In 1972, Ford rally ace Roger Clark recorded a famous victory in Britain's RAC Rally to end 12 years of Scandinavian dominance of the event. Driving by day and by night, in dire conditions, Clark fought off the challenges of stars like Stig Blomqvist, Simo Lampinen, Shekhar Mehta, Ove Andersson and the rest to bring his Mk 1 Ford Escort home to win. Just watched this Brilliant victory and I remember it as a young lad. Roger Albert Clark Mr RAC & Tony Mason and Dickie Davies narrating … classic 😄

I grew up in Hinckley in the 70's, always found ironic that his day jab was selling Renaults! He would occasionally have a works Escort tucked a way in the workshop rubbing shoulders with Renault 4's etc.

I remember Roger Clark's win and his driving from the 70's. He and Ford Motorsport surely did light up the British rallying scene again.

such legends,both roger and the car,never again will someone drive a mk1 escort the way roger did,the sound of that BDA on full chat through the forest its pure music to my ears!!!!!
