As promised, I have been given the OK to share this information from Asus, so despite feeling cheap this gamepad has taken some punishment in testing should that relax anyone's worries. Some of the testing we have performed on the RAIKIRI PRO - Environment test : Damp heat storage test / Low temp / Thermal shock ME reliability test : Drop test Lifespan test : button lifespan test/ switch locker / IO port connector right / left bumper - 1 million cycle main buttons 1 million cycle Package test : Vibration / Drop Joystick life cycle test - one million cycles with a return to -+5 degrees tolerance further; unlike many other controllers, we have compensation options in the software. Buttons have a coating application for superior resistance to sweat and friction Cable torsion/bend testing -+ 60 degrees and 400G load weight for 4000 cycles.

"I have been given the OK to share this information from Asus" I can't think of a scenario where you need the permission of a manufacturer to share your own piece of information or documentation that you have seen, unless you're an employee and/or signed a contract (i.e. like many "reviewers" aka independent marketers receiving free gifts from manufacturer for publicity) saying that you're bound by their terms instead of being bound to truthfulness. You're not under any obligation to hide information that a manufacturer wants hidden, unless you need to keep gravy train tickets and you don't seem like that kind of shill reviewer.

I bought this controller right around the time of your review. I have about 10 hours of game play on it and I am actually impressed with it. I also have an Asus computer and had no problems with Armoury crate. I plugged it in right out of the box and did the firmware update first thing. I set up bluetooth and customized the back buttons on Armoury crate with no issue. I was able to test out dead zones and trigger zones no problem. I also tweaked the RGB to my liking. I should say I don't own an X box and bought it for PC gaming only. One thing you pointed out was how cheap the plastic feels. If you look very closely at the left grip is ROG in tiny print all over it. That is hard to do with quality plastic and almost impossible to do on cheap plastic. I disagree with your overall opinion of this controller for PC. In all I spent about an hour messing with settings and mapping the back buttons. It was fun. Is it worth $169.99? I would give it a 130 to 140 dollar value even with the setting screen. As an X box controller, I have no idea how it is. I had fun with Halo, DOOM, DOOM Eternal and the Quake 2 remaster on PC. I really like the feel of the rumble. If you really look closely at the etching designs on this controller you will see on cheap plastic would look really bad. That is not the case. As far as the build quality, I will repost in a year and let you know. I happen to like the very different feel of the back buttons, it is very easy to feel the difference between the top ones and the bottom ones. I find the screen very helpful for setting profiles and switching between bluetooth and RF. I think the RGB is the gimmick that over run costs but I like it. Try giving this controller another chance. I generally don't like third party controllers. I do like this one, it does all the stuff I want it to do.

To add to my response post about this controller. I went to Best Buy's website to read the reviews. The Number one complaint seems to be the lack of wireless connectivity to the X box. I can understand the complaint since this controller is marketed with the X box branding. I also wanted to state after looking more closely at the plastic the controller is made from it is higher quality than I initially stated. When I attempted to flex the plastic, it is very solid. it is more solid that the Dual sense edge. The plastic does not creak under pressure and the controller does not flex at all. Maybe you got a bad one, I don't know. On mine the buttons are very tightly fitted and very firm, not mushy at all. The controller does not rattle and I have accidentally dropped it once to no affect. The reason I don't own an X box is that everyone I know that has owns one has a dead X box. All of my Playstations still work and I rebuilt the disk drive on my PS2 with no parts. It needed cleaning and lubing. I trust Sony products because all the ones I have owned or sold worked as desired. I regret selling my PS1 over a decade ago. I have a major gripe about the new X box. The storage expansion is dumb. PS5 uses a Gen 4 PCIe NVME M.2 socket for added storage. M.2 prices are dropping like a stone with X box expansion drives are still too expensive. Therefore I will likely never test this controller on an X box.

