These errors are of late increasing. It all started when he abbreviated his forehand and used more last minute lag for speed. But man, he's good even at missing them. Not everyone can miss so sensationally as he does.

Question though, why out of all the players ever to hold a racket is Federer so prone to mishits and errors these days? I get the racket lag business and the abbreviated forehand, but it seems weird. No one can hit winners like he does, but no one shanks and mishits like he does either.

a whiff is a stroke which the players misses completely not an airshot after a bad or unusual bounce, hence the definition. it does not say after a bad bounce the player misses completely.. of course a player misses after a bad bounce? duh... by that definition an ace is a whiff!! it only counts if you "can" hit a stroke and miss. then it is a whiff..
