldve booked a tour with Mike had I known about him back then
Thanks for sharing Mike! That is interesting that you finally Met Stallone! and that He took the Time to Talk to you!!. It would be very Nice to Meet Him One Day Too!!, Because He is My Favorite Actor as well!!😃👏👏👏👊✌👍
Really enjoyed this! I grew up in Fishtown and was 9 years old when Rocky was being filmed in the neighborhood. You can tell that Sly has great memories of this area not only from his youth but of shooting a film that would make his mark in Hollywood. He really is a down to earth guy and a true artist.
Mike I truly love this I’m currently watching the pretender again and when your wife is talking about you wanting to sit in a room and talk with him this moment brought me here watching this again I look forward to one day meeting you and taking your tour as you well know