I am back after having completed Quake 2 Remastered with the ROG controller on PC. It was a lot of fun. It felt like playing on a console with PC graphics averaging about 280 frames per second. I am going to play Call of the Machine next on the Remastered expansion pack and will return with another update. I have never played Quake 2 on PC with a controller enabled with rumble. The experience was what I consider to be incredible. The controller is still running strong on one initial charge 4 out of 5 bars with rumble at %100 and RGB at %75. The battery is far and away light years ahead of the Dual sense edge. I like the status indicator is built into the LED display on start up and I can check it any time I like. Amoury Crate also has a percentage on battery life status. I will reiterate, I bought this exclusively for PC gaming as I don't have an X box and likely never will. I did accidentally drop this controller again, very hard and now the right grip has a tiny amount of give. I was standing when I dropped it and it landed on my computer desk foot which is metal. I thought I broke my controller. It's fine, not even a mark but I can feel the grip crunched ever so slightly. That makes twice I dropped it and has survived my abuse. I am glad they did not plaster the thumb sticks with rubber, this was a huge problem with my old PS4 controller. The rubber eventually came apart in chunks and it drove me crazy.

@@jwanb11 Yes, I am not a big fan of Xbox controllers, I prefer PlayStation style controllers. I bought mine at Best Buy for 169.99 which is very expensive for this controller. I have players MKXL, DOOM, DOOM Eternal and Quake 2 remastered with it on Steam. You WILL need Asus Armoury Crate to do any customization with it and to update the firmware. This is not optional. Battery life is very good even with rumble and lighting on full. It is the only controller that I have that gives rumble feedback playing on PC. I recommend playing with the 2.4 ghz dongle. The bluetooth connectivity is not as good. I have, to this date, not tried it with Xbox so I have no idea if it a good Xbox controller. The reason I bought mine is because I have two Asus ROG Strix gaming computers, a laptop and a desktop. It a seamless ROG experience for me.

No one has mentioned the cheap plastics but I'm glad you did here as well as test the wireless. From what I've seen the screen is far from gimmicky but the wallpaper is yes, I hate guessing the mode I'm in with leds.

“SLIPPING LIKE UH BAD TRANSMISSION!”😂🤣 I wish we had crossed paths when serving with our slave name badges on🤣. Other than that, I’m Uber stoked for you brother, keep up the phenomenal work! You’re the absolute best controller reviewer on RU-vid PERIOD 💪🤓! However, I must confess that I actually bought this day one when it released in Georgia and then had to leave for a contract in Alaska that night and forgot it, so I snagged a series S and another one (rai-$hi++y pro) in Anchorage since I heard that I had room for the smaller footprint. But when I tell you that this slightly excited adhd equipped man child carefully opened the packaging I was 😮surprised at how amazing it looked…….. and then I TOUCHED IT…….and I mean this quite literally, I lifted it out of the box with what some may perceive as “baby hands” and it shifted with a slight squeak as I barely gripped it😅…. Now look, I KNOW WHATCHA THINKIN! But no, that isn’t what I did since I went out to the islands to do the things. I in fact attempted to “man up” if you will and tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and play my newest addiction *DESTINY 2* (while this game is amazing) the controller began to despise my vile existence as continued conducting my orchestra of mild and somewhat average gameplay😂🤣. After about 2 hours I can proudly say that I went back to OEM. So if you could find it within your heartless yet capable soul💪🤓, I would greatly appreciate any input/suggestions for solid series S/X controllers that can be used wirelessly and have clicky responsive buttons.

@2stepaheadYOU I have the game sir g7 se and what I've noticed is the drift does not come from the magnetic sensors but the actual mechanical "spring" tension loosening over time. The dead zones on at least that controller are so incredibly small that I can produce reticle movement on the screen with visually imperceptible pressure on the sticks. Nothing at all like my elite v2 that had 7% rightward movement with no input from me all the time with those bs traditional pots. Hall effect all day baby. I just ordered some hall effect xbox stick boxes to replace them in the elite.

To this day my favorite controllers are Gamecube: wavebird, PS5: Megamodz with 2 paddles & mechanical buttons. And the 8Bitdo pro controllers for PC & Switch. No Xbox for me as I do not care for what Microsoft has to offer in the console gaming space (I do have a series X, sadly). Keep up the awesome work!

