I love that these two did a wrestling episode together on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia 24 years later. The Maniac and the Trashman!

Piper was so convincing and passionate that it was difficult to believe he wasn't really that angry. This is missing from todays promos. RIP Roddy Piper

God I miss Piper. He was an absolute monster... in the ring... and on the mic. All time fav, hands down.

Roddy was a master of taking those quick gulps of air every few seconds so that his blistering tirades would never wane in intensity. His verbal barrages were impenetrable walls of smack talk. There was no getting a word in edgewise with him unless he allowed it.

Nobody cut more believable and energetic promos than Piper. One of the best ever.

And years later, Piper would cameo on It's Always Sunny

Man's a genius. They Live is one of the best movies ever.

Rowdy was always my favorite. My kids,too! And the movie "They Live" by John Carpenter ,starring Roddy is one of the best scifi films ever made.

One of the greatest matches to never happen: Da Maniac vs. The Trashman.

Had a chance to meet him just months before he passed. Awesome guy and true gentlemen. We exchanged jokes and I got a pic of me shaking my fist at him and he was totally into it. He remarked " yeah do that" as we both smiled. So friendly and cordial. 👍👍

The wrestlers back then were on a different level, as far as acting skills were concerned. I could watch this sort of entertainment all day.

Why Roddy was never able to become a huge movie star is beyond me, he should have won an Academy Award at some point.

Man I love Roddey when he gets worked up, he had a way of talking so fast he sounded like he was speaking in tongues and his breathing pattern reminded me of when a little kid tells a story but is trying to say to much at once and forgets to breathe.

And that crazy intensity hasn't been seen since 1985! Piper is an absolute Legend!! My childhood

Piper was my all time fav. grew up watching him on Portland Wrestling back in the 70's before he hit it big. Talented and entertaining.

Piper was it his best here. The build up to the match against Hogan, the match itself, and the immediate aftermath completely changed the world of wrestling.

The good old days! The 1970s and 1980s! There was never a dull moment with Piper, Hogan, Andre The Giant, Superstar Billy Graham, Bruno Sammartino and Savage.

As a kid the only wrestler that could get me to jump out of my seat when the first few notes of his music hit was Roddy Piper.

Savage, Hogan, Warrior, Piper....all had intensity. Today’s wrestlers could put you to sleep with their promos

Piper was the cat's meow, plain and simple. True definition of a PURE BAD-ASS. He sugar coated nothing unlike all the other Hoser's of that time. We all should follow his lead.

I've totally lost interest in pro wrestling in recent years because there are no more "fun" characters like Roddy Piper anymore. They're all generic and can't offend anyone because they have to be politically correct. R.I.P. Roddy. You were the toughest son of an unnamed goat ever.

1985, Rod Toombs over the top. ain't no other pro wrestlers going forward gonna top Piper. Rod was not a gimmick, just a rough and tumble Scottish Canadian. And a good bagpipe, good enough to complete with the city of Toronto pipe band in 1969. My pal Jake Watson, who is a world class piper remembers Roddy competing with the city of Toronto pipe band in 1969. I knew Roddy personally for twenty years. God Bless Roddy, & the Toombs clan. Just giving Devito his due, he'd never watched wrestling before but was very humble and doing his best to put wrestling over despite not really being a fan or having the words. Wonder what he thought about Piper coming in soaking wet in seemingly just a towel. I mean I'm sure he was told Piper would interrupt but I doubt he ever imagined a crazy, naked scotsman bursting in.

What a true showman. He really had it down. They should use his style as a reference on how it should be done.

Piper was the man of all men!! I watched it because of him and after WM 1, I never watched another match again. I used to go to the Boston garden religiously to watch matches, but after WM 1 being on PPV, I never looked back
