That movement from Fed is amazing. You can feel the intensity of the hitting session right through the screen. Crazy how high they play above the net, with an amount of spin thats far away from any club player. Still a joy to watch this session several times...
Everybody talks about Stan's back hand but he kills his forehand. Roger is so graceful and agile. He is also a master of controlling the ball with spin.
***** I don't believe many people think that. Many people admire his effortless looking game style but i don't think they doubt his work ethic to achieve that. Fed does train hard but these sessions at major tournaments are all about getting loose and finding your rhythm.

Yup! This is a good angle to watch two great players. I know Federer moves fast but wow, you can appreciate it even more from this view. How does he generate so much racquet acceleration on his backhand? His footwork is amazing. It's like watching a Barishnakov -- elegant and smooth.
The best “practice” Federer video on RU-vid. Their intensity is very high in white T shirt of Federer but wanes in the black shirt. This is more a training session for both of them. You can hear at one point one of Federer’s coaches tell him “enough” and to tone it down.

Wow, Roger Federer puts 110% effort into his training, I like how his coaches feed the ball right after roger or stan misses, it gives more practice and saves you from thinking too much about missing
rubbish, because there are so many long, wide or short balls in these ralleys where they just continue to ralley. So in truth many points would be far shorter ...so dont even begin to compare this with the serious match in a GS or so.
Since this is only practice, both players are at free will to hit anywhere...so they are just going over board...none the less I love the practice video..
Is there a reason they don't broadcast this angle on TV? I've watched so many quality recordings posted by people with good cameras at this angle. The skill level of these pros is so much more apparent from this view. You get a better look at the foot work, spin, racket speed, etc. The only thing is you lose maybe a small bit from the guy on the far side, but the gain on the near court player seems worth it.
It's the lack of advertisements you see with this view maybe not this one but for example like Australia the broadcasting company (usually ESPN) has to make sure all those ads can be seen the whole match.
I think the monkey is a reason for this. When we see the tennis game on TV, we don't pay money. So, if we want to watch at this angle, we have to go stadium & pay money for it. Also, camera's vew is not wide and can't display all shots.
The first thing that stands out to me watching at court level is how much topspin they put on the ball and how their follow through with using their wrist to come over the ball with top spin... How Federer hits that one handed backhand so much power is beyond me ......
Mach-10 Forehand it's very simple , faster u hit u gain much more control and spin so the Ball is going to kick down, technic on high lvl without it hiting hard it's nothing u cann See it when beginners try to use full power homerun incoming :P
Mach-10 Forehand They throw the racquet essentially, and since they have so many hours of practice, they're able to combine the power of "throwing" the racquet with control that allows them to place it anywhere they want. The truth is, they're not hitting the ball hard, but rather they're utilizing momentum to create power.

Mais l'accélération est PROGRESSIVE et non constante. Aucun effort physique , juste de la coordination , c'est le plus difficile a réaliser. @@JuhoTunkelo I think the change in power isn't that great, considering how his backswing is waaaaay shorter than it was back in 2005. In his match vs Agassi he was ripping those forehands despite the smaller headsize and stuff. I'm guessing he is actually hitting with less force now that his racquet is more powerful, to maintain control. However he still hits with decent spin, and probably hits more RPMs in today's more defensive baseliner game.
you know, with all the talk about how elegant and classy Federer is … he's also pretty badass. I mean he is grinding Stan Wawrinka into a pulp in this practice!

it's not actually hard at all. I do hit it quite often in practice although I admittedly as a 2 handed one. any half decent player can. it's just a half volley backhand.
slicusdadon What makes it difficult is that it was behind the baseline (close to his feet) and the shot he produced was magnificent. Any half decent player can return it, yes, but not so cleanly.
great stuff but the camera person is making the mistake trying to follow Federer. Just keep the camera still and stable and this could have been a lot better. There is no chance with an ordinary camera to follow the movement. You end up being always too late.
Just realized they were keep scoring during the last minute and a half of the video. First someone yells out 3-2, then after a point, 3-All, and then finally, 4-3 Stan. Guess they were playing 21 or something. Unless the spectators were the ones keeping score.