I just want a wireless controller for my Ally that I can open up the commad center and stuff like I do on the Ally AHHHH are there any controllers that let you do this? I tried the Mobapad M9 but I couldnt map anything because the extra buttons are hard set. :( Any alternatives that let you map everything? The armory Crate gamepad settings dont seem to acknowledge all the buttons on controllers.

9:00 how much do you use all of your controllers? The average user definitely will only have a single controller with rubber grips, so I'm wondering if your experience with the wear and tear is different because of your diverse collection. But to be fair I do agree with you. I only use my elite series 2 controller and I've had that since 2020 with no issues with the rubber grips. The bumpers are a different story though lol.

The scuf instinct Pro, and elite series 2 I have owned for over two years and played a shit load on as they are two of my favorites that I tend to grab every time I just want to play a game with a good controller in my hand. Some of the other ones like the HYPR, admittedly haven’t gotten as much use either because I haven’t owned them as long or I just don’t grab them as much. Very good question by the way

I kinda feel vindicated when you said the worst rear paddle design is the old scuff design because I bought one of those back in the day and they broke not long after and it's really turned me off of pro controllers to this day lol. If I do end up buying one though I'd probably get the edge.

I own a few “pro” controllers and I can say without a doubt the scuf is by far the worst and feels really cheap despite It costing 2x to 3x as the other ones and it doesn’t help that their customer support isn’t good either.

😂, i’m sorry to hear you had a negative experience with your OG scuff, but unfortunately that’s pretty common. Scott has come along way and I actually like their current PlayStation and Xbox controllers, although I do think there’s better options out there considering they still offer a six month warranty in the rear buttons while improved still are 7.5/10. When you review the duo 16, if you have time and feel like it, please mention the 2nd screen can only utilize the CPU's graphics and jitters badly on 4k video. And the keyboard fails quickly... mine failed at 14 months. It's a purchase a person loves for the first 2 months, and then regrets until its replaced... which I did.

Well damn, it caught my attention and being a ROG fan boy I decided to research if this controller is any good. But when a guy with a wall full of controllers tells you a controller sucks don't buy it, would be pretty stupid to go and buy it anyway, specially at this price point lol. In Australia it's close to $300!

For curiosity sake, I wonder if the dongle itself works with the Xbox via the Brook Wingman adapter’s USB port. If that doesn’t work, maybe the Bluetooth mode itself can directly sync to the Brook adapter. If either of these work then at least people who unfortunately buy this have at least some wireless support on Xbox provided they buy the Brook Wingman as well.

So I've just got this controller yesterday and I like it but it's not a good replacement for my Razer T2 Chroma. The perks are is that it's light weight, the style is amazing and its multiple connections. But the absolute down fall is the Ergonomics. Its a tight hold, the start and menu buttons are in a tighter position and the back pedals/buttons are meant for slender man. Would say Razer would be your better choice despite that the cord provided will fail to connect with the controller after awhile.

I think taking care of the cord is essential for every wired controller not just the razer. That is why I carefully put my cord away when I'm not using it to avoid it from getting damaged.

Mine says I can't upgrade the firmware unless I connect it with the wire and the dongle at the same time. I have a rog ally and the ROG 65 W charger/dock they sell only has 1 USB. I should be able to update the controller with just the USB cable connection. Wince the ROG ally has no USB except for the type c

That’s a really hard question to answer I want to do a video identical to the Xbox comparison video for the PlayStation and switch platforms. Or I can break it into three distinct price points because I think that’s the best way to compare these controllers. @GamerHeavenOfficial I definitely prefer a 4 paddle/button controller with mouse like triggers. I never cared for aesthetics. Low to mid $200 is what I'd prefer. I'll definitely look forward to the video if you ever decide to do one!

