The gunner at 2:20 aiming for Rodan's eye instead of just randomly firing at its body is a neat touch

Rodan coming out the volcano, causing huge winds with his wings, ghidorah bringing the storm with him, the epic clash in the stormy clouds. Fuck I love this scene and movie.

That thunderclap he does to instantly produce a vertical sonic boom ascent is so epic. I hope Rodan gets to show off more in future movies.

This movie did an excellent job of making the monsters feel like the mythic forces of nature they are meant to be... The shot of Ghidorah within the storm is equal parts terrifying and majestic.

I feel for Rodman. Dude wakes up after how many years and the first thing he does is get shot. Then he tries to defend himself and runs straight into a F*king three headed super dragon that whoops his ass for no reason at all. What a day bro.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the entire film. Also, does anyone notice the waterspouts at the 2:14 mark that are caused by and obviously apart of Ghidorah's storm? Goodness, the amount of power Ghidorah has is insane. I know I'm stating the obvious concerning Ghidorah's cataclysmic power and abilities, but it still blows my mind. As was made clear in the film, Ghidorah is a living extinction event (typhoons, hurricanes (category 6 included), and any other form of storms) who, if left unchecked, would've permanently terraformed the entire Earth to his liking by spreading his superstorms all over the planet until it's completely covered in a perpetual, apocalyptic nightmare.

Can we all take a moment to realize how batshit bonkers Rodan was in this movie? Fucking chad yeeted himself straight at Ghidorah like a madlad only minutes after waking up.

Notice how at around 2:31 he says they’ll reach King Ghidorah in about 60 seconds. Fast forward to 3:31, 60 seconds later, and that’s exactly when they reach him. Great attention to detail!

0:52 - I love how Rodan is smiling before he takes off in pursuit.

The fact that that monster held its own against the military and the other monster really shows how tough the writers made the monsters . Wow. Incredible.

Dear god this scene was perfect. From the incredible monsters, the s-tier sound design, to the absolutely banger OSTs done by Bear McCreary. This movie was just so awesome

The CGI in this movie sure was amazing

One of the things I love about this movie is how accurately it portrays something the size of Rodan flying by. Given Newtons third law, every time Rodan flaps his wings it puts out enough wind to lift a monster the size of a mountaintop off the ground at great speed. Every times he flapped his wings it would be like a huge F5 tornado if not worse. Just the wind disturbances created by something that massive flying by that fast would absolutely wreck a small town.

They did a magnificent job on the monsters in this movie. They're majestic and frightening at the same time. Especially when they stretch out their feet to grab something or someone. The fight scenes between the monsters are awesome! Love this movie

When I saw the trailer, It looked like rodan would be demolished by ghidorah. When watching this clip, turns out he can hold his own. Now that's toughness.

I really enjoy Kyle Chandler's acting he plays the "overwhelmed guy" so perfectly.

I feel like, unlike most monster movies, these creatures actually have brains and dont just run around roaring and destroying everything. Also I love Rodan's move at 1:57

Rodan and Ghidorah felt so much more threatening in this scene alone than Shimo and Scar King in the entire of GvK.

As awesome as Godzilla vs Kong was. I think there was one thing that was missing, and it was the “grand” feeling. There are so many shots in this movie that are from the perspective of the humans and near the ground, it makes the kaiju feel bigger and more intimidating!

The fact that Rodan eliminated an elite squadron, almost caught a Bomber and didn’t cuz of Monster Zero just shows you how badass he really is.

I just love how in the movies the fighter jets equipped with the long-range guided missiles engage in a dogfight with monsters, aliens or other things that you’d prefer to stay away from

This movie is so underrated, I remember seeing it on premiere night and checking the box office numbers for weeks after and being mind blown that the numbers weren’t higher, and yet somehow Godzilla vs Kong did so much better and got so much more social media buzz when it came out on streaming services during covid. This was the best movie in the Godzilla monster verse so far and I hope any movies they make relating to this franchise going forward are done like this one and not like Godzilla vs Kong where more than half the movie was humans interacting with each other. They made the same mistake transformers did after the first film and started focusing on the humans rather than the monsters/transformers. This movie is essentially what transformers 1 was to the transformers franchise.