@@GamerHeavenOfficial well you clearly are lucky, I got one and right out of the box it drifted like crazy and some of the face buttons wouldn't register every input, so I had to send it back. I was so pissed, mainly because of how georgeous of a controller it was. Now I'm controller-less and wondering what to choose as my next one

@@avaraz6941 I sadly agree. very lucky. on my third Elite v2 now in three years. first one left hand bumper button fail. second stick drift. third motherboard failure (all buttons are registering active inputs at same time) Now got the the Gulikit KK2 pro. great controller but cant handle not having rear buttons.

Okay I’ve gotta atleast say this, if you really grind in and play with dead zones and linear/dynamic and such, and really dial it in, besides cramping after long hours from big ole hands, truly, idk it feel, really good. As someone who put 60 days in wz1 and 3 elite 2s worth of replacements to slide cancel on paddles…shhhhhhhh don’t tell anyone I kind like it alot

i'm that "weirdo" you pointed out at 18:04. that comment you're referring to was about your claim of circularity = accuracy, which it does not. by default using two axis points to measure is going to be square. you can fake it later in firmware so it feels more circular. thanks for your understanding and taking my comment way too personal.

Hey I know u haven't had any problem with rubber on ur controllers. But ur more of an exception than the norm. Most people get one pro controller, and run it until the wheels fall off. So the normal consumer is experience problems like rubber peeling and stick drift before a reviewer who uses over grand worth of different controllers in a single day.

Yes Sir, I get that. I do have like three go to controllers for PlayStation and Xbox that I use all the time, more accurately there’s like one controller for each of those consuls that I grab all the time, both of which have rubber grips and are still in mint condition, however I know exactly what you’re talking about my ex brother-in-law shredded through like three scuff controllers in a year that had rubber grips, I don’t know if he’s clenching for maximum intensity while he plays, more likely it was the older scuf rubber which was trash

If Microsoft would just add the hall effect sticks and clicky everthing else, to their premium controller, it would almost be perfect. Perfection is with bluetooth, too.

@@GamerHeavenOfficial My Hoyoverse handheld, had for about a year and am ready for more: A bit big, tbh, kinda wish they made a jr version but other than that I love the thing. It's hard to recommend it to someone who already has a Steam Deck or an Ally, but if someone wants a double duty everyday carry or a media monster it'd be a strong pick. Especially when they look as good as they do. Back when I was cross shopping the closest competitor felt like the Sony Xperia line but they don't seem to take cooling as seriously, even without the kinda gimmicky RoG fan. Battery is strong, the OLED is sharp, and the stereo speakers are loud and crisp for regular use; with the headphone jack always there when you wanna get serious. Just hope your hand is ready for the workout, the little guys a chonker.

Thanks to this channel I discovered gamesir kaleid. Normally, I'd avoid it like plague - cheap chinese controller from unknown brand, costs less than a xbox series s controller, no way it's any good. I'd be WAY better off with trustmaster with swappable thumbsticks, right? WRONG!! I love my kaleid, I calibrated it to 4% dead zone (which is much better than my xbox s controller with 15-20% dz due to drifting and default dead zone on most controllers I've used, which default to 10%), its super sensitive, super grippy (simple textured plastic) it looks awesome (transparent shell) and it works well. It's wired, doesnt have a charging dock but 8bitdo felt like crap in my hand and default calibration was really bad - it was advertised to be "hall effect sensor" sticks but gamepad tester showed huge errors (unlike kaleid). So i just returned that. Wireless with chraging dock would be great. If trustmaster ever pulls their head out of their arse and makes a wireless controller with replaceable sticks based on hall effect sensors with 1% dead zone, in-gamepad hardware calibration (like kaleid), "wheel" type "stick" for racing games (which natively supports all games by simply mapping wheel to X axis on controller), with a dock station... I'll be 8nterested even at $200+ price. Other users will probably appreciate back buttons and trigger stops, hair triggers. But I doubt thrustmaster will ever abandon lifelong strive towards maximizing profit margins and will actually make a controller that users want, so at least I have kaleid. Thankfully, it's easy to disassemble and looks like it would be easy to upgrade or replace parts if necessary. Oh, and its pretty cheap, too. I would never know if it wasn't for this channel. Lots of thanks!!