Rodan while portrayed as a Villain here is more interesting than the surface level observation. He really only attacks because the humans attacked him first, which while obvious just says "Oh what are these smaller flying things?" and not "Who dares awaken me" Michael Dougherty is Amazing, the Love and Care put into this movie is so evident

You know what made me terrified of Rodan in this scene? Not necessarily its size, but its intelligence. It's killing the jet squad either one by one or a few at once according to its position relative to the nearest jets, and finishes off by simply rolls to quickly kill the last half of the jet squadron.

they did a really good job of making rodan seem like an actual threat because i remember back in the day watching godzilla being like bro its just a flying bird but here hes like straight up destroying houses with just flaps of his wings

Idk why but I love the short moment when the 4 jets turn around and fire their missiles. Also, when they hit Rodan and he actually feels pain, he realizes that these are threats, needed to be taken out. He doesn't kill them for the sake of it. That's why the town got mostly spared.

For those of us who grew up with the original Godzilla films from the 60s and 70s, I loved how they worked the alternate name of "Monster Zero" in there. If these movies were a part of your childhood, then you know the significance of that name. This was a spectacular reimagining of Ghidorah and Rodan.

What's surprising is how they decided F-35s would be the best fit for this mission. They should've probably gone for something a little more maneuverable, since stealth isn't important when the enemy isn't using radar. Also, I feel like they would be doing a whole lot more to fight back rather than just flying in a straight line. C'mon, they're jets. They can do some crazy maneuvers.

This movie was so bad ass. Every monster was a force. Nuclear Godzilla was like Gogeta Super Saiyan 4

Fun fact, because of budget cuts the crew were forced to simply travel to South America and actually film Rodan in flight. Half of them died.

Nobody notice how badass that Squadron was? "Gold Squadron engage on our six." "Copy, start the clock. " Every single Pilot went out like a boss.

Pilot: "Copy, start the clock" Me: "That was so badass to say for some reason"

Rodan strikes me as the thrillseeker of the bunch, the king of the wildcards. He'll destory the planet with fire and wind just for a laugh. But then he meets his peers. Rodan fought Ghidorah and lost - force to kneel for a chance to continue his path of destruction. Rodan fought Mothra and thought her smaller size she would be an ease kill. Mothra was clever and humble Rodan which shock him cuz she hurt him where his pride was - his wings. Rodan saw Mothra get destroyed by Ghidorah and realized his chances of killing Ghidorah and becoming King of the Monsters are slim to none now. Then enters Godzilla who oblierates Ghidorah to kingdom come. Now seeing Godzilla as the strongest and just, Rodan bows to the true King. But he wait until he too is powerful enough to fight a God amongst Monsters. Until then, they are brothers in arms. That's just my two cents.

This is my most favorite scene in all of the movie and i have to say for everytime i watch this scene all over again, it just blows me completely away. Its so worth pausing for a moment just to appreciate the amount Visual FX and Sound Design that went into this beautifully crafted sequence. The animation is beyond perfection and i have nothing but utter appreciation considering how far we have come all the way from stop motion animation. I remember watching this at the cinema, the sound effects had me hella numb with immense joy! i had to go back to watch again a 2nd time!! Sadly, youtube dont seem to support dtsX or Atmos yet. But Watching this scene with dolby atmos track on bluray + dolby atmos headphones remains an unforgettable, lifetime experience for me over and over again. The sound is pure bliss. Kaiju cinema at its absolute best. Thank you WB!

In Ghidoras first scene you can really see how big he is. But at 3:31 once you see him is when you realize… that’s a damn Titan. Watched this in theaters with my friends and that whole 10 second shot just had our jaws on the floor and 1 of them said “Holy Shit”. He is massive

This was a great monster movie, and I almost cried thinking how lucky I am to watch a Godzilla monster movie in a theater with an amazing sound system.
